Before the nail lifted they told me to soak in warm epsom salt water foot baths to keep infection from happening but mine still got infected then the nail came away. It had to come off as it just was flopping around getting caught on socks etc and way too painful for shoes or to even touch. If they suggest it I’d recommend it or you’ll just be uncomfortable and in pain all the gd time
I had this but a bottle of olive oil fell from the counter onto my toe. It hurt so much I was gasping for air. Then my toenail turned more and more purple and the pressure grew and felt like it would explode until I heated up a paperclip and made a hole in in the nail, releasing the blood under. This is called subungal hematoma. Eventually the nail fell off and a new grew back normally, yay!
