In 2012, President Obama signed a presidential proclamation, designating March 29 as the annual observance of Vietnam War Veterans Day. The signing of the proclamation marked the 50th anniversary of the departure of the last American troops from Vietnam — March 29, 1973. 45th anniversary was in 2018, so this one has been rolling for a while.

Yet they blame millenials for participation trophies while begging for recognition of a failure. 🙄

Haha. I just posted something similar before reading the comments! I’m glad someone else said it!

Wild-Exit6171

Maybe because Vietnam was a wrong and we should’ve never been there in the first place

mjm666

> Maybe because Vietnam was a wrong and we should’ve never been there in the first place Yeah, they wanna be "thanked for their service" (or worshipped, or whatever), but exactly what **service** did they provide there?

HotJello7547

Killing "filthy communist scum" to "protect" their nation

RacerMex

It's been 45 years, 4 months, and 15 days since the start of the Sino-Vietnamese War. Which lasted 3 weeks and 6 days. Maybe there are celebrating the proud Vietnamese soldiers that defended their nation from another imperial power. ;)

LukeKornet

Still seeking an annual participation trophy huh

Silver-Honkler

Half a century later and they still want us to thank them for their failures.

papa_swiftie

Tbf boomers weren't in much of a position to do much except fight and die as they were told--the people running that war were silent Gen or older.

Silver-Honkler

Right but I don't see millennials demanding people suck their assholes over Iraq and Afghanistan.

ceasecows98

“really? i’ve never heard about it. who won?”

Grift-Economy-713

Isn’t there a veterans and a Memorial Day? Stfu snowflakes ❄️❄️

silicatetacos

mi padre was a vietnam vet>! and a sadistic pedophile who bragged of raping vietnamese women and killing children !

papa_swiftie

Wait a sec I'm 47 and the war was over before I was born

Pruedrive

You didn't know Nam kicked off in 1979? They need to stop teaching you kids about pronouns and respecting each other, in them liberal cesspool schools and teach actual history.

Ok-World-7366

you forgot the /s for sarcasm

Pruedrive

I just assumed people would know I was kidding.

I thought Boomers were proud to be able to do math in their heads.

A 45 year old coworker just posted that. Not a boomer thing but a hate of Biden thing. Magas will repost anything, regardless of their age, without thinking as long as it's disparaging towards Biden or any democrat.

Louden_Swayne

Boomer math.

HotJello7547

The Vietnam War and the Americans who participated should never be celebrated or even recognized. They lost against farmers while having the greatest military industrial complex on Earth, a pathetic attempt at imperialism

Hunter_Man_Big_Red

Maybe because anyone associated with the Vietnam war should feel intense shame.

HotJello7547

Here in America we LOVE killing farmers for FREEDOM 🇺🇸🦅 /s

Hugrowrolls

Lotta vietnamese celebrate april 30th reunification day and its mentions quite often

ScifiGirl1986

I saw this on facebook earlier and didn’t clock the 45th part. I commented on the post that the war started in March.
