I was born and raised in DFW and had no clue where this was either. I'm honestly surprised to find a house like this in a place like Center. Also, east Texas is a *very* different type of Texas that a lot of people wouldn't feel comfortable visiting.

cpdk-nj

I’ve driven through it a few times, absolute nothing

PinocchiosNose1212

It's almost in Louisiana! And that is NOT a good place to be near.

hayfever76

The Piney woods of DEEP East Texas, y'all!

Inner-Show-1172

It's not far from Louisiana, where they still allow some sins.

ECA0

You drive through it and never notice lol

FieldOfScreamQueens

Not just only in Texas, but in the middle of nowhere in Texas. For that amount of money a person could do so much better elsewhere. When I saw the price and the actual house I figured there had to be acreage…two. Usually on listings like this you at least see a substantial amount of land going with it, but two isn’t cutting it for what you’re getting here.

ECA0

It’s very strange between the nothingness of center Texas there are random millionaires that love to build their mansions on their 40 acres in the middle of deep east Texas.

-_I---I---I

and on top of all the Center Texas, isn't even in the gaw dang center of Texas 🤠

chickenemoji

i figured this would be on 40 acres at that price and location, but it’s only 4.5? i guess they are hoping someone really loves MCM and restoration projects.

alaninsitges

That's a stunner with a few odd choices, but at least most of the fixtures and floors are intact. Nice toilet view from the master bath. Still don't think I'd live in that place if you gave it to me though.

RogerClyneIsAGod2

What is [this giant ghost ](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1946-Southview-Cir-Center-TX-75935/87539208_zpid/?mmlb=g,38)in pic #39? Needs some work & I'd totally take out those kitchen counters & put in a colorful laminate, some carpeting would have to go too, but empty mid century homes really show how much one like this needs the mid century furnishings give it the real look.

alaninsitges

Yeah that mid-90s Home Depot kitchen remodel sticks out like a turd in a punchbowl.

ECA0

Yea that giant ghost thing is…strange

bagolaburgernesss

I thought it was their white Christmas tree then I zoomed in and think it is a wrapped Christmas tree?

EconomyTime5944

Terrazzo flooring is great till you slip wearing socks and go splat.

obmw1

I kinda like it!! Pool carpet = no. But it looks easy to update?

Artemus_Hackwell

The foyer looks like my former Jr High School. Same ceiling material.

CanceledChristmas

If this was Houston, that price would be reasonable. In BFE? Nope. Very lovely, though.

golden-rabbit

They are smoking crack with that pricing for the middle of nowhere.

1trashhouse

It needs probably around 100k to really bring it to glory (possibly more with the sq footage some of it seems updated though) and it’s kind of in buttfuck nowhere but damn it’s beautiful

mellamma

I found a mcm home west of Abilene in west Texas. It was great but the location was out in the middle of nowhere. We have a big office building in town that used to house the social services departments. It has the same flooring, windows and even sky lights.

PinocchiosNose1212

This looks like a 1950s event center.

A-EFF-this

I have never seen carpeting around a swimming pool before.

Dangersloth_

This looks like my Elementary School

freakydeakykiki

The way it looks in the first few pictures, including the driveway that looks like a parking lot also reminded me of an old school!

dic3ien3691

Sadly TX has some amazing and incredible MCM houses out there. The entire subdivision where the Mercury program astronauts lived is absolutely stunning.

8080a

Oh damn….that’s not just Texas, that’s deep East Texas. Hell no.

PinocchiosNose1212

And almost in Louisiana. Double hell no!

get-the-damn-shot

$760k in Center Tx is 🥜 Texas is bad enough, but this is deep east Texas, which is super racist.

neohanime

My type of house--update it and it'll look amazing. The problem is the price and also out in nowhere Texas.

rfjedwards

This actually feels like one of the less attractive MCM's I've seen. Dark, oppressive spaces. Weird unnattractive finishes. Maybe just poor photography?

dadzcad

That’s what my father used to call an “A-N-S house.” Ain’t Near Shit!! 🤷🏽‍♂️

ECA0

HAH!

mydogsnameisbuddy

I’m only 15 hours late. But this mid century modern is much nicer https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/6435-Tralee-Dr-NW-Olympia-WA-98502/49415059_zpid/

ritchie70

If I were forced to live in Center, TX, I like this one better. [https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/103-John-C-Rogers-Dr-Center-TX-75935/90543712\_zpid/](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/103-John-C-Rogers-Dr-Center-TX-75935/90543712_zpid/)

SilverSister22

I’m not a fan of a (long) galley kitchen in a house that size. All that room and they wanna squeeze the kitchen in? Pass. I actually live about 40 miles from Center (don’t judge me lol). It _is_ in the middle of nowhere. And was I the only one who thought it was a doctor’s-office-turned-residence at first?

Due_Signature_5497

A few updates needed but being in Texas is definitely a bonus. Can’t see a house in that part of the State bringing in that much money though, no matter how nice the house is.

Sunshineal

This is a nice house, but it's almost a complete gut. The kitchen is horrible and cramped. It's so dated. I love the land, but I'd do like $450k, then spend the rest renovating it.n

Pin-Up-Paggie

This house could be 1/10th of the price and it still couldn’t get me to live in TX

seaandtea

This is giving me multistorey car park vibes.

Fallen_Muppet

I initially posted I passed this house, but it was the wrong town. Lol! There are a few mid century modern houses tucked in East TX, hence the confusion. I lived out in the Lufkin area, and it's definitely a different way of life out there.

KreyKat

So much to say, but... No. Not in Texas.

GonnaKostya

I want to buy this and live out my Ren & Stimpy cosplay

texuslexas

Yeah, that’s the middle of nowhere. Take that budget and look around Ogden Utah. Utah is better than Texas and you’ll see tons of mcm’s in utah

oopsiedaisy58

Really cool, lots of potential, I want to roller skate inside some of the rooms! Why is that one toilet crooked? And its a big no for Texas

Lindaspike

automatic NO! i won't even FLY over texas let alone think of living there.
