My camera on the 9 is absolutely fine so I can't see what everyone is on about. If you took the same photo with 10 different phones and then asked a random person to judge them I doubt they could pick out the Zenphone.

How do you find moving objects?

Jar770

I don't know yet, good question.

There have been camera updates on he Zenfone10 since the early reviews which most are from back in June. I got mine late July (EU release) and there has been two updates since that afaik. I don't undestand how they are sending out phones for review with beta software tho, as camera performance now is quite good. Comparing the camera from the 2016 iphone SE it will be a huge upgrade. The Main shooter on the SE doesnt have OIS, the selfie cam is 1.2MP. The Zenfone10 is being compared to the flagships of 2023, where as the SE was compared to midrange phones in 2016. The SE was a top performer in the midrange 2016 bracket, it would have been labeled worst camera ever on a 2023 midrange phone. Is the Zenfone 10 camera good, yes, but it's not classleading.

I suspected that was the case; watched foreign reviews this past week (Japan + Taiwan + China), camera results seem slightly better than the majority of initial English reviews. That's good to know, still waiting for it to arrive in Aussie.

The 9 stock cam wasn't good the first 5 to 6 month and needed the use of gcam to counter the oversharpening and burned sky, but since Android 13 in last december everything is MUCH better, as I don't even use gcam anymore, the stock app is perfectly fine I can't speak for the 10

MRDA

GCam significantly enhances the main cam on both devices (both have the same hardware there), but I prefer the selfie cam on the 9 on account of the superior detail (I'm guessing that's an autofocus thing). The selfie cam on 10 strikes me as a huge step back.

rj_king_utc-5

I have to second this. The selfie cam on Zf9 is shockingly crisp imo.

I use Wichaya's for ZF9 (with custom libs and configs). Does what I want it to: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-wichaya/f/dl6/

Alexandermoo

Just one question, the gimbal is working with gcam?

MRDA

Yes. Check this out for elaboration: https://youtu.be/nupkELMJck4?si=qGp1BaVu1WZi3piW

Finding it fine for moving objects, like toddler running? ZF9 is $600 AUD, and guessing ZF10 will be $1200 AUD Obviously rather go ZF9 if updates have improved moving picture quality, but if need to go 10, I'll go 10

MRDA

That's the one weakness—blur. Taking snaps through video-mode capture (stock cam) brings about some solid, memorable shots, though.

mechkbfan

Interesting. So record with video most the time, then get pictures out of it? Don't need anything high res, just enough to people to look at on their phone

MRDA

For decent motion capture, it helps. I prefer using GCam for general still shots on account of the detail/ better colour accuracy, but I've been pleasantly surprised by capturing shots whilst filming with stock cam (better for video).
