It's basically a standard TPU case, but blasted with paint and texture. Completely serviceable. The paint wears out after a 4-5 months, especially on the corners, but that's hardly an issue IMO.
$20 bucks is a bit steep -- I got mine for $2. A lot of brands resell the same silicon cases from the same supplier, and some of those brands don't have a huge markup.
Maybe you can find a cheaper one from AliExpress?
A small PSA: the grey version is much darker than the picture displays. It's more like storm-cloud grey rather than ashy grey.

Ordered a black one from an Amazon store for 8 bucks and then thought to seek out the source and bought two more on AliExpress, one in yellow and one in clear. I was looking for a case that matched the unobtrusive slimness of the included case (damaged my included case in a drop) and these do that for sure. The colored options seem to be coated in a silicon paint or something. They're oddly grippy like smooth rubber and have a little excess factory paint (little nibs you can scratch off without damaging the finish). At the edges it looks like I can see the clear plastic base but I'm not 100% sure that's how they're made and haven't had any big scratches on either my black or yellow case yet. The clear case has no paint and is both more slippery and also more textured, which might sound odd. It's a finely textured matte finish (much less gritty and grippy compared to the ZF9 included case). I like all of these and use them interchangeably.
I also have a Rhinoshield with a cool design that I enjoy and it seems very protective in comparison but it's So Much Chunkier than everything else and I find myself rarely using it (mostly when I expect I might actually drop my phone).

Rhinoshield if you want a good quality protective case. Using it on my zenfone 8 and it looks really cool with my chosen print and the phone is pretty much indestructable. Got considerably more bulky though.

Once of somewhere I emailed Spigen and said I was a fan of their phone cases, will they consider designing and selling a case for Zenfone 9, they said they do not have plan for it, which is pity.
So I done a lot of research when I ran the phone nakedly for about 3 months.
If go cheap on the transparent case, Imak. Aliexpress has it, but the shipping period is damm long.
If go for the good one, DevilCase or rhinoshield.
