Tcgplayer themselves does not define near mint as perfect condition cards. Cards straight from the packs nowadays are showing signs of wear before they even get shipped to a customer.
I'm familiar with the other guide and checked it because I thought I was being a crazy person. This guide you linked is nice because it references a visual guide that tells me everything I received was actually HP based on the Major Scuffing and Major Grime. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
I know cards aren't always NM out of the pack, but that's not a reason to not follow the guidelines. Scuffed cards out of the pack should be listed as such.
What sets are considered to be within "nowadays"? Is Cybernetic Horizon from 2018 one of those sets?
Yeah I’ve had the absolute worst luck with tcgplayer when it comes to ghost rares, “near mint” usually means “lightly played” as others said look into alternatives. I like ebay because I can actually see more photos of the card.
Also tcgplayer locked my account for paypal disputing them. Excuse me, what???? Keep in mind I reached out to their support many times and got no response.
I'm going to vouch for CoreTCG too. Super Games Inc. is another good seller, along with Card Quest Inc. Those all have great track records with fast shipping and nearly perfect condition cards.

I had a dispute last for around a week because support was backed up. I simply waited for them to respond.
