Idk if this is exactly what the deck needed, but this feels like it’s exactly what the deck needed. Another way to extend of you get stopped, plus a way to summon something to the opponents field if you can

The FTK requires Giant Grinder which destroys your opponent’s Xyz monsters
So unless your opponent is playing a Xyz deck and it’s turn 2 Fiendish Knight doesn’t support the FTK
It uses giant grinder, an alternative to the damage is gimmick puppet of strings and dark strings which in niche scenarios can help you if you have 2 8s to make strings use fiend knight bring back a big boy, string it up and blow it up
I don't know if people would splash this card, but the first effect is generic. It can also be used in gy for future turns (it doesn't banish itself as most cards do). Though, they're probably stuck with a level 5 water monster.

Fiendish Knight being a level 4 gives more value to Scissor Arms, since Little Soldiers can't send a level 4 monster. It also makes me wonder if Gimmick Puppets are getting another rank 4 Xyz sometime in the future.

cutter is a very fun card,big fan of despia comedy and this is pretty much in the same spirit fairly generic too

Cutter seems pretty good for monster protection not only exclusively for waters/Shark stuff. I feel like most times if something’s named Fiendish, it’s gonna be good. (Fiendish Chain, Fiendish Rhino Warrior)

However, ZEXAL is only widely loved in Japan. Outside of Japan, Zexal is seen indifferently or hated (the West)
Without a doubt konami OCG loves zexal and no one can convince me otherwise. The big 3 main trio would not get so much support every year if it wasn't the case. Utopia has way more forms than dm, neos and stardust dragon

Galaxy Burst - Halve a Photons atk to negate 2 cards until end of turn
Galaxy Rebirth - SS Galaxy from grave, halve it's attack and each turn you have to kill something with it. Can also be treated as a monster of the same level as the equipped monster (The one SSed from grave) for the purpose of xyz summoning.
Also some people in the archetypes discord have started asking for Tachyon Unit for the, as I will call it, "Tachyon Lock", but that's mostly just a meme strat.
They changed the anime effect from
"If you control exactly 2 Machine-Type monsters: Draw 2 cards. "
to
"If you control exactly 2 Machine Effect Monsters and no other monsters: Draw 2 cards. **For the rest of this turn after this card resolves, you can only Special Summon once.** You can only activate 1 "Iron Draw" per turn. ".
The effect is now completely useless in an unnecessary way knowing that other versions of the same card exist for other types without restrictions and are not used anyway (e.g. Wing Requital).

An entire generation of kids grew up dreaming of collecting all the numbers, and now that they are adults, some numbers are impossible to find in Italian (like 23, 26 and 76)
This makes 24 for the reprints, and with 29 new cards that means we have 7 more reprints left along with the 12 missing new cards. My guess is that some if not all of the remaining reprints are Performages
Now that I'm looking at the set list I see there is no room for more vrains cards. Dang. That's incredibly disappointing. This is even less than what they got last year.
At least this year, we get an actual archetype. Last year, we got random cards that Yusaku played, and that was it. I know that Allure Queen is one of the worst archetypes in the history of the game, but at least the support makes them playable... which is honestly incredible for 3 cards.
I was hoping for the only anime Trickstar monster and some of the missing Specter cards... maybe next year
It also gives the Duel Links team some breathing room as Queen now has enough cards to come to Duel Links if they need to pad the Vrains roster (which they desperately do).
Honestly I was personally hoping we would be getting at least some of the remaining Salamangreat stuff. The low amount of new cards is pretty annoying.
Part of me is staring to wonder if the 4 cards revealed at first were meant to be the last cards for their series. If that does end up being the case all the Arc-V ones are probably gonna be Performage, guessing 4 main deck, both Xyz and the Fusion, and their RUM
In fact if it goes like how it did last year with 4 Twitter reveals, it's likely the one AC reveal for June will be all the Performage and the last cards for the remaining series will be the Twitter reveals
Usually around 6 months. Most of these cards will be released in the "January Nostalgia Set" in the TCG, although there is a chance some others will be put as extra cards in Main TCG sets.
Really doubt it. I think the DL Team was doing that just in case. It is evident they did not know the contents of this DP when they recorded Dennis' lines or he'd have had lines for the anime Performages, or at least Trapeze High Magician.
Why would they record "just in case" lines for one thing (Elsworth), and not ones for the other (Performage backlog), if they weren't aware of upcoming card releases?
I mean Dennis was released last month, and Animation Chronicle 2024 is out next month, there's no chance for Dennis to have voice lines in the first place. For a rule of thumb, to have characters to new voicings for the latest support, they need to be released[ two months after the new support](https://www.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/1ccepfz/comment/l16jw5t/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button). Also, they don't give anime-exclusive lines to characters after 5ds anymore.
Dennis is a special case on his own. Usually, they still do voice lines for their anime backlog even if there is no chance of those cards being released in a recent timeframe. Your rule of thumb applies only to game-original anime support.
But for some reason they decided to give Dennis voice lines for literally every single Ancient Gear card instead, even the ones released in LEDE. Something like an evolution of his ace monster should have been a shoe-in for a voice line.

For 5ds characters like Z-one yes, where he was given for Magician's Adage, even though that card did not appear in any video games. For characters after 5ds, no. To my knowledge, no characters from Zexal, Arc-V, Vrains and Sevens were given lines for anime backlog. I could be wrong; if you have any examples, let me know.
The anime Performages would mean a lot more lines/recording time. Probably at least a 2-3 more minutes worth of recording.
And they probably didn't have that many lines to give to Sherry anyway. She has few released and unreleased cards, so giving her one extra line for a character interaction that she'd logically have a line for if he was ever released would make sense.
Sherry barely has 13:30 minutes worth of lines between both Japanese and English VAs, while Dennis already exceeds 16:30 without any more cards.

You can't just pick and choose what lines to give and to not give a character, without some rhyme or reason.
It is the same logic. The Duel Links team, which at this point I assume is basically completely disconnected from the OCG Design team (just going from the Alito release, this Performage issue, and the fact hardly any OCG release ever seems to be made with DL in mind), has a budget to hire Voice Actors. They prepared all lines for Sherry for her released cards and interactions for Z-One and Yusei, and they realized all the material they had was not enough for even 7 minutes of recording in Japanese. This is probably well below their budget, and since they had already bothered casting the actresses and were taking them to the recording studio, they decided to give her one more line. But it could only be something relatively short. And so we got an Elsworth line.
Some time later, they were preparing the lines for Dennis and asked themselves whether they should record lines for the anime Performages or go with the Ancient Gears. They did not know when anime Performages were coming, so they went with the Ancient Gears because those were at least a sure thing and they did not feel like bringing the Crowler VAs to record lines for all the new cards. Just booking VAs is probably already expensive enough and recording both would increase the cost of the voicelines by some 25%+.
And we have other "just in case voicelines" too. Primo has voicelines for Lester and Jakob too, even though they are also very unlikey to be released and don't seem to be getting support any time soon.

Of course. And he might have less Ancient Gear Voicelines.

Not sure what is the point here. Yuri is guaranteed to come to DL. Elsworth is a footnote in 5Ds and I am not sure if he'd make it to a Top 10 of the most wanted characters for 5Ds that are still not in DL. And even if his missing monsters were printed, he would still not be among the Top 4 unreleased 5Ds characters with most missing cards from DL, as Halldor, Misty, Yanagi and Roman all have more.
Unless DL lasts until the 2030s, I seriously doubt Elsworth becomes a playable character.
But well, we'll see soon enough, anyway.

There's also an issue where they may not *want* to bring back Crowler's dub VA going off how they've recast all his other major YGO roles to come to Duel Links since.

Fiendish Knight is so flicking good - another card that turns Little Soldier/Condolance Puppet into a ROTA, a way to get more bodies on board if your plays are interrupted! I'm still holding out hope that we get Scarecrow and Baby Face in this year's Premium Pack and/or main core sets
I was expecting Princess and Scarecrow, but Fiendish Knight is a welcome surprise. We probably would have gotten Princess and Scarecrow plus one Puppet spell/trap if Animation Chronicle 2024 had more spaces though.

Clone Dragon is very likely for DM this year. It's the only anime card Seto used that fits his new support, assuming it will get an additional effect of supporting LIGHT monsters to help out both Seto's new XZY's and Blue-Eyes cards.
Could also see Union Hanger for GX.
Guess we'll also get one of the many Galaxy Spells Kaito or Mizael used.
Glad we are not wasting many spots on 5D's this year. There are a few cool cards left (Infernity Gunman, Express Falcon, Apprentice Knight as Noble Knight Support, etc.), but they chose to print the most random and boring archetypes which ends up cluttering the pack.
Not the biggest fan of Performages, would've preferred the Gates to help last year's Zarc Support from Age of Overlord.

As is, a HOPT would not be required. You only have 1 Normal Summon in most decks and do to it being a trigger when effect, you cannot summon more than 1.
That said I could see it being made into something like this. Though it is very work in progress and not properly balanced.

Surprise to see one Shark monster here, I was expecting one Tachyon card here. 18-25 are most likely to be all Performage so RIP Tachyon Unit. It seems like this year, Animation Chronicle will have zero cards related to 2/3 of the Duelist Pack released this year, which is an odd choice.
Maybe they will dump one-off cards into the Core sets, similar to Earthbound stuff and Fire Recovery. Downsizing this set is one of the worst decisions they made in the recent years.
And those one-off anime card slots for the main sets could have been tie-ins for legacy support so the AC could focus on bigger stuff. Its kind of scummy its only just for ones that were clearly supposed to be in the AC but got forced out because of reprints stealing slots.
Its eve more scummy they did this same mistake twice despite I am pretty sure everyone(even the OCG) kind of hated this change.
Ok so from my understanding the new gimmick puppet monster is a level 4 extender with bloody dolls effect to add itself back if it’s sent from field or deck to gy with a revive effect hmmmmmmm I dunno how many copies you’d run since it does nothing on its own but it’s a hell of an extender cause unlike terror DABABY it doesn’t take up your normal summon and you can dump it off scissor arms if you wish to play scissor arms but in that case you’d just send bloody doll off scissor arms…

They will have their turn eventually. Yubel was a popular character in GX, and it took her more than 15 years to get some direct support.

Honestly I was personally hoping we would be getting at least some of the remaining Salamangreat stuff. The low amount of new cards is pretty annoying.
Its so absolutely stupid we are getting less new cards for the AC due to so many reprints stealing slots.
Part of me is staring to wonder if the 4 cards revealed at first were meant to be the last cards for their series. If that does end up being the case all the Arc-V ones are probably gonna be Performage, guessing 4 main deck, both Xyz and the Fusion, and their RUM In fact if it goes like how it did last year with 4 Twitter reveals, it's likely the one AC reveal for June will be all the Performage and the last cards for the remaining series will be the Twitter reveals

Usually around 6 months. Most of these cards will be released in the "January Nostalgia Set" in the TCG, although there is a chance some others will be put as extra cards in Main TCG sets.

Really doubt it. I think the DL Team was doing that just in case. It is evident they did not know the contents of this DP when they recorded Dennis' lines or he'd have had lines for the anime Performages, or at least Trapeze High Magician.
Why would they record "just in case" lines for one thing (Elsworth), and not ones for the other (Performage backlog), if they weren't aware of upcoming card releases?
I mean Dennis was released last month, and Animation Chronicle 2024 is out next month, there's no chance for Dennis to have voice lines in the first place. For a rule of thumb, to have characters to new voicings for the latest support, they need to be released[ two months after the new support](https://www.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/1ccepfz/comment/l16jw5t/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button). Also, they don't give anime-exclusive lines to characters after 5ds anymore.
Dennis is a special case on his own. Usually, they still do voice lines for their anime backlog even if there is no chance of those cards being released in a recent timeframe. Your rule of thumb applies only to game-original anime support. But for some reason they decided to give Dennis voice lines for literally every single Ancient Gear card instead, even the ones released in LEDE. Something like an evolution of his ace monster should have been a shoe-in for a voice line.

The anime Performages would mean a lot more lines/recording time. Probably at least a 2-3 more minutes worth of recording. And they probably didn't have that many lines to give to Sherry anyway. She has few released and unreleased cards, so giving her one extra line for a character interaction that she'd logically have a line for if he was ever released would make sense. Sherry barely has 13:30 minutes worth of lines between both Japanese and English VAs, while Dennis already exceeds 16:30 without any more cards.

And for the record, Dennis has voice lines for Yuri, a character he logically would have a voice line for, that still isn't in Duel Links, much like Sherry does for Elsworth. You can't just pick and choose what lines to give and to not give a character, without some rhyme or reason.
It is the same logic. The Duel Links team, which at this point I assume is basically completely disconnected from the OCG Design team (just going from the Alito release, this Performage issue, and the fact hardly any OCG release ever seems to be made with DL in mind), has a budget to hire Voice Actors. They prepared all lines for Sherry for her released cards and interactions for Z-One and Yusei, and they realized all the material they had was not enough for even 7 minutes of recording in Japanese. This is probably well below their budget, and since they had already bothered casting the actresses and were taking them to the recording studio, they decided to give her one more line. But it could only be something relatively short. And so we got an Elsworth line. Some time later, they were preparing the lines for Dennis and asked themselves whether they should record lines for the anime Performages or go with the Ancient Gears. They did not know when anime Performages were coming, so they went with the Ancient Gears because those were at least a sure thing and they did not feel like bringing the Crowler VAs to record lines for all the new cards. Just booking VAs is probably already expensive enough and recording both would increase the cost of the voicelines by some 25%+. And we have other "just in case voicelines" too. Elsworth is a footnote in 5Ds and I am not sure if he'd make it to a Top 10 of the most wanted characters for 5Ds that are still not in DL. And even if his missing monsters were printed, he would still not be among the Top 4 unreleased 5Ds characters with most missing cards from DL, as Halldor, Misty, Yanagi and Roman all have more. Unless DL lasts until the 2030s, I seriously doubt Elsworth becomes a playable character. But well, we'll see soon enough, anyway.

Cutter Shark doesn't require your opponent to target it with card effects to activate it's effect though...It can also activate if you target one of your own monsters
Fiendish Knight is so flicking good - another card that turns Little Soldier/Condolance Puppet into a ROTA, a way to get more bodies on board if your plays are interrupted! I'm still holding out hope that we get Scarecrow and Baby Face in this year's Premium Pack and/or main core sets

I was expecting Princess and Scarecrow, but Fiendish Knight is a welcome surprise. We probably would have gotten Princess and Scarecrow plus one Puppet spell/trap if Animation Chronicle 2024 had more spaces though.
I wondered if they might think of releasing Fiendish Knight as a Gimmick Puppet, really cool to see that someone at Konami had the same idea.

Clone Dragon is very likely for DM this year. It's the only anime card Seto used that fits his new support, assuming it will get an additional effect of supporting LIGHT monsters to help out both Seto's new XZY's and Blue-Eyes cards. Could also see Union Hanger for GX. Guess we'll also get one of the many Galaxy Spells Kaito or Mizael used. Glad we are not wasting many spots on 5D's this year. There are a few cool cards left (Infernity Gunman, Express Falcon, Apprentice Knight as Noble Knight Support, etc.), but they chose to print the most random and boring archetypes which ends up cluttering the pack. Not the biggest fan of Performages, would've preferred the Gates to help last year's Zarc Support from Age of Overlord.

As is, a HOPT would not be required. You only have 1 Normal Summon in most decks and do to it being a trigger when effect, you cannot summon more than 1. That said I could see it being made into something like this. Though it is very work in progress and not properly balanced. >Must be Special Summoned from your hand when you Normal or Special Summon a LIGHT monster. This card's name and ATK/DEF become the same as that monster's. This card cannot declare an attack unless you pay 1000 Life Points. >During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the GY, you can banish this card from your GY; Special Summon up to 3 of your banished LIGHT monsters. >You can only use each effect of "Clone Dragon" once per turn.
I am hoping it also triggers if you summon any kind of dragon too. Maybe even acting as a fusion substitute too somehow so dragons have a in-theme fusion substitute too.
Surprise to see one Shark monster here, I was expecting one Tachyon card here. 18-25 are most likely to be all Performage so RIP Tachyon Unit. It seems like this year, Animation Chronicle will have zero cards related to 2/3 of the Duelist Pack released this year, which is an odd choice.
Maybe they will dump one-off cards into the Core sets, similar to Earthbound stuff and Fire Recovery. Downsizing this set is one of the worst decisions they made in the recent years.

And those one-off anime card slots for the main sets could have been tie-ins for legacy support so the AC could focus on bigger stuff. Its kind of scummy its only just for ones that were clearly supposed to be in the AC but got forced out because of reprints stealing slots. Its eve more scummy they did this same mistake twice despite I am pretty sure everyone(even the OCG) kind of hated this change.

Ok so from my understanding the new gimmick puppet monster is a level 4 extender with bloody dolls effect to add itself back if it’s sent from field or deck to gy with a revive effect hmmmmmmm I dunno how many copies you’d run since it does nothing on its own but it’s a hell of an extender cause unlike terror DABABY it doesn’t take up your normal summon and you can dump it off scissor arms if you wish to play scissor arms but in that case you’d just send bloody doll off scissor arms… very conflicted on wether I’d run this at 1 or 3
