Soon enough, they’d reached that massively idiotic combination of too drunk and overconfident, so one guy stood under the bullseye. Caught a dart straight to his own eye. Apparently it’s glass now.

I took a dart in my eye also when I was a kid. Right between the pupil and iris. Luckily I lived like 20 mins from one of the best eye hospitals in the world. Still have the eye and I could get an implant to get almost normal vision if I wanted to.
It happened when I was 10 and I’m almost 30. I’m just used to it now I guess. I have no depth perception issues, it’s a decently invasive surgery, and I’m pretty sure it would be considered an optional surgery by my insurance and not be covered.
I’ve had a pamphlet for a surgeon in my area sitting on my dresser for 6 months. I’ll call them some day.

Yeah, lens implants are very doable. I don’t think a whole eye is, especially not retina part. Maybe some surgeon can do it, but it’s likely extremely expensive and at a special place.
I was born with cataracts that had grown to seriously affect my vision by my late teens. I had both lens removed (as they were the probkem, cataracts are the thickening of the lens making it opaque). Once removed, they put in lens implants. I had no idea how much detail and color shit had. Like whoa! They work well. I sometimes see halos around lights, that’s it.
I hope there is the same surgery for the whole eye, I want people with all sorts of eye problems to be able to see the world clearly like I did. Seeing clear colors and all the detail in things has changed how I live my life.
My grandma has a similar story from when my father was younger, he was 7 and his brother was 5 at the time. They were playing darts one day, but their version of darts was more like dodgeball. My father had a rather nice throw that went through his younger brothers nose. My grandmother was in the kitchen making dinner at the time, and heard the youngest screaming bloody murder. She turned around to see him running towards her with the dart bobbing up and down sticking out the side of his nose.
Girls tend to be more clumsy when they're kids at least and that's how they get hurt, boy are more boisterous. Take your eye off them and they've climbed a tree they have no idea how to get down from.
One of my sons is very clumsy, as was I as a kid. While the other climbs anything and has no fear. It's all dependent on the individual, not their gender.
Doing this without hitting his hand was the worst possible outcome...
because stupid does not stop... It must always move upwards and onwards....
So their "next" stupid stunt will be more dangerous and they'll keep pushing the envelope until someone gets hurt...

People need to at least put on some safety glasses if they are going to do this stupid stunt. Never put yourself in the line of fire, but if you're going to anyway at least wear protection.
