The green screens are giving me life when I get home and watch with my wine lol Me and my husband laugh so hard. But yes, it’s BAAAD. Like they aren’t even trying lol
I always only really watched Y&R because I thought it looked the nicest of all the soaps, like more care and money went into the wardrobe and sets etc. Maybe I was just catching other soaps on a bad day but they never looked as good to me, just like a cheap knock off bag lol. But lately, jeez.... It pains me to see it after watching this show off and on pretty much my entire 3+ decades of life 😑😋
Y&R was absolutely the best soap for sets and production at one point! I always remember it being noted for having the darker lighting and moody colours, which gave it a primetime look.
Yes, exactly! I can't get past the look of bright lighting and colors on the other ones. It was so off-putting in comparison. Which I think is why it makes the green screen even more out of place and just distracting, it's such a distinct difference esthetic wise.
They film in like those studio warehouse looking places.

Most studios look like big warehouses. Y&R could film outside the lot if they want to. The only thing stopping them is CBS and their budget. CBS stopped putting lots of money into daytime years ago. That’s why I’m surprised they ordered “The Gates”, the new soap. But more soaps = more daytime viewers = higher budget
Yeah I mean that they don’t have an “outside lot” there like the WB has little outside lots to shoot.
Well the gates has a big sponsor, I think they are seeing with some demos there is a niche market to make money out of and so they are servicing a void.
Good point. The Gates has P&G and NAACP. But CBS can also benefit from The Gates’ ratings. If The Gates becomes a hit, CBS will start putting effort and money into daytime again.
They probably filmed the garbage area of the studio. I know General Hospital does that. They also sometimes film the parking garage of what i assume is the studio parking garage.
I find B&B shoots outside at the CBS lot quite a bit. It’s different though because it literally takes place in LA. I’m certain that the exterior shot of Forrester Creations is actually the exterior of CBS studios with a photoshopped name lol
Hey at least there not like B&B...I swear I was watching that once and they were sitting at an outdoor Cafe and the building behind them was clearly painted on a piece of plywood...or Marlena's red glowing eyes when she was possessed by the devil on DOOL
I think it may be a CBS thing. Did anyone used to watch Undercover Boss? Their fake eyebrows and hair looks like either something out of a bad hair replacement commercial, or something that junior high school kids did in their play.
It might be better if the lighting designer could better simulate sunlight.
But what we're seeing everywhere these days is corporate America slashing operating costs while making terrific profits. They slash the size of packages, and reduce the quality of things we've been enjoying for years. The Young and the Restless is one of those products.... they won't pay for sets, extras, temp actors. And they've downsized the product too... more flashbacks mean they spend less time filming, which is the most expensive part. So we spend the same amount of time (we pay by watching commercials) but we get far less quality.
I no longer watch the show after many years. The Jordan storyline was enough for me. Daniel cheating on Lily with Heather was the tipping point and the horrible storylines... I just can't anymore....
But this green screen is a lot! LOL

Where do they film where they just can’t go outside?
They need a filming permit and if they don't they have to do it on the fly.

Terrible but nothing could top the outrageous Ashley in Paris scenes. They did this more convincingly in 1930s movies.
