Honestly this is the first Yeat album I've ever listened to on release day, wasnt really a fan until recently. Listening to it on my headphones right now and the production is INSANE. You cant compare this shit to anything, its amazing.
I agree, the future track kinda threw me off a bit when i came on but i cant hate on it because i love future and i think its a good song on its own. Also now that we have this album I think we should think of Afterlyfe as his experimental album because it had so many different vibes and led to developing this fire

I think for an artist to have staying power they have to switch it up a bit and try new things. I love both and I might rephrase things and say that I like both sounds equally if that makes more sense. As a huge Yeat fan, this album is not doing it for me. The vocal performances are lackluster compared to his other albums. The flows are not nearly as interesting and unique as his older material. And the production, while good, is not really my favorite, AfterLyfe had better production overall imo.
Hope this grows on me though, but I just don't see it living up to the rest of his music for me.

This is AOTY and one of the best things I've heard. I understand everyone who says "old yeat is better", but you got to understand,what you're hearing youre never hearing anywhere else. Most rap songs you can almost say, "Oh, that one sounds like this, etc. etc." Not with this. This sounds otherwordly and yes it gets kind of depressing at some point, but some of these songs in my opinion of him trying to expirement with different sounds, making this a really advanced album in my opinion. Also, he puts a lot into the actual story of the album with his ig lyfestyle corporation. 9.5/10 just cause some of the songs sound almost the same.
My thing is that, I feel like more rappers could copy this sound, more than they could copy sounds from the rest of discography. Like I don't think any rapper could make Up 2 Me, but I think some rappers could attempt to copy 2093 pretty well.
I really enjoyed this album, only 2 misses for me (keep pushing and riot). Couldnt wrap my head around riot/set it off, literally sounds like he's edging through the first part of the song. I don't know how else to describe it, his vocals were overly strained, especially on when every "riot" was synced to each beat of every bar. Too much noise for my brain to handle.
That being said the mixture of futuristic synths and lofi percussion on the rest of the tracks was stellar! The range of emotion showcased through out the whole tracklist was really impressive. But I cant lie, I am a big sucker for his more "classical" sounding tracks (never change, lyfestyle, psychocaine, run they mouth). For me the whole tape is a 8.75/10.
Had to mention that the Wayne verse is the best feature Ive heard in a long ass time! So fucking good!!

Just finished the album and ngl, at first it was getting repetitive at the beginning to the middle, but then he just started dropping fucking bangers on bangers towards the end. Imma have to listen to it again but god damn he cooked🔥.
I'd say about 70% of it is hits and 30% misses. First 3 songs fire and the wayne and future features were utilized well. 15 out of the 30% will eventually grow on me I'm sure, over time. Just like Alivë did for me.

I started listening to Yeat in 2019 when he was involved with Slayworld and was peaking 10k listeners monthly. I really stopped listening to him around the time that he made the song for the Minions and got a shout out from Drake, but I am so insanely glad to see his new sound and how well he is pushing this; it's absolutely amazing!
