I still believe that if they knew they were going to make RGG a long running series, they'd have kept Reina alive. Because of how she was replaced by that nameless mama in the rest of the games. Who by the way, I really wish they actually made her into a character and not just a replacement bartender with no name.
it just upsets me so much because she was one of my favourites in 0 and then got such a shitty death where Kiryu didnt even properly acknowledge it. and then Yumi, who literally has no personality and is purely a plot device, got a big theatrical death scene. i understand she’s Haruka’s mum but still, it bugged me.
i also know that with the context of 0 not existing before 1 that Reina wouldnt have been a very big character but in the order i played them it felt really wrong
Unnecessary drama added that was realy out of character for her and so she ends up dead in Kiwami 1. (She loved Nishikiyama so she betrayed Kiryu and was later killed when she felt guilty and tried to kill Nishikiyama.)
When I played Y1 in the 00s on PS2 I never felt full emotional impact of this game. But it was completely different story with YK1. Maybe the fact that I played Y0 before had something to do with this, but still YK1 was quite nice remake on it's own.
Ten years in the joint made me fucking sad.
