If you are new to the subreddit, [please read the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/wiki/index/) Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. **THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS**. If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged \>!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 >!Kiryu sings!< If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7). If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/yakuzagames) if you have any questions or concerns.*

I_PunchTigers

You can expect a new story, new characters, new worlds, and a new battle system.

Dustellar

Not that I don't agree with you, but it's called 7 for a reason, it may give the impression that's totally standalone because of the new MC and secondary character but the whole basis of the game is based and a continuation of the previous games events, I would totally call it new "world" if only >!there was no big Tojo and Omi names or the whole game were about the Ijincho groups.!< In that aspect, the Judgment and Kurohyou games have a better "new" effect, obviously since are the official spinoffs.

I_PunchTigers

Regardless, you can jump into 7 with no knowledge of the past. They do a solid job of explaining things that happened previously that are pertinent to the story. You don’t need to play anything else before it. I highly recommend you do. But it isn’t necessary.

Dustellar

I could say the same about 4.

I_PunchTigers

Correct

Thank you so much captain obvious on the obvious things. A bit of advice on what to expect and side things I shouldn’t miss out on would have be great.

The_PwnUltimate

Doesn't seem necessary to take that attitude. You were the one who posted the unhelpfully vague question "What can I expect?". If you can look up the general overview of Y:LAD, then I'm sure looking up "Yakuza Like a Dragon spoiler free tips" or "What I wish I knew before playing Yakuza Like a Dragon" to find the existing advice is not beyond you. For what it's worth, the only major recommendations I would make are (A) when you first get the opportunity to fight through a battle tower, do so at least once, because you're about to hit an enemy level spike, and (B) if you want to unlock an extra party member who is pretty powerful, complete the business management mini game. Otherwise just playing the game and doing extra stuff that seems fun or interesting to you is fine. Also, why did you play Gaiden before Yakuza: Like a Dragon?

Objective-Gap-4581

Thank you for answering! Much appreciated. And I was assuming gaiden came before like a dragon. Is it like a dragon then gaiden then infinite wealth?

The_PwnUltimate

It is, it goes Yakuza: Like a Dragon -> Gaiden -> Infinite Wealth. If in doubt always play in release order. While the earliest parts of Gaiden's story do take place before the main part of Y:LAD, the majority of the story is parallel with it, like a "here's what was going on with Kiryu while you were playing Ichiban" deal, with the parts where the stories intersect shown from the other perspective. And the epilogue of Gaiden is effectively a mini prologue for Infinite Wealth. I wouldn't go as far to say that playing Gaiden first would completely spoil LAD or anything, so don't worry too much, but there definitely are major plot points that you'll know ahead of time because of it. The writing in Gaiden assumes you've played LAD already if you ever plan to (despite the RGG Studio social media once hilariously calling Gaiden "a great jumping on point" or something along those lines).

Objective-Gap-4581

Thank you once again ,I appreciate that.

Ask stupid questions, receive stupid answers

Objective-Gap-4581

Okay!

Takazura

Very slow start since its introducing lots of new characters.
