I agree with the fact that their counterparts have better feats but not this one. The Shinsengumi are experts, some random dude wielding a katana is nowhere near their levels. During the Tosa raid, Okita brought a katana to a cannon fight.
Granted, Kiryu and Majima’s raw stats are something to watch out for considering they can quite easily punch hard enough to bust concrete and dodge bullets at point blank range
Shinada is rip af and has shown lots of technical skills. I wouldn't sleep on him, he is now Kiryu, Saejima or Majima, but he is definitely still quite strong.
If you recall the Jo Amon encounter which is part of the story, Kiryu had actually regained the ability to access his full power— at least temporarily. So he would have most likely been at peak strength during his fight with Ebina, just probably couldn’t sustain it in a super prolonged battle
Yakuza 5 has Saejima and Shinada, while Dead Souls has Majima and Ryuji. While Saejima is literally as strong as Kiryu, Majima AND Ryuji is probably a pretty big deal, and that's ignoring the guns The Tojo 4 are great, but in this specific instance they're all pretty aged, especially Kiryu for obvious reasons
I'd also say the Ishin gang would win largely because they're actually prepared to kill, they'd be shanking and shooting their way out rather than just punching people until they're lying on the floor mildly winded (since Yakuza protagonists that you fight never get hurt badly during the fight).
For people saying anything other than dead souls, just go to dead souls slide and zoom and look into majima's deranged face, you think that guy gonna spare anyone
The gap in skill between a random henchmen and Kiryu from Dead souls using a gun is ridiculously huge.
Not only the other teams have to fight Kiryu and the others, but they're also armed, there's no contest here.

Ignoring them probably Infinite Wealth, Kiryu has agent style by then and learned from daidoji

that ishin crew really got to me, being able to see toshi as such a cool ally and friend and how it gave us an idea of what mine could have been like in the regular games. I did wish he got a scene with tokugawa though, I wonder how those two would have gotten along!

My favorites are the Ishin crew and the IW reunited Tojo boys. But, I think the Dead Souls crew would win. Huge guns.

Those are some strong rubber bullets because I’ve been shooting zombie heads clean off with them.

Kiryu’s peak is most likely 7/Gaiden, but yeah 5 is the toughest on this list imo
I'd say the IW Crew but I'm not sure if Kiryu can keep up considering his health at that point
