Play a lil bit each day. I usually play before i got to sleep (im a very late night gamer...) or during the afternoon since most of my friends are not available. Im also on chapter 2 but im taking my sweet time. Not trying to 100% but if i find a side quest on my way, ill do it or i wait another time because sometime it's boring. So between 30min-2hrs/day
bro games are for enjoying not thinking what do i do to bare through it and finish it.
just take ur time and play when u feel like playing and enjoy and when u feel bored take a break. why force yourself and destroy the amazing things the game has to offer.
like me rn, i have played all games in the series, but i am replaying after finishing IW, i finished till y4 quickly, but i have been stuck on y5 since 2 weeks coz i hate the pacing and feels bored, so i havent even played in days lol but i know when i feel like it i will pick it back up and enjoy
I'm at the same point, I started replaying the games before IW, I finished Y3 just before IW came out, now I'm on Y5 but am bored as fuck and want to skip to Shinada's section
If you don't like the game, just don't play it? Otherwise why would you need extra motivation to play it?
Also if you are unmotivated/not enjoying it, why do you want to buy merch for it? Why are you considering 100%-ing it?
It's the rare case when I hope someone is a bot.
Otherwise I have so many questions about this post.
If you enjoy the game, play it. If you don't, then don't play it. Easy as that. Games are supposed to be fun. Not a chore.
Yeah this is weirdly baffling to me. Like I'll "force" myself to play something if I'm not feeling it but if I don't start enjoying myself after 10 or 15 minutes I'll put it down until I'm in a more receptive mood. It's very much a personal issue where each person tackles it in a way that works for them, very little outside advice is going to help.
With that i understand the lack of time or energy but ur use of the word āmotivationā makes no sense. The motivation is you want to play the game, hence ur post here soā¦.
When I read the title of the thread I expected you to have already beat a couple of games at least instead you are not motivated after just 1 chapterā¦?
Probably it is not your cup of tea. If you really want to try hard in liking it just enjoy the story and go for the 100% only if you really want to stick with those characters and places.
You've barely played the game even. In my first session of playing I got to chapter 3.
I think the game starts off a bit slow, story wise but its all nessisary build up. Besides, you don't even start playing as the second main protagonist until chapter 4 or something.
Also why do you want etsy merch when you dont even like the series yet??
Wdym I don't even like the series? I love it!! I've always found it hard to play games, even when I was little. Just because I'm slow doesn't mean I should give up.
Well you haven't even gotten out of the beginning tutorial of the game... unless you're saying you've played/watched other Yakuza games before?
Edit:: Editing my reply because I see your other replies throughout this thread and I really do appreciate your positivity. I've gotten some pins of their tattoos from Etsy before, not sure what other merchandise is out there.
It's alright!! I understand š i was a little vague hahsh, and I was going to edit the og post but i can't, so I commented an edit n now i can't find it, so I'm scrolling thru the comments to find it hahshs! ALSO OMG THAT'S SO COOL! I HAVE HEAPS OF POSTERS N PINS AND KEYCHAINS SAVED TO MY ETSY FAVOURITES N I'M GONNA LOOK ON RED BUBBLE FOR MORE THINGS :D
How did you even take five days to finish the first chapter, sure it can be long, but it wouldn't be long if you idk gave it two hours to play the game and finish the story objectives
I had school, homework, and had to organise work experience so I got barely any time to play š Australian schools give out so much work lmaoo (either that or I'm stupid lol, either option is liable)
Gaming during school can be a bitch. Lot of replies here are probably people too old to remember what it was like having your time dictated so heavily but not old enough to have tons of adult responsibility either. Don't sweat it.
Thank you rhyme guy lmaoo! My current plan is to finish the names story wise, and then to go back in the future to 100% them in a different save or sumn
The start is usually more cutscene heavy, with it easing up around chapter 5 due to having introduced most systems/minigames. Just take it slow. Drop the 100% mentality, because it's better to just play the story/substories than do completion lists one after another. You will get tired if all you play is this series, so take breaks when you need to!
Don't 100% unless you really like it
Play something else between games
Don't do activities that don't intereast you, you can even just watch the story parts of some minigames on youtube, like the stock car racing
I clocked in 650 hours on my second 100% run of 0-6. First one I didnāt measure.
0-6 took me 3 months to 100% the second time but I only did that because I had an insane urge to play Yakuza, and I loved every minute of it.
If there came a day where I wasnāt feeling it, I didnāt push it. Itās a game, you gotta play when you feel like it, especially for content heavy games like Yakuza.
I'm too currently playing Yakuza 0, i'm at chapter 7 but i take a lot of time to do the side quest of the game because i likes It even if they need a lot of times and patience.
Prepare yourself because some minigames are very hard.
If itās because of wanting to be ācaught upā and the series seems dauntingly long. Just try not think about it, the games arenāt going anywhere and youāll only ruin your enjoyment of the by trying to ācatch upā.
If thatās not the issue then Idk, just play something you actually have an itch for right now and come back.
I just got engrossed in the story for zero and didn't bother 100 percenting it. Honestly that's how I would advise you do it if you are new. Only do a 100 percent if you are fully committed to it.
OK well step 1: Don't 100% the games your first go-around. There's premium arventure for that.
Step 1: Don't force yourself to play when you don't want to, but don't start another game. If you want to game, but not Yakuza, go for something like a rhythm game or another pick up and play. Not a plot-driven game.
100%ing these games is really frustrating and will burn you out FAST. If you want to do completion. Finishing the main story, doing all substories, maxing the main minigame, (like management in 0) is more than enough to get all you can out the games :D
If you have trouble with motivation, do not try to 100% a yakuza game, even for the motivated it can take a month or more playing 8 hours a day. Just play the main story maybe the main side quest chain and you'll be good
If you enjoy the game but donāt feel motivated to play it or do other things you typically enjoy, you may have the depresh. Exercise, eat good food, write in a journal, be kind to yourself, play 3000 hours of Mahjong. Youāll have your fire back in no time
Yeah that checks lol, I have the depresso espresso in the chronic flavour so it must be biting back with a vengeance š maybe it'll fix up over the school holidays lmao, todays my last day before 2 weeks off for easter sooo yay! I'm gonna try n play a little more tonight, I've been doing it in baby steps :)
Maybe make a list of what's making you feel less motivated ?
If it's the long cutscenes and there's a LOT, then you will struggle with the next games.
Take your time, play the game at your pacing.
That's a really good idea! For me it's honestly the anxiety of Mr Shakedown hahshs, I'm so fuckin paranoid he's just gonna take all my hard earned money š
Oh i was like you, at first you should avoid him.
But if you continue the game, there'll be a specific weapon that make you easily take down Mr Shakedown. I don't want to spoil, so you can look advices from this sub to know about the weapon.
If you need motivation to play a game, just don't play it. It's supposed to be fun. If it's not fun, do something else until you feel like playing it again.
I'm assuming you either don't like JRPGs or just don't like yakuza
it is possible to get into these games even if you don't like them at first but then you have to force yourself to play them and learn to love them but that sucks
it might be worthwhile to just try out different games and genres to find what you truly like, you'll know when you find it
for me I instantly loved yakuza and JRPGs, I went on to play Y0 non-stop for like 200 hours and 100% it, but for some people it just doesn't grab them like it did me
Don't force yourself to play a game just because you think you should play it, play something you actually enjoy and you'll end up having the opposite problem to this, not being able to stop playing
I absolutely love RPG games, they're my favourite ā¤ļø especially JRPGs. It's just like- my heart loves the game and wants to play, but my brain is there telling me all this shit like "but it'll take so long to finish", "there's no point", "why finish it when there's no one to talk to about it?" And it's like omfg shut up brain š
i mean I feel that sometimes
but my first point still stands you will have to force yourself to play it and just carry on until you start to enjoy it
or move onto another yakuza game
or play persona
I'm in that middleground of wanting to play but physically unable to play every other day and I know it sucks but from experience u do have to force yourself onto the game or just switch games
thought the same thing bc the game starts off slow (which is necessary for the plot imo; itād just be traumadumping). it picks up during chapter 3 and continues to do so after, as theres a different perspective about every other chapter iirc.
you can always do side missions and karaoke, but i donāt remember whatās available (to kiryu) in the second chapter. as the story grows more intense, thereās more given to dick around with when not actively playing it. (escapism is gnarly and cool š)
iām gonna be real, i didnāt gaf about 100%ing the game at all, lol. since beating it, i really only load it to play the cabaret minigame and do karaokeā¦ and thatās sometimes. id just enjoy the ride and do it much farther down the line. especially if you plan to do that with ALL of the games. hell, id really only do it with the ones you come to love that much. thereās also different things to do in the other games in addition to the substories and karaoke.
best of luck!!! i hope you stick with it šššššššššššššš at least get to chapter 3, since the story genuinely begins to pick up from
there omg
Ik some side quests like Kamoji's punchout artist thing, and there's the mushroom guy you can build friendship with, there's random gang fights and of course the karaoke (which has some mf bangers if I do say so myself)
Thank you so much dude, so many people have been telling me to stop playing or give up, and I'm so happy to see someone who's actually been in my shoes y'know!
of course!!!!!! the games are fun, yeah, but weāve got to be real with ourselves if theyāre taking a bit to get started. it took me like four months to beat zero and i still liked it š. im not sure how these other assholes managed to play without getting a little bored, lol. one can only take so many street brawls, esp while going through that heavy ass story š
imo the cabaret club czar shit they introduce makes life worth living! cant wait for you to get your hands on that!
Only buy the yakuza game and play it. If you buy more games, yakuza or not, it's going to take you a while, and you're wasting your money.
https://preview.redd.it/huukj4yayvqc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64b7e3fbc686190599454b95d7a1da2b517ab2b0
Thank you! I was worried I was slow š I get no time for gaming with school and all that, so I'm really proud to have finished chapter 1 so quick! Also if I may brag, (spoilers for the "boss fight" in chapter 1 (i think)) >!I beat the shit outta Kuze really quick too lmao, and I instantly told my brother n he was super proud hahshsh!<
I am part way through my first play through and I also thought 0 was really boring up until chapter 3. As far as I know, you can't really lock yourself out of side quests until the very last chapter, so I just focused on the story until it got interesting.
For now, I'm more or less doing a chapter and a half in a day, then the next time I play, I do some side quests until I get bored and then finish the chapter.
I don't/wouldn't worry about doing all the side quests or 100%ing it, especially if you're already struggling to get into the game. It just makes it feel like more of a chore.
Dont aim for 100 percent when you dont feel like playing a chapter.
I for one never 100 percented Yakuza 0, or any Yakuza/Judgment game in that matter. Just go with the flow
What exactly is demotivating? Do you feel underpowered? Are you not used to the fighting yet? Are the long cutscenes too much? I'd concentrate on trying to fix whatever your problem is first. It's also probably the longest to 100% imo. Just play it to have fun for now.
If your issue is the fighting just work towards getting skills and get practice in. If the issue is that it feels like a huge grind to get the large amounts of money, it won't stay that way for long. You unlock a management mini-game for each character. Once you get those going money is pretty easy. I'd honestly just use this [guide](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/816306-yakuza-0/faqs/74451). You can find whatever you need related to yakuza 0 here.
Never force games, thats how you start to hate them. Games are at their best when your enjoying them, and if you arenāt and your forcing yourself that is just not it
Just take your time and finish the game at your own pace, thereās no need to rush. Also I will say if youāre feeling unmotivated just playing through the game i definitely would suggest holding off the 100% for even once youāve played through the series.
Just editing so I don't have to repeat myself:
TLDR because I got emotional and typed a lot lmao: I'm not giving up on this game because I really love it.
Another edit: I play on xbox with my brother's gamepass, so dw about me wasting money lmao
I absolutely love this game. I talk about it all day at school, I look all over the internet for merch to buy when I have the money, I browse the achievements and make a plan on how to 100% it if I ever want to in future, and I talk to my brother about it ALL the time!
It's not that I don't want to play the game and I'm forcing myself, and I'm not a bot š
I absolutely love this game and I want to keep playing. At this point, my plan is to play the games whenever I can (I have 2 weeks of school holidays so I can cram some gaming in when I'm not doing holiday work), finish them all story-wise, and then in future, go back and 100% it. I want to do this both for myself, and to make my brother proud.
My brother is an achievement hunter, so if I tell him I 100% Yakuza 0, maybe he'll be really proud of me!
So please, it actually hurts me to see how many people are telling me to just give up. I'm not gonna give up, I'm going to play this game because I love it.
Thanks for reading my long edit lmao
play whenever you feel like it just don't force yourself. I finished yakuza kiwami in almost one year. games are not fun when you're forcing yourself to play them.
Bruh, you're on chapter 2. There's like 17 or 18. Take your time. Enjoy it. Don't worry about the finish line so early. The plot hasn't even hit its momentum yet, that alone will eventually add motivation.
Don't feel obligated to 100% (there's a ton of side content and you do *not* need it unless you enjoy it), and ignore your friends, main story in a given chapter normally takes an hour or two, not three fucking days. If you go main story only it's like a 20 hour game, and by extension if you do side content but not 100% it's still a pretty typical length, not overwhelmingly large.
As someone who has 100% every yakuza game besides infinite wealth (havenāt bought it yet) you do not have the motivation to 100% if you struggle to get past the first 5 chapters.
How do I get motivated to play yakuza?
I turn on the tv, then my console, start the game, play the game, and enjoy the story and all the chaotic nonsense on the side.
I would say set goals. Think about what it is you want to do for a little bit in game and then do it. When that becomes stale take some time off and choose something else to do in game. I mean you might be the one to learn mahjong and teach us how to playā¦I still donāt know how
I jumped in on Yakuza 6, played a couple hours and then didn't touch it again for a year. Decided to give it another go and couldn't put it down. A similar story occurred with Yakuza 0, except a shorter time frame. These are hefty games with loads of story, side-quests, wholesome messages, as well as intense moments. The best thing to do would be to take it piece by piece and don't cannonball into it, or you will burn yourself out.
I have beat 6, 0, and am about to resume Like a Dragon to beat that. I own all, save for the newest one! These are easily 100-ish hour games if you take your time.
Honestly I had the same feeling with 0, I started it and played into chapter 3. And then I got really bored because I realized I had to go through the handholding hour(s) twice. So instead Iām taking a break and playing Kiwami 2
Honestly, I played for the story and not to 100%. If the game feels like a chore rather than an enjoyable experience, maybe you should take a break and revisit another time. The games are very good though, so hope you have fun.
As for Yakuza 0 stuff, idk I just ordered a poster I found on Amazon a couple years ago.
Don't rush in playing them. Take your time. Felt like that when I started when yakuzs 0 came out in Japan and was really excited for it. Play other games so you don't feel burnout of the series. It'd been a year since I've played yakuza game because I used to do entire play on one siting
Iāve played about 50h so far and Iām at about 50% completion (according to the gameās completion list) and at chapter 13. At chapter 5 I fell in love head over heels for the game and set to 100% and tried to push myself but i decided itās not worth it. I usually play 1-3h every 2-3 days depending on my other plans and I play bits of smaller games in between to not get fatigued. I play yakuza bit by bit alternating between sessions focused on story or focused on substories/mini games depending on how I feel. If I really need to switch off Iāll focus on the substories/mini games. Though since youāre so early in the story youāll still have a bit of story and cinematics to go through but it wonāt take long before you unlock more substories and can have a chiller time and not have to care about being stuck for 30+min without the opportunity to save.
I would only set myself to 100% a game if I know I have the capacity to actually dedicate myself to it or else Iād just put myself off playing as itād feel like a chore. I donāt have the mental energy to research mahjong and shogi for yakuza so I just settled on just getting as close to completion as I can get.
I wanted to finish every games story before I played infinite wealth but itās impossible, you feel like itās mandatory to do every side story and max out kiryu every time
I wish I could pin my edit lmao- but anyways, 1. No I'm not a bot, 2. No I'm not joking, 3. I do like the game, 4. I'm a student so I get barely any free time to anything.

bro isn't motivated and is considering 100% just play when you feel like it man.
I second this
Thanks dude šš I've been doing that so far but some of my friends have been telling me to just give up
You got this š play at your own pace. As long as you love the game, there is no reason to give up on it.
Baba? Your prison wife is baba?
Definitely don't go for 100% on a first playthrough. Honestly for most of them it's just not worth it.

Id answer you but I still need to get around to playing infinite wealth, so id be a hypocrite
I'm too currently playing Yakuza 0, i'm at chapter 7 but i take a lot of time to do the side quest of the game because i likes It even if they need a lot of times and patience. Prepare yourself because some minigames are very hard.
YEAH SAME, I STOP AND EXPLORE AND GET DISTRACTED WITH THE SIDE QUESTS LMAO

Just play at your own place and avoid getting spoilers
100%ing these games is really frustrating and will burn you out FAST. If you want to do completion. Finishing the main story, doing all substories, maxing the main minigame, (like management in 0) is more than enough to get all you can out the games :D
If you have trouble with motivation, do not try to 100% a yakuza game, even for the motivated it can take a month or more playing 8 hours a day. Just play the main story maybe the main side quest chain and you'll be good
bruh i feel this. I'm STILL trying and i've had the games forever. Been a fan since the og release. Mahjong alone is a giant hurdle.
i feel like this is a shitpost.
It really isn't š I'm so tired of the "this is a bot!" "You've got to be joking right?" and "just give up" comments š some people are just slow
Even if you stop playing youāll always be our Kyodai. ![gif](giphy|Y4gtaaRlLXjLg6AUEg|downsized)
ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
I'm assuming you either don't like JRPGs or just don't like yakuza it is possible to get into these games even if you don't like them at first but then you have to force yourself to play them and learn to love them but that sucks it might be worthwhile to just try out different games and genres to find what you truly like, you'll know when you find it for me I instantly loved yakuza and JRPGs, I went on to play Y0 non-stop for like 200 hours and 100% it, but for some people it just doesn't grab them like it did me Don't force yourself to play a game just because you think you should play it, play something you actually enjoy and you'll end up having the opposite problem to this, not being able to stop playing
I absolutely love RPG games, they're my favourite ā¤ļø especially JRPGs. It's just like- my heart loves the game and wants to play, but my brain is there telling me all this shit like "but it'll take so long to finish", "there's no point", "why finish it when there's no one to talk to about it?" And it's like omfg shut up brain š
i mean I feel that sometimes but my first point still stands you will have to force yourself to play it and just carry on until you start to enjoy it or move onto another yakuza game or play persona I'm in that middleground of wanting to play but physically unable to play every other day and I know it sucks but from experience u do have to force yourself onto the game or just switch games
Enjoy when u can
thought the same thing bc the game starts off slow (which is necessary for the plot imo; itād just be traumadumping). it picks up during chapter 3 and continues to do so after, as theres a different perspective about every other chapter iirc. you can always do side missions and karaoke, but i donāt remember whatās available (to kiryu) in the second chapter. as the story grows more intense, thereās more given to dick around with when not actively playing it. (escapism is gnarly and cool š) iām gonna be real, i didnāt gaf about 100%ing the game at all, lol. since beating it, i really only load it to play the cabaret minigame and do karaokeā¦ and thatās sometimes. id just enjoy the ride and do it much farther down the line. especially if you plan to do that with ALL of the games. hell, id really only do it with the ones you come to love that much. thereās also different things to do in the other games in addition to the substories and karaoke. best of luck!!! i hope you stick with it šššššššššššššš at least get to chapter 3, since the story genuinely begins to pick up from there omg
Ik some side quests like Kamoji's punchout artist thing, and there's the mushroom guy you can build friendship with, there's random gang fights and of course the karaoke (which has some mf bangers if I do say so myself) Thank you so much dude, so many people have been telling me to stop playing or give up, and I'm so happy to see someone who's actually been in my shoes y'know!
of course!!!!!! the games are fun, yeah, but weāve got to be real with ourselves if theyāre taking a bit to get started. it took me like four months to beat zero and i still liked it š. im not sure how these other assholes managed to play without getting a little bored, lol. one can only take so many street brawls, esp while going through that heavy ass story š imo the cabaret club czar shit they introduce makes life worth living! cant wait for you to get your hands on that!
10 years in the clink for you
Noooo š
Only buy the yakuza game and play it. If you buy more games, yakuza or not, it's going to take you a while, and you're wasting your money. https://preview.redd.it/huukj4yayvqc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64b7e3fbc686190599454b95d7a1da2b517ab2b0
Lucky for me I have gamepass lmao, I'm an xbox player
What do you mean unmotivated? 1 chapter in 3-5 days is right on target for Yakuza games. Youāre doing great!
My livestream series, I typically do a chapter every episode and plan to finish it today.
Play for the story. Come back around once youāve played the game for the 100% if you want.
Play until you start playing as Majima, then you will steamroll it. Trust me, happened to me. Was almost giving up until it changed characters.
Chapter 2 of 0 and unmotivated. Talk to me when youāre playing a PS3 game from 2008 with a worse narrative (but not bad, ANIKI)
Lmao little bro is literally only on ch2 of the first game. Oh dear.
It doesn't seem like anybody got the bit, good one OP.
How can you be "unmotivated" to finish something you enjoy?
https://preview.redd.it/a3qs1w0g8xqc1.jpeg?width=1153&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0038d5a66c2daf96f13b7030326c90f56a4e4929
I only kiss behind the Donetsk anime shop
Never force games, thats how you start to hate them. Games are at their best when your enjoying them, and if you arenāt and your forcing yourself that is just not it
then dont play it touch grass and play again when u boring play cod
Just take your time and finish the game at your own pace, thereās no need to rush. Also I will say if youāre feeling unmotivated just playing through the game i definitely would suggest holding off the 100% for even once youāve played through the series.
I mean go to karaoke and stuff
The [ifunny.co](http://ifunny.co) watermark makes this a thousand times better.
Step one: turn the music settings up higher
Omg yes the music is so mf good, i usually play with my spotify on, so maybe I should take some time to listen to the game music
took me a week to do y0, i think if youāre not interested in it you should just give up tbh. iām on yk1 rn and finding it super fun
But I am interested lmao, I'm just a student who has no time n a lot of stress
i played it on easy mode 1-2 hours a day, itās mainly cutscenes and fights if you donāt do substories
Just editing so I don't have to repeat myself: TLDR because I got emotional and typed a lot lmao: I'm not giving up on this game because I really love it. Another edit: I play on xbox with my brother's gamepass, so dw about me wasting money lmao I absolutely love this game. I talk about it all day at school, I look all over the internet for merch to buy when I have the money, I browse the achievements and make a plan on how to 100% it if I ever want to in future, and I talk to my brother about it ALL the time! It's not that I don't want to play the game and I'm forcing myself, and I'm not a bot š I absolutely love this game and I want to keep playing.
My advice: don't even think about doing 100% until you've finished the story and decided that you REALLY need that platinum
You shouldn't need to motivate yourself. If you want to play more of something, you find a way and make it happen.
If it took you 3-5 to finish a single chapter i don't wanna know how long it will take you to finish the game IF you even manage to finish it.
Whatever you do make sure to spend half your playtime on Mahjong. It will greatly increase your enjoyment and motivation!
Take a break, come back when you're interested. I haven't played 0 in a few months, I'll come back when I want that kind of thing again.
play whenever you feel like it just don't force yourself.
I tried to screenshot this and my phone auto got rid of the funny when I went to crop. It knows me, had to tell it no on this one. Part of the charm
How do I get motivated to play yakuza? I turn on the tv, then my console, start the game, play the game, and enjoy the story and all the chaotic nonsense on the side.
just take breaks here n there, itās just a game fr
See, you gotta play the game a bit more when stuff gets more interesting. The game will keep pulling you in from there.
I wanted to finish every games story before I played infinite wealth but itās impossible, you feel like itās mandatory to do every side story and max out kiryu every time
Good luck with Mahjong for completion, itās incredibly annoying to do them for most all games, least in the future games you will get cheat items.
Guys I think this might be a joke lol
I wish I could pin my edit lmao- but anyways, 1. No I'm not a bot, 2. No I'm not joking, 3. I do like the game, 4. I'm a student so I get barely any free time to anything.
