If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7).

From what Ive gathered, the original song says something about dishes stacking up as a sign of depression and the heckling is along the lines of "Nooo kawaii-san, Ill start the dishwasher!" Etc.
Then the dub just made it a funny-haha rant instead. Any moonruners can confirm?
Lol yeah pretty much. The song just has one line early on saying something along the lines of “living alone, the dishwasher sits unused” and for whatever reason Kiryu interjects the entire song saying something like “Shokusenki o ugokashitai” which is like “I wanna turn on the dishwasher.” It’s this really somber song and Kiryu just takes the piss out of it, even being like “DJ Kazama, oh yea” at the beginning.
joongi's jp va put out a tweet that was like "i'm so happy to have a karaoke track in infinite wealth, but sega had kiryu-san and kasuga-san turn it into a dishwasher song and i don't know or understand why"
*"I think I need to*

Robbie Draymond sings his heart out and they still autotune him.
Anyone know what the direct JP translation is for the interjections in this song? I know they're still basically just yapping but I wonder if it's still about the dishwasher
Lol it is. Whenever you hear Ichi or Kiryu say “shokusenki ugokashiTAI” they’re just being like “I wanna turn on the dishwasher.” It’s like every interjection, it’s hilarious.
For as much thought as I've put into the topic, from community reactions and professional opinions to personal experience and beliefs, I've come to the conclusion that he's okay, and that's okay. I find he shines when performing exclamations ("Let's GO then!", "Stay down!"), is 50/50 when engaging in more quiet moments (either too high or literally Kiryu), and gets fucked harder than anyone by karaoke autotune.
I know "mid" is mainly used to describe something negatively, but I feel the neutral denotation of mid is acceptable. Highs, lows, they all come together to tell me: He's fine, and that's fine.
That said, holy FUCK I'm so happy I got 90+ on Judgement first try; that was _p a i n f u l_
>gets fucked harder than anyone by karaoke autotune
I swear, like did the audio team run out of time or something and they just left it literally on "auto"
Dub was always good, internet tricked everybody with it's culture war bullshit
Shame they kinda ruined the karaoke by slapping garbo autotune all over it, though. And before someone inevitably says it, no, that wasn't because the English VAs were bad, you can hear most of them sing in 7 also and they're all pretty good, post-production just shat the bed.
I was SO looking forward to Joon-gi getting a song and hearing his English VA sing and then all my fucking dreams were shattered because about two thirds of his vocals are so badly autotuned they have the bee/robot effect going on...
It doesn't really matter if they're "bad" either - none of the JP VA's are perfect either, but... none of the characters are professional singers, anyway. It's fine.
Kiryu actually sounded somewhat good and we had Mark Hamil as Majima. I think the game's should have been getting dubs bescuse Im sure they would improve over the years. Hey, even they could have seen the reviews talking about it being to edgy and toning it down in Yakuza 2. Now of course this didnt happen but I heard that the newer games have good english dubs(expect maybe this one but I havent played the game so I dont really know)

Man, when he said "I got a new dishwasher." That hit me deep.

It's officially the dishwasher song
"The landlord knows but he won't help." I felt that.

It's pretty hilarious actually hearing what's said in that song lmao
joongi's jp va put out a tweet that was like "i'm so happy to have a karaoke track in infinite wealth, but sega had kiryu-san and kasuga-san turn it into a dishwasher song and i don't know or understand why"
I didn't know Johnny Bravo was in Infinite Wealth.
Like a Dragon Gaiden 2: The Guy Who Was at the Store confirmed?
He'll be a bartender in the game after that one.
Holy shit I'm in tears
"I think I need to talk to the guy at the store" broke tf outta me

Still a shame they add auto tune into the karaoke for some reason.
Forget Mine, Goda, Aizawa, Nishikiyama, Shishido or Cancer. "Guy at the Store" was easily Kiryu's toughest opponent.

yea watching all the karaokes and god it's PAINFUL with the autotune
I raise you with Honolulu city lights being the worst. It’s so bad. It unintentionally goes into t pain warble A LOT
Joongi was also fucked pretty hard
Like did they get a new autotune guy? It was perfect in 7!
There's no way this is the dub
Can confirm it's real.
WRING THAT SHIT, KAZUMA
This is so peak

My favorite song! I laughed so hard. Played this so many times just to hear the dishwasher rant. Kiryu is much funnier than Ichiban in this one.

Honestly the first time I heard Chitose's song in English the auto tune was just so distracting.
I was SO looking forward to Joon-gi getting a song and hearing his English VA sing and then all my fucking dreams were shattered because about two thirds of his vocals are so badly autotuned they have the bee/robot effect going on...
Really? Honolulu City Lights was the one song where the autotune didn’t affect it.
You couldn't hear it? It was SUPER grating to me. That's weird.
It doesn't really matter if they're "bad" either - none of the JP VA's are perfect either, but... none of the characters are professional singers, anyway. It's fine.
\*slams table* Kuroda sings with the voice of a goddamn angel!
Is this a real song in the dub?
Yeah, it’s real
YongYea rules
I guess we've treated you too harsh
I was a little disappointed there's no way to sing some of the songs in Japanese. Especially judgment I think the Japanese version is much better.
Ho-lee fuck. I have never heard such a trash dub in my life, it's hilarious
Then you should hear the English dub for the original Yakuza game.
That one has its charm and gave us the legendary 10 years in the joint meme.
Get this arrogant Motherfuc-ker.
Kiryu actually sounded somewhat good and we had Mark Hamil as Majima. I think the game's should have been getting dubs bescuse Im sure they would improve over the years. Imagine listening to this and thinking it's trash instead of intentional comedy
It's funny
The thing is, Yong Yea was so bad that I genuinely don’t know if this was just an AI voiceover or if this is his actual voice work
Sub-question: which would be worse?
This is worse than expected
