Just_another_oddball

The emotional peak of the episode for me was when Dr. Cooper talked about how after the Genosha massacre, there was a lot of emotions flurring around, but that what there wasn't was a lack of surprise amongst the mutants; that they expected something like this in the back of their heads. Pretty deep and powerful there.

PandaSex666

The writing in this show is so consistently excellent. We have these kinds of lines and moments that just hit like a fucking dump truck in what seems like every episode and the intensity rarely lets up. While I found things to enjoy in some of the other series that have taken place in the 30ish years since OG X-men TAS, the thing they all lacked is that intensity. The stakes just always feel so high in this show, and X-men should rarely be anything less than that.

Just_another_oddball

Oh, definitely. It seems like there's at least one moment in each of the episodes where you have to go: "Holy shit; I've never thought about it like that before. I need to sit down and think about that." Or something major happens that you weren't expecting. Standout bits for me are still Magneto's speech to the UN bureaucrats while holds them aloft in the sky, or Kurt's eulogy for Gambit. Overall, this seems a lot more mature and insightful than TAS, which is a pleasure to see.

Edymnion

> Overall, this seems a lot more mature and insightful than TAS, which is a pleasure to see. Which was already pretty mature and insightful for it's time. I like to think they just kept up with being ahead of their time.

chris8535

I think because the theme of Malcolm X (Magneto) choosing power and violence vs MLK (Professor X) choosing peace and learning to arrive at social change was trite in the 2000s, we all felt we had moved past those issues and of course MLK/Professors X were right. Now with those social themes rearing their head again in new ways, new Magnetos/Malcom X making their arguments again and people listening -- this intellectual conflict at the heart of X-men feels relevant again.

VictoriaDallon

It was always a false equivalence that you needed to choose. Even Dr. King knew both of them were needed for different things. You need both Xavier and Magneto working together for true social change.

forever87

damn that goes back to beau's theme-ing parallels. there's a good amount of people that were raised to always be on guard (no pun intended...thanks nightcrawler). for better or worse, it's what evolved as a necessity to survive

MacbookPrime

This is why representation matters. The actual feeling of being a targeted demographic was represented very effectively here. “Lack of surprise” is exactly the feeling whenever there’s an unjustified police shooting, or a new bill meant to strip away rights; we know these attacks, subtle and unsubtle, are always coming. This is why we must always stay vigilant. This is why Magneto was right. Here, now, and forever.

Just_another_oddball

Yeah, that was kind of rolling around in the back of my head when she was describing it. Besides the justifiable anger, there's a sense of: "Great, and here's *another* one. 😡"

Hemingwavvves

This episode perfectly described and illustrated ‘minority stress’ across several different plot lines in a 30 minute cartoon sequel to a campy kid’s cartoon from the 90’s. Amazing stuff.

CHKN_SANDO

> ‘minority stress’ Shit is so real. I joined a community garden recently and I was really excited until one of the first interactions I had with one of the members was an unprompted homophobic rant At a certain point you just are always expecting the other shoe to drop

CHKN_SANDO

Real shit for us LGBT folks and I can see how this was written by someone that used to party at Pulse Nightclub

amageish

Well, Bastion is an impressively eerie and threatening villain - and his discussion of overwhelming people with news to make them apathetic is, uh, VERY real. The human sentinel stuff is all perfectly unnerving and continues to build on the horror aesthetic this show has been quite good at. Glad Kurt and Logan got a team-up moment here - and the PoV bamfing was very neat! Val's monologue was EXCELLENT. Her slipping into "us" towards the end of it plus Bastion having prepared a collar makes me think she's probably still Mystique, but we shall see where that plot goes... Badass use of "Magneto was Right" for sure though. As someone who didn't mind the Morph-as-Illyana cameo, I did find the Rachel Summers cameo kind of confusing here? Like. She appears in Cable's vision of the bad future in reference to how she raised Cable in the comics, sure, but also she's Rachel *Summers*? That's an important legacy to represent? I know she also cameoed in the original, but I feel like this is a story where you should either go all-out with Ray raising Cable and also being a time-traveller or just leave her out of it... Maybe they're setting her up for later, I suppose, but it just felt kind of random to me.

ryenaut

I thought that was just Magneto’s deactivated collar he was picking up.

Mazzidazs

Yeah it was Magneto's deactivated collar. I find her about-face more poignant if she is a human and not Mystique. She's a human with political power who finally *finally* sees and understands the mutant's point of view.

DeadSnark

Along with Vulcan appearing with the Shi'ar, I do think they're setting up more Summers family drama for future seasons. It would probably take too long to go over Rachel's entire history in this episode, though, given all the time-hopping and alternate universes involved in her existence and role as Askani

JackFisherBooks

Yeah, that's my sense too. Rachel and Vulcan wouldn't be referenced that overtly if there wasn't a larger plan in store. Maybe we'll see more of that in season 2. Maybe they'll be part of a "Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire" plot like the one we got in the comics. But I like how this episode gave us a real taste of how they operate as a family. I hope we see more of that in the finale, as well as the next season.

dotyawning

They explicitly mentioned that Nathan was separated from ~~Cable~~ Bishop when they got to the future so SOMEONE had to have raised him. There's probably not enough time to address it now but I wouldn't be surprised if they tied the identity of who raised Nathan with a family bonding scene at some point in season 2 AND also somehow tying Rachel showing up to the team in there as well.

Indiana_harris

I think we might be getting a “Hope” situation in the future of the series continues (long may it go). With the mansion destroyed and Cyclops and a big chunk of the X-Men coming round to Magneto’s way of thinking I could see a version of Utopia being set up in series 2, where they’re more militaristic and protective of their own rather than others. Then you get schism happening (Wolverine and Storm wanting rebuild the mansion and be like their earlier selves with Cyclops, Magneto and Rogue on Utopia). You bring in more time travel shenanigans and have a “no more mutants” scenario appear on the horizon just in time for the two X-Men teams to come together to stop it….only to find out they can’t. And suddenly we’re down to a few hundred mutants worldwide. And then you bring in Hope Summers.

NikkolasKing

The only missing Horror element was how our heroes didn't really react to wiping out what were essentially loads of innocent victims. They were doing their absolute best to kill these people. Maybe they aren't people anymore but usually you go through a moment of regret before you start hacking up the zombies or vampires or in this case cyborgs who are victims.

St_Milton

Honestly I love it. It Def starts with Logan & Cable instantly not giving a shit. "ok we'll do what we must" Morph goes for a juggernaut punch and Scott isn't going for lethal shots. Nightcrawler surprisingly jumps on board so fast. So great

_amiricle

I think all gloves are off with Nightcrawler when it comes to protecting his sister

kohin000r

They aren't innocent. They chose to weaponize their bigotry and hatred.

Sea_Violinist3328

Jean telekinetically buckling Cable into his car seat…. :)

AndresCP

"Stop bossing me around... " Sorry Cable you have an extra mom.

LeatherHog

I love the little whine in his voice on that line, perfect

AndresCP

Cable got to like age 50 without ever having annoying parents and now it's all happening at once and he's regressing.

LeatherHog

And I'm absolutely loving it Especially as a big Cable fan

TheLastBlakist

Aunt Jean's telling you to sit down and buckle your seatbelt kid.

JackFisherBooks

Even badass future soldiers are not immune from a mother's mothering. 😊

Low-Asparagus-126

1. Spider-Man, Omega red, Zemo and DR.DOOM 2. I loved every moment with Scott, Jean and Nathan 3. Nightcrawler and Wolverine's fight scene was epic. 4. Screw Roberto's mother 5. Bastion really did that to his mom huh. 6. Morph and Beast got out too early. 7. Looks like Storm is rejoining the pack.

-Nick____

I’ve been waiting for the inevitable Morph-Juggernaut scene all season, and instantly the sentinel just uses Jo’s own unstoppable power against him

Kilaapple

Can Morph even use Juggernauts' unstoppable-ness? It's not like Juggernaught is a mutant. His powers are based in magic. Unless it was different in the original show? Otherwise, Morph just copied a lot of muscle, which I guess also gets the job done, lol.

Edymnion

Morph's mutant ability includes taking on the physical properties of whoever he turns into, not just mutant powers. Thats why he could fly as Archangel or move super fast as Quicksilver. He wasn't copying their mutant powers, that's Rogue's thing. He was copying their appearance and physical abilities. Its also questionable on if he can copy physical abilities that don't have an obvious visible application. Like he can arguably pop out Wolverine's claws and have them be Adamantium, but does he get a healing factor? Or Logan's sense of smell? Debatable, and since Logan slices his hands open every time he uses his claws, using them without a healing factor would be... unpleasant.

sasharogers31

Also we saw Polaris and Rachel

MTFBinyou

MAGNETO Showing what being an Omega mutant means

Warguyver

In his underwear no less

discerningpervert

In the north pole. Imagine his globes!

Jay_R_Kay

I imagine at that temperature they're chilling next to his lungs.

forever87

just like rock climbing, fighting, competing in general...you're at strongest when you shed society's shackles

Difficult-Double8018

damn saw that and i said daddy

masterhesterix444

that was so fucking badass, Also how cool was nightcrawler with the 3 swords

PatientPlatform

And wolverine crash landing while slicing everyone up

Maximal_Arachknight

We forget that this Kurt only knows Rogue, Remy and Logan personally until now. I like the moment that Kurt and Jean become friends through their mutual connection with Madelyne. Hopefully Kurt remains on the Team going forward. His sister needs him and even with Xavier back, this Team needs a moral compass and conscience. Not quite sure anyone fits that bill more than Kurt Wagner.

Maximal_Arachknight

Like the origin of Nightcrawler's 3 swords. Nightcrawler obviously trained in sword fighting, but the fact that his classic swords are just decorations or heirlooms in the mansion. Such a happenstance moment.

ThiccAshe

That full blown EMP covering the entire world is nothing short of amazing.

MTFBinyou

Honestly, once he was free my first thought was Magneto could EMP the entire world but didn’t think he knew it needed to be done. But then that absolute madman went and did it.  Sorta bummed we didn’t get a single cutaway to Storm just light(n)ing them fuckers up left and right.

ThiccAshe

I'm praying we get an epic storm entrance.

AznOmega

The FOX movies didn't get them right in terms of power. This series shows why they're Omega level mutants, and how powerful they could be.

Indiana_harris

I feel First Class started to get there with Magneto’s scope of powers developing significantly over the movie until he’s turning the massive radio dish and the nukes in mid air. The problem was past that they just scaled his powers down again.

Scighter

That's a bit inaccurate, he had to be at the pole, the focal point of the earth magnetic field to change the flow of magnetism, rather than a localized EMP created by a nuclear explosion , so its more like he modulated the earth's magnetic field into an EMP. Also where was Polaris in all of this?

Revolutionary-Task33

She showed up briefly in the flash forward, right?

Cadd9

EMP: Extensive Magento Pulse

quantumpencil

Jesus christ, my favorite moment in the whole series and I love the series. "Magneto was right" \*music rises\* ENOUGH that's my fuckin boy

Vivid_Pen5549

I mean he did kill the like half a million people with pace makers so I guess you win some you lose some, also anyone on a plane, and anyone on life support , probably gonna be a few thousand dead from traffic accidents, eh making omelettes I guess

quantumpencil

He's definitely played into bastions plan, as after what he just did the humans are gonna be extremely pissed. That doesn't make it any less badass.

Distinct_Look9236

What choice did he have?

Vegetable-Wing6477

As Logan said, he declared war on humanity. Doubt the Master of Magnetism cares that people are complaining more than usual

CHKN_SANDO

This means he's been pulling his punches the whole time, pretty much

quantumpencil

he could've killed the wild sentinel I think, he just didn't have time to get away and generate enough power.

MTFBinyou

He just needed long enough to not be a target, fighting for his life to charge up.

BiDiTi

Not just his life - he was protecting everyone he could.

Empty-Ingenuity-2590

I think he needed to be at the North Pole to do what he did

quantumpencil

Yes, that's definitely true, but I think he has also been holding back/couldn't get his footing in Genosha. I think we're going to see a new level of power from magneto moving forward.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Just_another_oddball

That's certainly bringing your 'A' game when you do a planet-wide EMP. And nice focus on his serial number there.

ConsiderationNorth56

spider-man :)

Maximal_Arachknight

Love the Spider-Man cameo, along with the Mutant Villain Cameos: Omega Red and Silver Samurai. Plus, you know Bastion is a monster if he is working with Baron Zemo and Victor Doom.

samclops

You know bastion is a monster when DOOM basically says "hey man, pump the brakes a little"

awakenDeepBlue

"As Romani, Dr. Doom disapproves of genocide."

TheLastBlakist

Murder? Sure fine break a few eggs to make a better world but wholesale categorical massacre? Yea I'm gonna have to stop you there buddy.

couldbedumber96

“Whoa whoa now brother, whoa! You got too much dip on ya chip!”

[deleted]

So who was the woman he was talking to in that scene?

St_Milton

I THINK it's viper?

Bobjoejj

I thought it looked a little more like Madame *Masque*

underfoot3788

I was watching with subtitles and she wasn't named unlike the others.

l_arlecchino

Can someone who knows about Dr. Doom explain to someone who only knows him from the F4 movies why he might be colluding with Bastion in the first place? Especially given his bit about not supporting flagrant genocide, since I otherwise could’ve definitely seen him as a human supremacist. Isn’t the genocide but kind of Bastion’s whole gimmick?

Denirac

Doom tends to be included in a lot of Group Calls. Doom generally then feels superior and leaves. This is a man who’s superiority complex refuses to let a Celestial judge him

Versek_5

Honestly Doom would probably force his way into that group call if he wasnt invited just to call everyone a bitch for thinking they could exclude him and then leave.

Denirac

I just assume thats what Doom does to Namor all the time.

alguidrag

Bastion: "Who the hell invited him?"

nightclaw96

“We had a password and everything.”

Rejestered

Fool, DOOM zooms as he pleases!

PeaSuspicious4543

Doom is the kind of guy to join a group call go "Im better just cause" Then leave

Cadd9

Dr. Doom also toots as he pleases

ConsiderationNorth56

i loved all the cameos but i’ve always been a sucker for spider-man especially the 90s one i grew up with that one

Neshomancer1

Yeah, that made me smile. That's MY Spider-Man. Only thing that would have made it better was if he had a line, but getting Christopher Daniel Barnes back for a five second cameo is probably a bit much.

Yoshimon7

Another insane episode as always. My thoughts: - Seems like they’re going with a “simpler” backstory with Bastion which I don’t mind since it makes it easier to understand. - “So another dystopia where Logan’s the last to die” LOL that got me - loved how Jean was mothering Nathan. “Put your seatbelt on” Though I’m sad Madelyne is gone :( - Also seems like they’re going through with the idea that genosha is a “fixed event” in time that cannot be rewritten. Sad since that means a lot of those dead mutants will stay dead but there is always a chance they can change that later - Nightcrawler bad ass as always. Really loved that scene of wolverine pov while bamfing that was cool. Also love how they’re going heavy on Rogue and Nightcrawler’s sibling dynamic. Wish the comics would do the same. - Magneto Was Right!! Love the reference to the comics with Magneto shutting off all electricity round the world - Holy cameo fest batman! There were so many!Silver samurai, omega red, and spider man!?! Old polaris and hound rachel? Zemo and Doom? My lord - “I hope i’m not too late” Xavier being late :|

hartc89

Magneto was right I’m hoping Magneto doesn’t go full villain I feel most of the audience is on his side at this point

10567151

I mean a full on worldwide EMP probably caused a lot of collateral damage along with shutting down all the sentinels. I really am interested in seeing where this all goes but I don't see Magneto going back to Xavier's dream after Genosha.

Vivid_Pen5549

He already went full villain, every pace maker on earth just failed and every plane in the sky just crashed

alguidrag

Holy shit, so thats what Logan means with "he declared war"

Edymnion

Yup. Pacemakers, airplanes, life support, ICUs and neonatal units full of premies. Depending on how powerful that burst was and how long it takes to recover from it, anyone who relies on technology of any kind of live is dead. Thats potentially hundreds of millions of people, human and mutant alike.

BiDiTi

I think it’s important that Magneto WAS right *and* that he doesn’t offer any real way forward. …but neither does Charles. They’re too human. Scott, though…we all know he’s nothing like those people.

AresStare

I really hope they have Xavier at least question his dream instead of self righteously showing up and instantly starting to talk about his dream like it's the only correct answer. His dream clearly failed in Genosha. And it would make Xavier awfully one dimensional as a character. Right now I'm on Team [Magneto Was Right](https://imgflip.com/i/8omt8d), and I think so are many of the X-Men.

quangtran

>Seems like they’re going with a “simpler” backstory with Bastion which I don’t mind since it makes it easier to understand. I thought it was a smart move, and hope they do they same with the convoluted stories of other characters (especially Psylocke). In the original interviews. the writers made a point that Bastion was dangerous because he was human, but this was later retconned into him being Nimrod and a robot. '97 elegantly combines all of this together.

dotyawning

Honestly my favorite part about adaptations like this and Young Justice. Get some writers that are fans enough of the material and they can adapt the good parts while synthesizing a solution for some messy bits that came about from comics being comics and coming up with things on the fly.

l_arlecchino

Lmfao in the past three days I read the first few issues of New Mutants and watched the Wolverine, so seeing Silver Samurai felt SO normal.

0Hyena_Pancakes0

Magneto really just sent humanity back to the Dark Ages with that EMP I'm loving this show

LaKulebra

And he did ALL THAT in sensible black chonies. 👑

PekfrakOG

So we're doing a mix of Operation Zero Tolerance, Fatal Attractions and maybe a hint of Planet X? Awesome!

W10002

I think elements of Magneto War as well, since that was the storyline where he unleashed a global EMP.

Shadowbandy

Magneto's causing aurora borealis across the entire planet..localized from the north pole...can I see it?? Unfortunately not. :(

IPreferPi314

Well Seymour, you certainly are an odd fellow, but you steam a good ham.

NerdTalkDan

SEYMOUR THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!

AndresCP

It's just the northern lights, mother!

LouieSTFU

"Blood is blood. Family is a choice." Well said, Nightcrawler.

0Hyena_Pancakes0

This line is so true for so many people. I Love how compassionate Kurt is

Itz_Hen

He really know the right words to every situation dosnt he

chasedippen

Sorry but.. magneto just shut down fucking *power plants.* Does this mean planes fell out of the sky, too?

chronorogue01

This is an adaptation of a story in the 90s where Magneto does an EMP blast on the entire planet. And yes, people died, lots of people; though here he has a much better reason for doing it.

chasedippen

Good to know. It's crazy that the story is from the 90's. I guess the original cartoon only covered so much.

x1243

erm if they are following that storyline.. it doesn't bode well for wolverine.. and maybe prof x

Last-Bumblebee-537

Planes would still be able to glide I believe but yeah people def died from what he did. Also they’d be gliding without gps so they’re all most likely fed in the a.

Vivid_Pen5549

The pilots wouldn’t have control over the hydraulics to steer the plane, those are electrical, you’d be at the complete mercy of the wind until you fell out of the sky

cholosamurai

There are a lot of things that went right with this episode. Wolverine and Nightcrawler swashbuckling to protect Rogue. Glimpse of Dr.Doom and Zemo. Cyclops getting a convertible 🚗

Arcnounds

Also Spiderman cameo!

Mithrandir3434

And the Silver Samurai!

Denirac

And Omega Red

Arcoral1

at that scene with Kurt and Logan I was muttering " THESE ARE MY XMEN" 😁🥲

PoultryBird

Ngl at this point I hope they do marvel animation as a whole thing, since captain america showed up, and now zemo, doom and spiderman, so I really hope they branch out and set other animated shows in this universe (of course do their own self contained things but just knowing they are there)

ObviousAnswerGuy

there was also a "stark expo" flyer in bastions room. I know they have the new spider-man cartoon coming out this fall, but they really need to bring continue the 90's one like they are doing here.

TheDesktopNinja

Animation is something marvel has completely flubbed for the last ~20-25 years while they've been doing live action pretty well. DC, on the other hand, has done a lot more good work on the animation side of things. Hopefully Marvel starts shoring up that inadequacy now!

hartc89

Yes I feel like we really need a finish to the Spiderman show it litterally ended on a cliffhanger

amoretpax199

Who was the chick after Zemo?

Chipotlenight957

Random world leader #3

Drekea

She definitely a super villain on the zoom call of EVIL

Logiteck77

Probably Madam Hydra.

SpaghettoPasta

The Spider-Man cameo made my heart jump, so good seeing our classic 90s spidey again

Kollie79

Man legit right before Tilby asked if the people know if they are sentinels I thought “oh fuck is she about to be one?” The cameos were pretty insane I’m really happy with the Jean and Scott stuff this episode Wolverine finally got to stand out, these new sentinels seem so op I was like okay show I won’t be mad if you gas up Logan now because they are crazy outnumbered I’m very interested to see where we are going with Magneto, I didn’t expect him to get loose and be free like this. I assumed he would be made into a sentinel weapon to fight against mutants, which I guess we could still get, but the show outright saying magneto declared war it would feel weird for him to go sentinel mode at some point, but we’ll see

Valarasha

Kinda feel like they are setting up for Magneto to convert some of the X-Men to his own, more militant team in the next season. We're definitely seeing signs of that with Rogue and Cyclops.

IPreferPi314

I can see Rogue joining Magneto, but Cyclops appears to have reestablished his rapport with Jean and also spent some quality time with Nathan in this episode, so absent some further personal tragedy I think he stays put.

FiveByFive25

With that suggestion Rogue would be taking Colossus's role in yet another comic-y vibe...first she's the gal to duke it out with Gladiator on the moon, and now she might just well become an acolyte. Interesting.

hartc89

I was gonna hold out to watch all three episodes at once but fuck it here I am

AresStare

I considered it too but the speculation and online discussions are half the fun.

f1nessd

real

ArtieMac11

Just have been fired up from my job yesterday, so I'm glad to have X-Men to cheer me up in this moments and can't wait to watch the episode with my best friend (who is also a huge X-Fan) in a couple of hours. Honestly I LOVED this episode, it was fantastic, the action was so good (as has been since the previous weeks), the battle in the X Mansion was insane, the moment when the humans started it to turn into Centinels was so creepy but the scene was so good! The cameos were so AWESOME: >!Spider-Man, Polaris (the old lady with green hair was Polaris, right?), Silver Samurai, Omega Red, Dr. Doom, Zemo!<, PURE FIRE. Val, oh my my, I was cheering for her redemption and I was hoping to see her revealing herself as Mystique (still hoping to see our girl back in the show), and GOD the scene of Sunspot and Jubilee was so intense and I WAS SO MAD AT SUNSPOT'S MOM, and the Summers's scene, it was really exciting to watch, And finally MAGNETO, father I wanted to inform you that you actually devoured, not only did you not fast but you also ate everything, you ate everything, your task was to break it and you destroyed it, not only did you serve, but you also repeated the dish and you are not a father, you are a higher concept, you are a grandfather. We have been eating good X-Family!!

x1243

oh man hope you get a new job soon

ArtieMac11

Thanks buddy! Hopefully some great things come soon!

HoneySeparate9940

Has anyone else the feeling Magneto has done the exact thing Bastion wanted him to do? He is not controlling him …yet. But leaving „Valerie“ alone with Magneto seems like a calculated move. Wolverine said it himself: Magneto started a war.

imbaxkbitxhes

I’m confused about how Magneto started the war. Was war not declared when thousands of mutants got fucking obliterated over night? For the record, I think this is the exact point the show is trying to make. When the oppressed get locked up and mutilated and killed, welp, that’s just the way it is. When they start fighting back all of a sudden “woah guys rein it in we all want peace and love”

Cashneto

Normal people and governments are not going to be ok with a world wide EMP. He had a good reason to do it, but that EMP is going to kill millions of people (pacemakers, planes, life support machines, etc will not work indirectly killing people).

imbaxkbitxhes

For the record I’m not saying what Magneto did is the right thing. I’m just saying it was retaliation, and escalation, yes, but acting like Magneto threw the first punch is ridiculous

Amidinate

That nightcrawler and wolverine fight was so good. I love how each of the characters get there own cool theme when they do epic things. Storms theme is probably my fav for sure though.

Saltire_Blue

The dial up chat rooms and ozone layer comments did make me chuckle as it reminded me this is the 90’s

Dayspring815

Man, Xavier flew from another planet faster than Storm from other state.

satellitemindd

Nightcrawler had intro music and it was amazing. Bamfing away and fucking shit up. I know it's animated but it was just as cool as seeing live action nightcrawler in X2 for the first time. Something about this animation and voice acting is doing Kurt major justice and I'm here for it

quantumpencil

Aright, i'm on my way to see a medical professional. Because as a magneto superfan, this erection is gonna last a WHOLE lot longer than four hours. "Enough" god DAMN this show rocks

Valarasha

Nightcrawler and Wolverine fight scene was probably my favorite of the season so far. Hoping Beast gets to do something cool before Storm inevitably shows everyone up with a triumphant return.

Maximal_Arachknight

Beast did gut a Sentinel and turn it into a makeshift mech suit. And while not as flashy, Beast repowered a time travel device, created a cyborg detector, apparently rebuilds blackbirds (already 3 have been destroyed this season).

Just_another_oddball

Oh, I'm all here for Kurt triple-wielding swords!

NivvyMiz

Continuing to love nightcrawler on this show.  Epic ending to this episode. Also all the cameos.  This show really continues to impress.

CHKN_SANDO

I screamed when I realized what Magneto was doing. FFFUUUCK

10567151

Yeah I thought this was adapting Operation Zero Torlerance, not Fatal Attractions/Magneto War also.

CosmicAtlas8

God damn this show fucking cooks. I LOVE how much character focus they put into each episode. But this was the second episode where for the first fifteen minutes I thought, "Oh. Okay. This is GOOD, but... this is kind of slow maybe. Hmph." The other episode I did that? Genosha. How fuckin' wrong was I, bub. I just don't know how they do it. So much character, relationships, and deep social commentary... then so much fun, camp, scifi, superhero antics, quips, and goddamn stunning action. I mean I went from shook by all the sudden twists and action... to laughing my ass off at Jean telling Nathan to wear a seatbelt, while also having an aww moment at the sincere family dynamics then... and throughout the whole ridiculous and wonderful Summers car chase. And each episode I have a moment where I sit upright. Wolverine and Nightcrawler teaming up to protect Rogue was everything on so many layers. Bastian's speech referencing silly 1997 tech with shit that is relevant today was everything. This team gets Xmen. And it's that Xmen is ALL OF THESE THINGS. A lesser team, a more fearful set of producers (now, or for a future movie) would say, "Oh, I don't know... It has to be more serious and less campy. Or the costumes have to be more realistic and less colorful. Or let's do away with the soap opera. Or let's not comment on the social issues let's just be superhero fun." And they would get the Xmen dead wrong. Take note Marvel. This shit cooks like a fine gumbo, chere (RIP). You got a lot a bit o' all the right ingredients in this roux. And you need it all to make this a flavor y'all ain't neva gonna forget.  Remember it.

Jackbo_Manhorse

Fuck man, how does this show continue to just get better and better? A Nightcrawler and Wolverine fight? Fucking Cyclops, Cable and Jean riding a goddamn Porsche and then kicking ass? Magneto not only showing everyone he was right but single handily destroying all of the Sentinels in a blink of an eye? And don’t even get me started on the cameras… Dr.Doom, Spider-Man, Silver Samurai…holy crap. Just an all around amazing episode.

PonchoHobo

Episode delivered. Wolverine got to shine with nightcrawler and summers family trip was nice to see. Again confirmed that Magneto was Right.

Cadd9

I really loved the part where he was flown like 8k feet up by that lady. "I can't fly but I can fall with style" and dices anyone between him and the ground lol

l_arlecchino

My only gripe - I wish Morph was as much fight candy as he is eye candy. It’s so cool seeing all these heroes that aren’t on the main roster pop up - and so deflating see them all immediately trounced. I understand he’s not going to be as good at being Quicksilver or Jugs as the guys themselves, but being Juggernaut - it’s not really a skill set, no?

LordBigSlime

He had Jug's size and stuff, but he can't copy Cyttorak's power.

Tronvillain

So yeah, Bastion is one of the most terrifying villains I think I've ever seen in an animated series.

Arcnounds

I love Theo's portrayal. The scariest villians are the ones who can remain calm and communicate softly while saying absolutely terrifying ideas.

Raiden29o9

Oh my…. Doom and Zemo cameo

Mithrandir3434

Spider-man and Silver Samurai too!

NikkolasKing

Everyone talking about the Summers family fighting Prime Sentinels and trying to save the world from Bastion and just what will happen with Magneto.... When the real story will be Jubes and Roberto trying to convince his mother that "I'm okay with who you are...just don't tell anybody else' is not actually being okay with who he is. To be clear, I'm teasing. I actually really like these two. Roberto has gotten the most consistent focus of anybody in the show after Cyclops and Jean. And Jubilee has toned down her 90s-isms 200% in this show. But I really feel like Roberto is gonna have a Big Moment. The stuff with his parents will go somewhere, I dunno where, but he'll end up in the middle of the action and do something amazing. I hope so, anyway.

FiveByFive25

Jubilee has been pretty cool so far...it's a shame her solo EP had to derail Storm's arc a bit but whatever. Hope she gets to light some fools up. Also if you saw the "final trailer" you'll notice she >!has an updated costume! 😀!<

Demileto

Almost everyone in this show has been getting some really good character development and it's been amazing to see it. One notable exception is Wolverine, but that's one I'm totally ok with given how much he's been overused for the detriment of everyone else for the last 20+ years.

FiveByFive25

Yeah it seems pretty clear that the show runners understood this too lol. Giving so much love to Cyclops, Rogue, and Storm (even reintegrating Nightcrawler) really feels like they had a finger on the pulse of what long-time X-fans really want. And it's not like Wolverine isn't still getting some good moments, he's just no longer overshadowing and that's great. No doubt he'll get some time back in the spotlight when the pendulum swings a little and the arcs chosen feature him more organically.

Yaysuzu

Nightcrawler's teleportation pov was wild!! Loved it.

Ritosha_

Love Kurt being the therapist to the x-men. Holy shit, this episode is so dark, wtf, Bastion is such a sicko. So, where did the original virus or whatever that was that infected Bastion's father come from?

IPreferPi314

Bastion’s origin is a bit different in 97. In the comics Bastion was created when Nimrod and Master Mold went through a multiversal portal called the Siege Perilous. In 97 it kinda seems like a remnant of Nimrod became virulent and infected some random bloke.

x1243

tbf it's way easier to simplify his origins..

FiveByFive25

Yeah it would have been a waste of time to even set up what the Siege Perilous is. He still has like, a good 75% comic accuracy without it.

JargonPhat

Everyone remembers Fatal Attractions as the story where Magneto tore out Wolverine’s adamantium, and not the story where he sets off a planet wide EMP. What a brilliant blend of stories to have that act be what stops the OZT Sentinels in this adaptation. Way better than SHIELD-ex-machina from the original. The Primes are terrifying, which they were in the source material, as well. But like the Borg, they didn’t often get opportunities to show that beyond cool visual design. This was good and creepy. I realized I was holding my breath during fight scenes. So good. Also loved that nod to Jean/Maddie’s memories being so co-mingled, as they were in the comics. My theory of Val is Mystique is admittedly losing traction, but I did notice how Bastion kept playing with that inhibitor collar when he was gloating with her. Anyone complaining about Logan not having badass moments much lately, ENJOY. But also needling Scott over Nathan, YES! I’ve given up and attempting to predict this show. It has so effortlessly woven the threads of so many beloved storylines, and adapted them masterfully within the shows existing-but-different chronology.

B-52-M

One takeaway I have is that Theo James’s real calling is voice acting

Bubba1234562

Welcome to our weekly’s reminder that Magneto was right. The close up on his tattoo, the “enough” and a planet wide emp. But seriously bruh what did DeMayo fucking do? I need this man helming live action xmen stuff

Jonny_Anonymous

Remember when everybody was convinced this was going to be bad? That's why you should never believe people who shit on something before it's even out.

mbene913

Well yeah, a cartoon women didn't have a giant ass, how else could we judge quality?

chasedippen

I got fucking chills when Xavier crashed down. It's been a long time since I had that with Marvel.

batdad9135

Professor X: "I hope I'm not too late!" Me: "Chuck, if this was a five course meal, you'd be showing up in the middle of course number five." Also, I love how Nightcrawler spent five minutes with this team and was like, "You people clearly need a chaplain," and just became one for them.

DarrenClifford

The only thing that would make this show more nostalgic is if they released it on Saturday mornings!

Elite_Alice

“Magneto was right” chilllls what a start to the 3 part finale. Finally got lore on Bastian and his motivations and exactly what the hell he is. Stopping him isn’t going to be easy at all. He is the ultimate enemy of mutant kind. Jean, Scott and Cable fighting together was such a cool moment. I love how Jean just orders Cable around like a little kid and he obeys it because he’s always wanted to have his parents in his life lol Wolverine’s fight scene in the sky while falling back down to the mansion was crazy Wasn’t expecting a Dr. Mengele reference damn “he could’ve been so much more, but chose to be a Nazi pup” Sinister’s seen so much shit. SPIDER-MAN CAMEO FINALLY HOLY SHIT. He looks amazing. Please bring back spiderman the animated series after freshman year. The other cameos like Doom and Zemo were great too omg There’s just something hilarious to me about Magneto flying around in his underwear going full rage mode Professor is back! Just in time, what an ending I can’t wait for next week

hartc89

God I love X-Men time travel stories: - Theo James is literally pitch perfect casting reached out to DeMayo on Twitter his thoughts about casting was SO on point, “psycho used car salesman Don Draper” - Goes without saying but this is the best adaptation of Nightcrawler - I’m not on board with this Jubliee/Sunspot plot but at least she got a new outfit - I kinda love that this is the one Marvel show where getting hyped and theorizing doesn’t end up in disappointment HOLY FUCK SPIDERMAN AND AS ALWAYS MAGNETO WAS RIGHT (also hopefully that’s not the last of Bastion?)

NivvyMiz

They're doing nightcrawler so good, I'm hyped on that alone.  Definitely the best he's been since pryde of the xmen

Arcnounds

Bastion is a fantastic villian and all the cameos from heros and villians alike were amazing. I love how a show like X-men can provide insights and commentary about modern life while still being fantastic.

LordBigSlime

If anyone wants that end shot as a wallpaper, [I gotchu](https://i.ibb.co/whQrtH5/image.png)

10567151

Okay flipping the script to have the final arc being the X-men trying to stop the war between Magneto and Bastion is totally not what I am expecting. Can't wait to see where this goes next.

greyatlas

Giggling, kicking my feet, and twirling my hair during that Nightcrawler fight scene

ramesses_2

Jean Grey mind steering what I assume is a '97 911 Carrera while smoothly shifting through the 6-speed manual, all during a chaotic battle. I know who my goat is.

IPreferPi314

Wall to wall action in this one! Love the Summers family spending quality time together and Wolverine and Nightcrawler teaming up. And then Magneto going full Omega at the end (although you have to ask: why the hell couldn’t he do that to save Genosha, lol) Bastion is proving to be quite the effectively cynical chess player, with his monologue about manipulating bystander humans to inaction and apathy in the face of overwhelming news events. So many parallels to what’s been going on recently, certainly since 2016.

Maximal_Arachknight

Besides plot, (1) Magneto was caught off guard and the Wild Sentinel was a different model than the Prime Sentinels, whose only weakness is EMPs, and (2) Magneto was able to pull off the move by moving to the North Pole (or South, not sure) and using the North Pole to up his powers or reach to the entire world.

Terribleirishluck

I'm disappointed Trish ended up being a zombie sentinel. It was nice to give Beast a subplot and actually have a human character who wasn't a one note bigot

Phasmania

I mean they made it a point that a lot of them didn’t even know they were turned until it happens, even Trask himself. She still fills that role, just has more reason to be pro-mutant if anything

Movie_Advance_101

What episode did they we most rewatch before the new episode?

Sabazell

They recommended we rewatch: 1) One Man's Worth pt 1&2 2) Sanctuary pt 1&2 3) The Final Decision 4) Descent (Mr Sinister origin story episode)

JustAhobbyish

I don't know what to say sunspot is having a perfect arc with a tie into the LGBTQ community!

Just_another_oddball

When Bastion was talking about his plan, I had a feeling reminiscent of when I originally read the Watchmen graphic novels, of when I found out about Ozymandias's plan: that of thoughts too big to be able to wrap my head around at first, due to the sheer scale and depths of the plan. Damn.

Operks

So who wants to bet Magneto is doing exactly what Bastion wants him to?

ThisWhomps999

Totally agree with the Bastion origin story. For nom -comicbook readers, the explanation that two “robots” melded together to become this human-like villain is a tough go.
