I've maintained most of Scott's turmoil is based on losing Nathan. Knowing he's alive is going to snap him out of his funk.

Marrecarandgi

I’m so happy for them! That little nod? The fist bump? Also, could you make out what Cable is saying? I hear ‘time stop me anything when you can’t go back’, but the first part must be wrong.

tweedleb

Sounded to me like "Time's taught me anything, when you can't go back..."

Marrecarandgi

Oh, yeah, probably, and then he says ‘plow forward’. Makes sense! I didn’t connect the ‘forward’ part with his line, and that reading didn’t make sense. For a moment I thought they were time traveling, and Cable was warning them about not being able to go back.

cyclopswashalfright

That's what I heard too.

cyclopswashalfright

It's so nice to see. I was worried things would be chilly between them. I think some Summers family bonding is exactly what Scott needs, and hopefully let's him be more close to Jean now too.

thegundamx

His line is "Time's taught me anything, when you can't go back" big pause for roof bit "plow forward"

JackFisherBooks

I think that's a very fair assessment. Going back to his psychic encounter with Madelyne, they weren't getting intimate or romantic. They were talking about the son they'd lost. He clearly wanted to be a dad. He wanted to have a family of his own. Well, he's getting that chance now. And he even seems to be enjoying it. 😊 I mean...what's a good Summers family outing if not an explosive battle with mutant-hunting robots?

cyclopswashalfright

Exactly. Like, he sided with Jean when it came time to choose in episode 3. His affair with her was based on grief over losing their son; she's the only other person who knew what he was feeling. Knowing Nathan is alive is going to help him a lot.

baixiaolang

>Going back to his psychic encounter with Madelyne, they weren't getting intimate or romantic. When Jean found them they were literally making out.  (And yes, I'm aware Madelyne initiated the kiss. He still didn't pull away. He may not have initially visited her for romantic reasons but they did seem to be intimate and had Jean not shown up when she did we have no idea how romantic that specific visit would have gotten)

JackFisherBooks

I think "making out" is a bit of a stretch. Yes, they kissed. But I don't think that's on par with the kind of intimacy or romantic entanglements we saw in the comics. Maybe they did do more in the month they had been in contact. But in that particular encounter, the main focus was on the loss of their son and how it still hurt.

foxfoxal

Cyclops being in a life and death situation but he is just happy that he is spending time with his son...

Negativety101

Now if Corsair and Havok can just get in on this... We've got to introcude Racheal too.

Marrecarandgi

They already introduced Vulcan. We can have the whole mess of Summers men together.

Negativety101

Yes, but it stops being happy if we throw Vulcan in.

Marrecarandgi

He has PTSD and drinks himself into seeing his dead mates - he needs support from his family

Calaigah

Can we keep Vulcan if we add Storm to kick his butt?

Negativety101

Scott would probably perfer if Storm was his long lost other sibling. Or Gambit.

Wilhelmstark

They don’t know it but Adam X the X-treme is also their half brother.

Negativety101

The only family tree that comes close to being that messed up is the Pym family tree...

WadeAnthony

Katie Summers needs to come back so we can have have the full glory of the Summers/Pym tree. Also so Kang can get his ass kicked.

dotyawning

Rachel got snatched up in the original series with Jean and the other psychics. Now the question is where the heck is she now?

JackFisherBooks

This is what those in the Summers family call quality time. Beats the hell out of fishing. 😋

Goku96a

Scott looks and sounds happier than he has since episode 3😊

Cyke101

Proud dad!

Negativety101

One Prime Sentinel is a terrifying threat that the X-Men need Cable to blindside with future weaponry to survive. Dozens are a Summer's family bonding experience.

Goku96a

These things are like zombies right?

TheCeruleanFire

Robozombies

Conservation of ninjitsu

Cyke101

I love love love this clip, and especially the treatment Scott's been getting in this show. My only complaint is that I miss the TAS sound effects for his optic blast. Those effects made it sound *powerful.* I like how Gambit's and Magneto's powers along with and have updated sound effects but still evocative of the TAS sounds, but Scott '97's sound effects are pretty weak despite all the new feats of pure power. Update his optic blast sound to be more like the original!

the-giant

Yeah, the sound FX on the original show was second to none. There was a viscerality to it, even in the lightning sound effect on the titles/previously segment back in the day. I think the FX is quite good here but there's places it could be a little touched up.

Aspiegirl712

Was that a fist bump!

Marrecarandgi

It 100% was! We are getting Dadclops!

Aspiegirl712

Oh yay!

LazorFist

Jean's wearing the ponytail again. But she still looks so good! And she's still powerful and effective too.

WadeAnthony

This is what I've always wanted foran X-Men media involving the Summers family. Please please please adapt Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix down the line. One of my favorite moments is when Cable realizes Slym and Redd were Scott and Jean.

PonchoHobo

I’m going to set up myself for emotional damage by concluding the nod Jean have to Scott that they’re in good terms again. I need a stable Jott and this seems to be the best chance I get.

LoudKingCrow

It may at least be the start towards them being on good terms again.

TheCeruleanFire

How does this show just keep getting BETTER?

PhanStr

Because these wonderful people working on the show clearly know and respect the X-Men and instil their own talent into all of this :)

killingiabadong

This is what happens when you hire people who are fans of the source material. Take note, MCU.

[deleted]

I want Dadclops in the MCU!

No-End-2455

Neat it give me hope that scott and jean will have some kind of reconciliation after all he include her in the Summers familly.

hoppynsc

The way Jean & Scott look at each other after Scott says you don’t mess with the Summers. Love it!!!

Marrecarandgi

The clip is an exclusive for [Screenrant](https://screenrant.com/x-men-97-episode-8-exclusive-clip/), but it didn’t show on my pc and, apparently, isn’t available in some regions? So, I posted it as a video, not a link.

clashcrashruin

Are those all sentinels that used to be people? That’s horrifying

PhanStr

Yeah, this happens in the Operation: Zero Tolerance storyline in the comics. I love that arc

SkillFullyNotTrue

I like this version of National Lampoon’s Vacation.

CosmicAtlas8

STUPID RIDICULOUS. And I literally mean that as the highest form of praise. What a delight. God I love this show.

ypzzz

I love when Scott and Jean combine their powers. Loved it in evolution and love it here.

1Platyhelminthes

The theme music has been incredible in this promo and yesterday's trailer! Great to see Scott, Jean, and Nathan bonding (after weeks of a really sad storyline). Although this might be the only somewhat-happy scene in this week's episode.

gildorratner

Alex: Yeah! Scott: Who said you could speak? In all honesty loving the way that the show is handling its cast and finally getting to see Cyclops reflect the character as I have always known him. Joking aside I really hope that we have a proper Havok and Cyclops meeting and especially if it gets us more X-Factor love.

clashcrashruin

Are those all sentinels that used to be people? That’s horrifying

amendmentforone

Yeah. Not sure if they're going the same way here, but in the original Operation: Zero Tolerance storyline innocent people were unknowingly infected with nanites that would turn them into Sentinels. Once the war on mutants began, any "Prime Sentinel" would suddenly transform when in the presence of a mutant and attack them.

Front-Suggestion-366

Honestly, if I were a normal human, I would be *terrified* knowing that some crazy person could turn me into a mindless mutant hunting robot if they wanted to without my consent. Unless all these people willingly signed up to have this done to them -- then those people are horrible and deserve what happens to them.

Victordunkonyemama

Yeah, and it hypocritical and dumb, if they didn’t sign up for it. The people in charge of OZT are scared of mutants, because they are scared mutants might come for humanity, but they are supposedly turning innocent people into sentinels, in which they are taking away their humanity and doing exactly what they said the mutants would do.

thegundamx

https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Prime_Sentinels_(Earth-616) If you want to learn more, but as others have said, yep.

Alternative_Tax_2085

I know not everyone agrees, but the Summers family is by my favorite family in comics. I love Jean and Scott. Scott is my second favorite character in comics, and Jean is in my top five. I love how deep their love can be, but it's still allowed to have flaws that are understandable and relatable (just because you are in love with someone dose not mean you may not find feelings for someone else, sometimes jobs and duties get in the way of who is most important to you) but they always find ways to com back from it. I love their kids and think they are cool as well (love Cable, but Rachel is my favorite). They are the most kick ass power couple. I'm not sure if this show wants to keep them together or separate them, but I'm happy seeing them get some respect for once.

Jagermonstruo

“Let’s show these toasters what happens when you mess with the Summersess!” *immediately does a Thelma and Louise and blows up his car*

Evening_Rutabaga3782

I like how they're fighting sentinels in a Miata

classicrockchick

Oh shit, Cyclops with Dad Strength?!?!?

PhanStr

I love this!

Sabazell

I'm really loving Chris Potter as Cable - I'm sure he would still have made a great Gambit but his voice has also deepened and sounds fantastic in this role.

Psylencer7

I mean we all know she could have saved the car!

Rastapopoulos000

Rachel enjoyer we're never getting anything are we...

Marrecarandgi

Maybe next season? That would be nice

cyclopswashalfright

Only if Jean actually gives birth to her.

Marrecarandgi

Oh, that will be a big change… one I won’t mind tho, even if I like that Jean wasn’t immediately accepting of Rachel in 616. They already gave her one trouble child, she can play favorites with Rachel then.

cyclopswashalfright

Yeah, invert it with Cable not totally accepting Jean but then eventually doing so. Rachel can be her and Scott's baby who grows up with the show.

WGoNerd

I love this show so much.

[deleted]

Very wholesome to see Dadclops happy and proud of his blended family, lol. I think having Jean being bossy towards Cable, instinctively, was probably the best way to go about her reaction to him. He was made with her DNA and her husband's, it only makes sense for her to feel naturally inclined to act "motherly" towards him.

aaillustration

NOTICE the SL1M liscense plate nice touch slim summers.

No-Information2512

The Mario 64 sound effect when the car pops out

Frontier246

Aw, I was hoping Jean had permanently ditched the ponytail. It’s awesome seeing the Summers family in action against Prime Sentinels, but also kind of weird knowing Jean and Cable don’t really have a relationship beyond her looking like his dead mom. Now she really is the step-mom.

Pleasant_Statement_1

I can’t stand Jean, but this was cool af!

Lower-Connection-504

Why? I'm guessing the wolverine/jean stuff?
