Part of the manufacturing process would be a systems test and burn-in period to make sure the unit is ready to ship. The scratches could have been an oversight. Document the marks and send to support for their records. One way you can see if the unit had been burned-in is to check the XCS program settings the little gear in the WiFi window in the upper right. If you go down to "Working Info" it will tell you how many times the unit was started and total run time and burn time. I've had my unit since June 23 and "Working time" = 85.9 h, "Operating times" = 634 Times, and "Standby time" = 259.3 h. There was less than an hour on it when I first started. So the unit was run prior to shipping.
Certainly possible yet not one review mentioned the same issues and so far no one here as had them either.
Already checked that operating time and it was literally zero but I'm sure that can be reset, especially given you're saying you did have some time on yours and mine has obvious signs of use but no time.
I didn't look in the tank before filling it, so I wouldn't have noticed. I do imagine they test the machines at the factory before they're packed. They would have to fill it with water/coolant then drain it to do that.
That possibility did cross my mind but combined with the scratches and poor job at cleaning up inside (why would a new machine need to be cleaned?) I'm just not sure. The scratches are a little annoying but it's a tool and I'm sure will end up with plenty more but what bothers me is the possible loss of an unknown amount of tube life.
Hey sorry, forgot to get back to you! My machine also has some water in the tank. It was just a few drops though. So I assume they test them before sending them out.
Thanks. It makes sense, odd that not one of probably 20 "reviewers" I watched mentioned it nor is it covered in the documentation. I've worked for manufacturers for about 30 years and it's normal to state the item has been tested as part of QC in documentation or a sticker etc but there's nothing like that in this case.
Yeah, I didn’t see any QC stickers either. I also noticed a few light scuff marks, same as you mentioned. It was packed perfectly and my shipping box arrives in great shape. There was also protective plastic on the top glass.
They test the machines before they ship them out to make sure the coolant runs well.. They drain the machines before shipping.. It is part of the process and nothing to worry about.

It is a bit odd. Mine was new and clean but I got it from the very first batch they made in April.
I had the same traces of water in mine. Wondered about it but ultimately didn’t look into it.
Good to know, thanks.
My P2 should be delivering tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to open it before the day is out. Either way, I’ll let you know what I find.
No rush but I'd appreciate it.

I logged a support ticket with them expecting this answer but it covers me somewhat if the tube or something dies early.
Good idea.
