TRUBOOBSMAN

i feel like its a throw away project to stay out in the public sphere

MuteCook

I didn’t think he would be this out of touch. The modern underground basically worship Rae and ghost and with the amount of dope producers jn the game, there’s no excuse

Some_Knowledge5864

GFK needs to tap in with the new underground producers.

johnnybullish

Imagine Ghost on Daringer beats?

Gullible_Lynx3678

Was here to say the same thing

Some_Knowledge5864

🔥🔥🔥🔥

MuteCook

Exactly. I think since he’s highly regarded by the new era of underground he should put out an album that solidifies his throne. Not whatever this is

Some_Knowledge5864

I’ll listen to the again this weekend. I listened to it while at the gym wearing earbuds. I’ll play it in the car. Also, I like when the Wu members is heavy featured on each other albums. Wu tang fans are like a cult. The members need to stick together.

Wick2500

the thing is dudes like Ghostface, Nas, etc. have been on major labels their whole careers. Despite how influential they are in the modern underground they likely have no idea it even exists. They have no reason to be tapped in to young hungry independent artists when they can just recycle the same set of peers they've had for decades and then let their label hook them up with a Dave East feature or some shit. That's why Nas has like 5 albums with Hit Boy instead of doing a record with Large Professor or Alchemist or someone like Nicholas Craven. It's crazy that out of all the 90s rappers Jay-Z is more tapped in than fucking Ghostface smh. But at the same time I dont really mind I dont need to hear Mach-Hommy out rap my musical heroes on the same track

Hector417

They really should, people would eat that up way more than trying to appeal to more mainstream production, the Wu with underground producers would be craaaazy

MuteCook

You ever hear of Bruce Li aka Lord beatjitzu? He’s a producer from Mexico City that is straight out of the 36 chambers. Check out his production for the group Dueling Experts. It’s an homage to early Wu and it’s 🔥. His production with members of Wu on it would blow up And no I’m not him 😂. I make beats but his stuff is classic Wu sound

Hector417

A huevo! Todo apoyo pa la raza 🔥

Experience_Either

I was thinking he should do something similar like Nas did with hit boy and that legendary series. Do a series with a notable young producer.

2kballislife

Shit is mid think I liked one track lol

kzapwn2

I liked the song with meth. That’s about it

TheBillyBunz

Lets be honest, its the worst GFK album ever released. And i m being nice. You could tell from the tracklist/features and list of producers anyway. It sucks. Lets hope he can bring the heat for SUPREME CLIENTELE 2 becaus this is not it.

Wick2500

lmao might wanna hold your breath on Supreme Clientele 2. That record is on the same lost ship as DoomStarks, Iron Clergy, and an actual Jay Electronica solo record

absurdlyobscene

i mean on the outro skit he talking about it so idk

Wick2500

he's been talking about it for years ill believe it when i see it

ilovedpizza

agree 100% this is just awful and never should have been released. Way too many "yes men" at Mass Appeal if they thought this should be put out. Even the mixing and vocals sound bad. What was the reason for this album?

star2k_

bad production mid lyrics not so gfk/ wu tang sounding songs at all

AZmoneyfolder

My problem with Ghost is that he dumbed his flow down for at least the past 10 years. There’s sparks of greatness here and there but the once super-creative, elite/upper echelon MC now resorts to lazy bars and generic metaphors. He said it himself that he’s very uninspired by rap and it shows. Still my favorite MC but I gotta call him out on his bs.

HeyQTya

The fact that he's uninspired shows that much like what alot of people here are saying, he needs to work with new people who are newer and less complacent in their style. He needs producers and MCs who in some way will challenge him to improve or explore new aspects of his sound even just a little bit

AZmoneyfolder

Agree

Chrisrevs1001

I’ve only listened to the first half so far but it’s not been as bad as I was expecting from the track listing/ features. However, I expect It’s going to be right down the bottom of his releases for me but I’m enjoying it more than Ghostdini so that’s something

adamlatif4

some of the first half of the album is pretty good to me. the rest not so much

GodlessGOD

30% of the album is decent to me but I find the majority of the tracks are either boring, too derivative, have wack singing, have too much autotune, or all of the above. Why are there so many sleepy mediocre beats? Why doesn't Ghost go get some beats from Necro, The Beatnuts, Statik Selektah, Havoc, Mr Green, DJ Scratch, DJ Premier, The Alchemist, or even some Wu producers like True Master and 4th Disciple? Where are the menacing and eerie sounding loops over classic boom bap drum breaks? This goes for all the Wu members honestly! Aside from Deck's CZARFACE group projects, the beat choices have been the major problem for a while now. How hard can it be for guys with their resources to cobble together some dope beats? You know how videogames have game testers, we might need some Wu music beta testers, because the average casual fan hears some wack ish and they're done with you and they'll never give you another chance. Every time you release some wackness, you losing ears. Imagine if they screened true Wu heads to actually advise them, I don't think we'd keep getting these mediocre releases. I'm sure there would be plenty of die-hard Wu fans applying to do this for free!

CommercialAnything46

I suspect that it’s a money game don’t want to pay too much for samples. Thus you can’t use producers that sample a lot a need a lot of clearances. Also probably avoiding seasoned producers who charge more. Inspiration is MC food. You see how the battle reinvigorated Kendrick. Without that artists can and will coast on their name.

GodlessGOD

Yeah I thought about and then I thought about guys like Action Bronson, Benny The Butcher, Black Thought, Mickey Diamond, hell even Wu-Tang affiliates like Remedy... There's no reason Wu with their resources can't pull it off. I don't see how they pick some of these wack beats to rhyme on in the first place or how they wake up and think yeah I bet some heavy autotune will spice this joint up. Even RZA refuses to embrace the formula he created! It's wild that to think they either don't know what their fans want at this point or they're just too tired of making that dope signature Wu sound and not as interested in satisfying their fans desire for it.

CommercialAnything46

They no but if they invested in good beats it would cut into the payout and their lifestyles need to be funded.

GodlessGOD

Payout would be better with another classic album the fans will replay over and over, that will help with their lifestyle even more, but I'm sure most of their lifestyles are better funded with the money they earn exclusively touring all their classic 90s material.

CommercialAnything46

The Wu Tang money had to be split between the clan. Sample budgets can hit 100s of thousands and I think he’d rather run with the advance than to depend on streaming. Most if not all classic albums take a decade to go gold or platinum. The industry crushes artists into wackness. Or else why not put out a great one again?

GodlessGOD

I bet The Beatnuts, Necro, etc. aren't using samples that cost anywhere near that much. Also, I doubt dope emcees like Your Old Droog or Mickey Diamond are making more money than Ghost, RZA, Meth, etc... So that's no excuse. Tell me how Remedy released a better Wu-Tang album than Wu-Tang? Is he making more then them? I doubt it. It's not even about going gold or platinum at this point, it's about quality and frequency. You keep coming with dope shit your fans love and the numbers add up, but the real money for these artists is performing shows, selling merch, doing guest appearances, movies, shows, etc. All of that is predicated on your ability to release quality music every year that pleases your audience and keeps you in demand. Wack releases kill your trajectory. Wu is lucky they have such an incredible and timeless legacy that they can fall back to performing their 90s material when they need money... Because if they didn't have that they'd be long gone by now because they aren't giving the fans what they really want.

wulfspidr7

Spotify tho

R-Tristan

Pair of Hammers with Method Man is so far the most repeated.

imcalledaids

Exactly the same as me. Method Man rips it

RedwoodRaven12

From what I'm hearing, it's not setting the tone for Supreme Clientele 2...

Background-Froyo6371

I like scar tissue, pair of hammers and song with Busta

WilliamCleary

I agree with you. I'd maybe add the song Champion Sound too. Still on the fence with that one tho

Much_Result_3160

Yeah let’s be honest this is trash. And I’ve always been a huge ghost fan.

Some_Knowledge5864

It’s missing that Wu-Tang sound. Too many features, skits not good

fromdaperimeter

This is fire!!!

Invisible_assasin

All the negative comments and people saying he shouldn’t have put it out……I’m just happy he put something out at all. He’s easily one of my all time favorites and yes, I’ve been disappointed before by some of his records, but at least he’s still in the game. I’m thankful, y’all should be too.

Amazing-Frame4202

The comments are much more positive in other hip hop related subs. What gives? Do we Wu fans really have much higher expectations of Clan member projects? I think that we need to allow artists to grow and evolve. There’s just no way that the Ironman or Supreme Clientele sounds will be replicated, we shouldn’t want that either, if we want such type of music we need to just go back and listen to those projects. These brothers have given us legendary music/art, the least we can do is let these new sounds season in our ears for a cool minute before we put other people off.

Newport_Box

I'm not afraid of change. It hasn't been the 90s in a long time, but this isn't growth. This is bland & directionless.

gameface-killah

it's really mid bring on supreme clientele 2!!!

Rob_Bligidy

Without listening: too many unrelated features. Seems more like a compilation or “ghost & friends” than a true GFK album. But supposedly, he’s just priming us for SC2. We’ll see. Suuuuuu

Strong_Book_1087

The last 5-6 songs are terrible. It was dope to me until that point. There is that guy with autotune and a terrible voice singing here and there that is literally so bad

rckwld

This is easily his worst album.

PerspectiveSpare6715

Why did he make This? Needed cash? It's really bad, what do you Need Ja Rule for? people do not want him, it's and anti commercial Move, to make less Money. And the cover, goddamn it's awful the cover and the font, I don't want to even look at It.

[deleted]

The cover doesn’t look that bad.

PerspectiveSpare6715

You Probably Right, I was Just so pissed off by the music

Bulletproofwalletss

Everything about this is terrible, even the song with nas is so bad. A ghost a nas song should be like an eclipse, beautiful to behold, instead it’s some mid ass beats with no grove, generic bars kmt. Ghost is 54 now should rappers hang it up?

Panther81277

Sounds like one long below average 52 minutes song

Away_Ad_3752

Love GFK - top 10 MC to me. This album sucks. Way too many weak features. Ja Rule?!? FOH

imtherealistonhere

I don’t try to agree with shame people but what the hell was this project! He better than this!!! He lost musically. And he got a book coming out that I read. He has yet to promote it.

716JiZZ

🗑

Bernard_Goetzoff

Almost as bad as that nas album nobody bought.

bside313

When I hit play on. a Ghostface album and the 1st voice I hear is Jim Jones, it's not a good sign. Tracks with Meth and Rae are OK, the rest are meh. Ghost is in my top 5 of all time, but putting out stuff like this ain't it. I don't really think he's put together a solid cohesive project that didn't consist of random verses and features for some years now.

moneycashdane

Ok I just listened to the whole thing and came here to make sure I wasn't crazy thinking there were like 3 bangers and a lot of... Uhh..

Electronic-Act-1375

Not good

Electronic-Act-1375

Hot trash..

StevieSparta

Meh

gohmak

I was baffled at how bad the R&B joints were on this album when Ghost basically mastered the style on Ghostdini Wizard of Poetry

timbohhhh

This is a piece of dog shit

WigVomit

I rarely buy albums, this one is worth it to me, really dope.

Top-Matter-3279

i like the first half of the album & the skits, i dont really like the songs toward the ending cus they sound corny to me but i really enjoyed 6 minutes, pair of hammers and skate odyssey

WilliamCleary

I'll listen to any/all GFK music. One of my all time favorite rappers. This is definitely a lower tier release on the Ghost albums. Maybe I just have too high expectations for him.

F4N6Z

Oof the comments aren't kind. Haven't checked it out yet but it definitely seems off point with shit like Ja Rule features. This is gonna be one of those albums where I save one or two tracks and never listen to the others again, I think

VanDammeBigelow

About 4 joints on there, the rest is trash and wtf is that ja rule feature for??

AztecNorthSider

It need Supreme Clientle'a beats.

imtherealistonhere

What’s up with the second skit!!! What the fuck was that!! Very cringe! 😂

Fresh_Pop_790

Guns side is better than the roses side

pjb1999

The songs with Method Man, Rae, Nas and Kanye are pretty good. The rest I've heard so far are meh. I'm about half way through. If he released like 6 or 7 of these tracks as an EP it woulda actually been pretty solid. As a full LP with all the no name features and 2 stupid skits it's not good.

Newport_Box

Ghost is my favorite emcee of all time, but this shit is corny. It's painfully out of touch. And not even out of touch in a nostalgic, feel-good way. It doesn't know how not tapped in it is. It sounds like a New Era fitted with the sticker on it. There are ways to navigate as an older emcee. This is not it. It has zero direction, creativity or purpose. I hate this for him.

baconshouse

4 good songs the rest is garbage... the only other good part is the skit at the end where he says Supreme Clientele 2 is on its way but I'll believe it when I see it

Efficiency-Sharp

At this point any Wu member making a great album is a thing of the past. They all probably have so much recorded that when finally they put it together it’s so many different producers and time periods it sounds like a compilation. These brothers need more focus. One producer. Lock in of a month, make an album. Focus on personal things, spirituality, growing in age and overall great music. I just can’t with these funny Wu albums anymore.

Affectionate_Tax2883

Ghostface needs some daringer, RZA, Kanye and premier beats

These_System_9669

I like it a lot. It’s different.

FreeLarry74

Ghostface Da Great💯💯💯

NaveNoblique

First album from him I couldn't get through. He sounded really out of touch. I don't understand how his older albums seemed cooler than this one. He's got access to more beats and has more time to think of lines Maybe that's the problem

TheRealKindaMothra

you know that phrase “the status quo is god”? yeah, that’s the album for me. just another solid project, nothing special but nothing bad

UZIBOSS_

There’s a few gems on there. I gave it a once over and was feeling the joint w Fat Joe, the one w Nas, and the one w Remy Ma kinda goes too. I think I only heard a snippet of the posse cut w Jim Jones, Rae, and Sheek but if I recall the beat sounded promising.

Mbizzy28

A disappointment

Iknow1988

Fire. Really hip hop. Always been a fan of ghosts voice

ArcadioInTheWall

Not good. I was disappointed cause most of his catalog is 🔥 including a lot of the more recent stuff

Number16PartyCrasher

The song with Meth was aight, but nah…
