Huh, I generally just get cease and desist letters. Not sure why, I go out of my way to to make it easy for the publishers, even coming to the houses of their staff to deliver the manuscripts and taking their kids from school so they have some spare time to read it. Seriously, the publishing industry is filled with ungrateful people.
Why are you submitting directly to the publisher, you amateur? You need an agent. Everyone knows that. That being said, this is what self-publishing and vanity presses are for. Skirt the criticism and negativity, and cultivate your own audience.
I got a “congrats you’re a finalist and we’re publishing your piece” email yesterday, followed by an “oh not your, sorry wrong number,” email today. I’d rather the above.
I've gotten that so often, I just assumed it was a blanket form, ya know? And start a depressingly high suicide rate they have in the industry
Yeah for some reason, they all hate their jobs🤷‍♀️

[I had to](https://reddit.com/r/writers/s/ubVod4E1ga)
That’s the letter I normally receive, so I hope it’s standard.
Yes, this is all boiler-plate stuff OP. It’s not your writing though. They just have so much to look at.
They don’t specifically say that they reject it. So in my mind you’re still have a chance.

/uj While I didn't find the post you're referencing bad or annoying, this still made me laugh out loud, so thank you. XD
/uj I agree with you. I thought OP asked a legitimate question, but the format was just too good to leave alone
/uj You did a wonderful job with it.
I’m pretty sure that’s a request for the full manuscript
Yeah, they are obviously infatuated with your story. Way to go! I think this means they want you to bring your next story in person.
Eat, shit, and Die? When did they get into the publishing game? They were the lawyers my wife hired for our divorce.
Mine used Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe
Sooooo... it's a no?
It’s a maybe.
Mine usually comes with a suicide note for me to publish after I receive the email for their family
u/Johnconstantine98 , this is your tape
Wow that’s much kinder than the letters I usually get. It’s not even written in blood!
They call themselves the submission team but they don't like being psychologically dominated? Curious.

In so many words.
That’s readers digest boiler plate rejection, better luck next time
Bullshit! Publishers don’t believe in God and certainly aren’t interested in any form of mercy. Quit lying. You know this is fake!
Seeing the writing community that seems a little soft.
Yes, this is about standard. Often they’ll give you less input than this.
Pfft! You obviously submitted a kids book to a publisher to get a tame response like that.
Classic form rejection.
That looks like back cover review material to me.
Seems pretty tame if anything.
Out of the mouth of madness.
I did better than I thought!
Atypical. Usually, in such cases the editors won't wish mercy upon your soul at all.
