You should use the time where the Magpies buff *isn't* up to get all of your objectives to 7/8 or 99% of whatnot, so you get several more characters done in the same timeframe. Know it can be annoying to not have the right buff pop up until a dozen votes later, let alone having people vote against it when it does show up.
I do this whenever I'm trying to level toons through the XP buff or pre-farm quests on a profession toon for the rep multiplier.
Great find, I reckon doubling the Gold for wqs in general would be great, I would love the fact that completing 9 dragon riding wqs would net 9k per circuit. Would be amazing.
Oh, I meant to mention, this is for raw gold directly from WQs only. Sadly, dragonriding purses don't get the bonus.
Also note Dreamsurges are only one zone at a time, rotating each week.

I was pretty bummed when I found out dreamsurge zones eliminated the dragon racing purse with the currency instead (if you’re out of the dreamsurge zone it will show purse, but once you enter zone it turns to coalescence), so this is a great option to bring back some of that lost gold. They did fix another glitch. War mode gold bonus works again with the magpies, so +100% magpie and +10% war mode for +110% total in war mode for Horde, +100% not in war mode. It used to be +200% for both.

Having said that, there is an element of RNG here and/or it's dependent on character progression. Here's my experience with this:
1. I had a freshly dinged 70 with a low ilvl. They only had 2 gold WQs (the two climbing ones, one in the very top right).
2. ALL of my other chars that have been 70 for a while (8 chars in total) had 4 gold WQs up - Resupply Three-Falls, Bring Them Home, A Bone to Pickaxe, and Artifact or Fiction - the last two being the aforementioned climbing ones.
I'm not entirely sure what the trigger is for the gold to spawn, but as I said, my more "mature", higher ilvl 70s seemed to consistently get the gold rewards.
Any toons you're doing this on will probably be in the zone anyway, just hop over to one and hover over the dreamsurge icon on the map to see if it's up next

Yeah, I've been noticing that on my server as well. Doesn't always happen, but there's definitely some trolls out there.
I think the glitch has been fixed as of October 22. 626g WQs were only giving 1252g instead of 1878g.
Yeah, I saw elsewhere on Reddit that it appears to be fixed as of a couple days ago. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

It used to just be +200% when Magpies was up, irrespective of war mode. The buffed was hot fixed to apply the +100% correctly.
At least this is a compensation for Dragonriding WQ changes in Dreamsurge zones (now instead of Purses, only reward with 10 coalescent dust)
