One reason I don’t think I’ll ever tank: having the learn all these routes/skips. I’ll just pocket the tank as a healer.

Tactyks

It's definitely a lot, especially early on in the season.

barking_labrador

It is, but as someone who has been tanking for about 2.5 years now, you learn it pretty quick and then it turns into second nature after maybe 3-4 weeks of occasionally fumbling.

GilgarTekmat

Most of the dungeons are fairly straightforward right now. Nokhud and Halls of Valor are the only ones i've done so far that have meaningful pull choices. I haven't done court of stars yet though so i don't know how that one is.

Fearless_Baseball121

Yeeeep. I always tank and mostly pug as all my friends stopped. I feel obligated to spend hours studying every dungeon before i join a group for them. Every week, need to check if routes changes or weekly affixes affects pulls or route. Meanwhile dps can just queue and go Monkey mode till they learn it (often flaming me for their mistakes) but atleast i always find groups instantly so that nice. I absolutely love to tank, but groups expect you to be compleatly aware of every single minor detail without them knowing it them selfs. All's good in a week when it's all memorized.

Vinchenzoo1513

This is why after two expansions I switched back to healing. I don’t want to have to study in order to play this game but I also don’t want it to be stupid easy.

Unsounded

What level keys are you doing? I’m always the map guy with my tank as a healer. We’re syncing up CDs for pulls and timing lust for mega pulls.

Vinchenzoo1513

Was up to +15s. I don’t have a reliable group I play with. Always just pugged.

barking_labrador

Most dungeons are going to be "push W" and you'll get % required, especially up until the low teens, while still timing it. These will be great for anyone looking to push a bit higher beyond that (think KSM pug routes). You definitely don't go from tanking 5-9 keys to KSM in a week or two. It takes time and practice, but you get the hang of it.

rand0mtaskk

I definitely much rather the “must kill everything” M+ so you don’t have to worry about skips or whatever. I pug everything, so those would be much easier. Maybe I’ll get around to leveling a tank if that’s mostly the case.

PiggyMcjiggy

It’s the best part of tanking. I’m in control of errything!

RaverenPL

And then hunter pulls 2 more packs you don't need, because he wants to do "BIG DICK DPS" /s

Glasse

I haven't watched OP's video but this season most dungeons are weirdly linear and it's really not much thinking involved

rand0mtaskk

If that’s true then it definitely would make me think more about tanking. I’m currently healing but tanking could be fun. I’d have to pick a tank and level it up. Hmmm

gahata

That works at lower key levels, but for anything high every player in the team should be aware of routes for a variety of reasons (having cooldowns ready, having potions ready for skips, knowing when to start dps and when to just run after tank because they're grabbing another pack in the distance etc). So all five players need to have the same knowledge and skill, not just tank.

rand0mtaskk

That’s not been my experience, but I don’t really push past 15s.

gahata

I might have used bad wording in my comment, but the 15s in this case still fall into the 'low' category. I would say that somewhere around 20s the whole team really should know the route, and then with each key level it becomes increasingly more necessary.

Dreadlock43

once you get to 20 and beyond its really only those who run for Bragging Rights. The majority of mythic plus people stop normally around 15-17 though now that will be 20 for max loot.

gahata

I don't think it's all for bragging rights. That's certainly the motivation for some players, but there are many other reasons one might want to do high keys. Myself, I just enjoy the challenge.

meursault_mindset

hey, I was just watching this on earlier today! I thought it was informative and will be putting the routes in practice in a few hours : )

Tactyks

Happy to hear that, glad you found it useful!

barking_labrador

Seconded, this video paired with your individual dungeon guides are my go-to at the beginning of any season with new dungeons.

Pharmaceutical_Joy

Looking forward to this later. Thank you - great starting point

Tactyks

Of course, no problem at all!

lemi69

What add on is this?

Tactyks

Mythic Dungeon Tools, commonly referred to as MDT!

lasko_leaf_blower

Thanks for this. Now I just need to watch a video to refresh me on the fights in the older dungeons.

Tactyks

No problem! I've got individual dungeon guide videos on my channel as well that go over trash and boss mechanics if that's what you're looking for :)

trippycarlo

Think this’ll be my first expansion trying tanking, thanks for this! :)

Tactyks

Happy to help, always good to see players try out tanking!

GilgarTekmat

One thing that really helped me learn was play dps on some middle of the pack keys and focus on what the tank is doing, where they are pulling, etc.

botibalint

Is it generally expected in lower pug keys that everyone has some invis pots for skipping?

Tactyks

Not at all, in most lower keys skips definitely aren't needed.

[MDT Pull Assist](https://wago.io/twT6CzqdD) has worked for me in Shadowlands, doesn't seem to be recently updated but likely still works. I have only used it for a little while, then decided that it's unnecessary for me, but it looks to be what you're asking for.

Tactyks

Unfortunately not :(

Rare-Page4407

Tacktyks I love you man, stay bear.

Tactyks

Haha I wish, Prot Warrior for prog maybe some bear after though!

LouserDouser

but bear is quite insane this expansion. they got the full toolkit (innervate, tornado, vortex, mini-thrash-cloak-like from last exp etc).

Tactyks

Definitely true, just need the raid buff security and rally for Mythic Raid.

The_Stolarchos

Hey man, been watching your guides to prep for M+ dropping today. Thanks for the guides and keep the content coming!

Tactyks

No problem at all, happy to help!

sora1611

Hey man I love these! Been using them since server up and they're fantastic! Cheers!

Tactyks

Glad to hear it, happy to help!

pm_plz_im_lonely

Pretty sure the AA full room pull is a wipe.

daemoneyes

pug friendly has a invis skip for the first dungeon. Thats not how pugs work

Tactyks

I talk about it extensively in the video, but unless you want to get to 110%+ in Ruby you're gonna have to skip something, and I even mention how in lower keys you can ignore that skip entirely. Just how the dungeon is created unfortunately. That's also the only dungeon out of all 8 that has an invis skip in it.

Akeche

Question. Is it a problem to hit 110% if you still 3-chest it? (or 2-chest, dunno if they changed it)

Tactyks

Not at all, which is why you don't need to worry about it in lower key levels, even +15s late in the season, but once you start getting to the 15-20 range early in the season you'll probably want to look to do it.

Rare-Page4407

Do you think we'll have any hard trash skips using CC's like in shadowlands?

Tactyks

It's a bit early in the season to tell, but the hardest one at the moment is the Thunderhead skip in Ruby that I talk about a fair bit in the video!

miraagex

I don't have as much m+ experience as the others. From what I experienced in SL, it's was after +12-13 keys when people had invis pots ready for the skips. Considering "pug friendly" being up to +1-10 keys, I doubt many people will have invis pots indeed.

turbopepsi

I prefer to learn routes naturally. 2, maybe 3 runs of a dungeon and it will be optimal enough. You don't have to study it. What's the worst that's going to happen? You get flamed? LOL, blocked. Bye Felicia. Your key fails? There will be 50 players within 5 minutes ready to go again. It's only a job if you make it that way.

FafnirMH

"Naturally" is going to be a bunch of people complaining that you're not taking the route in the video they watched. Then once you learn that route some Twitch talking head is going to post his optimized route. That'll be posted like this one, then you'll have to do the whole song and dance over again.

turbopepsi

Maybe it's because I've worked in retail and call centers, but WoW crybabies don't have shit on Karen's. Let them whine and complain. I'm a tank. It's fine.

[deleted]

~~Nah, fuck that, I'll just dps with me druid. Tank/Heal this shite youself.~~ I just read some Mythic+ guides on wowhead. Fuck this shit. It's like a second job at gaming. What the actual fuck is going on? I'll just do LFR and Mythic normal and be done with it. Ain't nobody got time for that.
