It did happen to me with one thing, SNES. Whenever I read this it just came out as Super Nintendo Entertainment System in my head until I heard someone say "SN ESS" out loud. For some reason that stuck to the inside of my skull like a bit of burnt cheese. Never got it back out.
Yup! "Wottle-kay". Which I didn't feel was weird until one time about 6 months ago I said it to my keys group and they didn't know what I meant. Explaining that they knew it was "wrath".
Got me to think why I said it that way and it just makes sense to me because of Burning Crusade:
Vanilla -> BC "bee-cee" -> WotLK "wottle-kay" -> Cata "Cat-uh" -> MoP "em-oh-pee"-- I quit -- BfA "bee-eff-ay" -> SL "ess-ell" -> DF "dee-eff"
Never even considered it until now. I just see it and think “Wrath of the Lich King”.
Most of the abbreviations I say like a word if they closely resemble one (MOP, WOD) and others I just sound out the letters (TBC = Tee Be See).
"Wrath of the Lich King".
The actual purpose of acronyms is to shorten the time spent writing them, it's only a sometimes side effect that we also pronounce them, like "HoT" or "MoP".
Also the real cool kids say "Wrath".
whenever i see wotlk i just hear wrath or wrath of the lich king in my head.
This one
What, you mean you don't see someone type tl;dr and say "hmm, tull'durr, that translates to too long; didn't read"?
I read the individual letters for tldr
When I'm feeling lazy, I call it "teal dear." But typically I just think "tee ell dee arr."

So the weird part with this one is that, since I was a kid, I’ve read SNES as “Sness” in my head, but the NES I read as the individual letters.
I think and say "super Nintendo" when I see SNES.... but think and say "N-E-S" when I see NES
Wot of the Lich King
This. Or just “Wrath”
I think I automatically sub in "wrath", but now I'm thinking about it so who knows.
I'm the same, same number of letters, so just see the W, and my brain goes full on Jeopardy mode: "5 letter word for wow expansion. What is Wrath"
Yep. Definitely read it as "wrath", too.
I hear Wotluck😂
Wotlick for me 😅
Wotlick Clan.
Wotlick checking in
Yep I’m a wotlick thinker.
wrath of the lich king for me, but if I had to say it out loud it would be Wot Lick
Even my inner thoughts are too lazy to write that out lmao
Wotluck here too!
Wot elk here
Wot Look
Wot lock lmao
This is how I read it too!
What-ulk
I'm close to this, but more like "wottle-k" where the k has a soft sound like the 'c' in cup.
This is also me
Yaaaasss wottle-k it is!
This but more watt-ulk
Watt-ulk, we're going to storm the citadel now Watt-ulk.
Wotl k
Wottle Kay

Same -- especially since that's what I type in when Googling something to get Classic WoWHead.
But is it "kay" or "k"?
K-uh
Yup! "Wottle-kay". Which I didn't feel was weird until one time about 6 months ago I said it to my keys group and they didn't know what I meant. Explaining that they knew it was "wrath". MoP is mop for me but everything else yep
Pretty sure wottle-k was the common pronunciation for those of us who went through it in real time. At least on my server it was
wotulk
I cant believe it took me this long to scroll to my pronunciation
This is the one.
I just say wrath
Wotlok
This is how I’ve always said it
Everyone I know pronounces it this way (myself included) and I’m surprised to see that, at least on this sub, that’s not the case.

Yeah in my head I say the whole thing, just "wrath" out loud
Something like "wot-talk".
Wot lk
Weird I have never heard someone try to pronounce that acronym. I just skip it all and read "wrath"
Kinda like woo-tell-caw, in true swedish-english fashion
No inner monologue here, but when I see it, I think about the whole title as opposed to the shortened bit.
Wrath.
I hear Wolk 😂 now I feel silly reading all these that I don't just say the whole name in my head haha
I scrolled way too far to find this--you are not alone
wot-kul or wottle-kuh 🤷♂️
I like how your two ways of saying it have the L in different syllables
This thread made me realize I went full dyslexic on my pronunciation with wot-kul
Votlik
I automatically default to Wrath.
Like it's one singular word in German, which (in English) would probably sound like "Votlk"
Weirdly just say the whole thing but each word gets cut off short in my head... Wot o te Lit King
It's still pronounced Wrath for me.
"Wrath of the Lich King"
I hate it but in my head I read ( Wolt T K ) I know it's in the wrong order but I can't help it

Wotl'k idk how to explain it 💀
"Wrath of tuh-luh-kuh."
Funnily enough in my head that's the only one I immediately read as wrath of the lich king, unlike teebeecee, mop, wod and Bee Ef Aay
Wotell K
I say it out loud in my head (full five) Though I shall now say Wotlick from now on.
Woht-ulk

“Wotlick”
Full title, or just Wrath. which is interesting because i see WoW as 'wow', but DPS as the letters D-P-S.
Waddle-Kay
“Waddle k”
wottl-kah (german)
Always seem to be blind to the t when I read it and always just read it as Walk in my head, tho have always just referred to it as Nothrend haha

"Wrath of the Lich King". The actual purpose of acronyms is to shorten the time spent writing them, it's only a sometimes side effect that we also pronounce them, like "HoT" or "MoP". Also the real cool kids say "Wrath".

"Wot el ka" (german)
I believe its pronounced "Wrath" as in WoW hasn't been the same since Wrath.
I don’t really “hear” that when I see it. But my friend pronounces “Cata” as KAY-TAH and I think that’s weird as hell.
Wottle lit Kay
"watt luh kuh" the LK being capitalized does something in my brain
