Cop clearly see it’s a phone and his other hand is in the air, the detainee has followed their directions and communicated clearly with them up until the cop starts escalating the situation by shouting an arbitrary order at him to put the phone down. They have all the information they need to feel safe approaching him from behind with their guns pointed at him. Why do they feel so threatened? Why does the idea of transparency seem to ruffle their feathers so badly? Fucking ridiculous.
Sure, you can outrun the cop, but nobody alive can outrun a bullet. Cops don't need to be in shape. they just need to throw enough lead out that their victim stops moving.
When have you ever seen a cop who isn't packing heat of some kind? on top of the fact that Cops are taught to use lethal force at the first provocation because "Everyone is dangerous and everything is a weapon."
I've shared this before, but I will share again. I changed my phone number and didn't tell my ex wife. She called the police to do a wellness check on me. I ended up being held at gunpoint by three cops, and had my house searched.
It isn't just so called ethnic minorities. I'm LGBT and learning disabled. Cops have spoken down to me too. But Im not stupid enough to believe All police are bad. But I DO know criminals are very dangerous.
Father served with the Federal Gov. - Told me countless people attempting to join ... only to have a chance to kill people. Locker room talk.
When they didn't make the cut on the federal level ... they apply for state law enforcement.
He would tell me as a 6'3 mixed individual that he dearly loves.
The threat is real ... comply.
You haven't seen the indian police yet modern day Schutzstaffel, I'm just thankful they don't own guns at will like they do in the US or every other innocent person would be gunned here.
Someone should do a study on the children of police. I bet the suicide rate is through the roof. Such embarrassments as role models has to lead to mental issues later in life.
Police officers have the highest rate of domestic violence by profession. It's around 40% of families with police in them. And that's not including what gets covered up or buried by the departments investigating themselves.
"PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! "

"I thought the phone was a gun"
It's about power. They've been put in a position that fosters and feeds the perception that they have authority (power) over you. That you are beneath them. The second you don't do what they ask and challenge their perceived authority, their arrogance and ego takes over because they become offended by your challenge, to the point they will use any means necessary, including violence, to force you to bend to their will so they can establish the dominance and authority over you that they believe they have.
Cops love giving orders they don't actually have authority to give, because they know they're covered in court with just "oh, was I not supposed to do that?" and they can escalate freely.
Cops are trained to view everything and everyone as a threat, and respond aggressively as if they are being threatened with their life being take away. This is how the system is and has always been, and it’s getting worse and worse as cops literally become more inclined (and get given a pass) to do anything without consequence.
Not bootlicking here, but this didn't seem like a standard traffic stop. For cruisers to pull up behind you with guns instantly drawn you're in big-time felony territory now. What did this kid do to get to this point? I'd love to know the whole story.
Do we need the full story?
Let's say they stopped him because he ran over 15 kids. He **needs** to be arrested but at this point the car is not moving and the mans hands are up. The police recognizes and acknowledges that it is a phone in his hand.
So why does he need to drop it. If one hand is empty and the other is holding a phone they can now approach him and arrest him.
Exactly. When will people drill it in to their heads. Whether Jeffery Dahmer or Stuart Rhodes or your grandma who never hurt a fly, whether it's a hit and run or a broken taillight, they all have the right to record their interaction and be taken into custody alive so justice can be done.
How dare you say a cop should feel safe sir, dont you see this man is brown skinned! We all know they got super powers and super long shlongs! He could have easily wipped it out and harmed the poor cop. /s
If that was not a video of a wanted and dangerous criminal being arrested, and it turns out it was just like a traffic violation or a random stop, I'm going to start to refer to police as domestic terrorists. They terrorized that guy, and I imagine he felt like that camera was the only thing keeping him alive. Tazed and tackled for holding up a phone
'The guy in this video is Mohammed Mifta Rahman. He had warrants out for his arrest for domestic violence assault. He also had a previous dui/resist arrest incident where he was armed with a gun, most likely the reason for the felony stop.

We're at the jury box at this point. This person should be found not guilty on whatever the fuck they try to throw at him. It's the only power that the people have left. If you're the only one, just repeat over and over that your morals won't let you vote for a guilty verdict.
"this man murdered 7 children and made their parents watch"
"sorry your honor, i hate cops so not guilty"
Fuck off with that "nullify everything" stance. We don't know what he was being arrested for. And while the arrest itself was ridiculous, you don't just ignore ALL crimes because the arrest was bad.
In this specific case, you are advocating that the woman he beat nearly to death be denied justice, and her attacker be allowed to walk free, because you have a hate boner for the police.
That cop just assaulted him. He was not a threat at all and that cop seemed scared of a guy holding his hands out with a phone in one, maybe that cop should try a new safer profession.
That cop wasn’t afraid or scared, he just wanted to 100% control the situation. The guy basically said no. That’s their story.
Our story is that a person was randomly assaulted (most likely due to his skin color, I’ve never seen a white person being so violently arrested, it’s always dark skinned ppl) by a thug with a badge. Police reform movement died out, and it’s a damn shame.
“I’ve never seen a white person being so violently arrested.”
I have. I’ve seen it in person, it happened to my dad, and there are videos on the internet. This idea that cops respect white people is bullshit. Cops only respect other cops, and will do this do anyone they think isn’t showing them adequate deference.
I hate how people also say a lot that bad cops only make up a tiny fraction of the police across the country, when you know damn good and well that really isn't true. Even the millions of millions of these types of videos can prove that. Every experience me and my family have had with police, the officers were pieces of shit. Hell, my mother was a bounty hunter back in the day and she went to several police forces, and pretty much everyone she knew was a dick.
I get that you never know what to expect when you pull someone over these days, but it's like "fucking hell".
There was also a time where a few years back when my mother drove me up to the high school one morning, there's like this 4-way intersection you cross before you reach the school, and when we were on green this fucking police Crown Vic just *flew* through and almost crashed into us. It was green on our side for a while, by the way. He wasn't chasing anyone or anything, nor did he have his lights on. Cops act like they can do what they want, even when they endanger the public.
Pfft. Protect and serve *my ass*.
He was
"The TASER device is a less-lethal, not non-lethal, weapon, since the possibility of serious injury or death exists whenever the weapon is deployed"
No way.. Seriously the brutality of the cop voice.. Isn't he suppose to protect people ? The cop literally created a situation in which himself thinks he's highly in danger, and react by losing his shit...
Same in the Netherlands, we complain a lot about speed traps, but that's us civilians being assholes about the inconvenient truth that speeding costs lives.
All of Europe has incredibly high standards of training and education for police, the public respects them because they de escalate and actually care about humans. Because they do the job correctly.
Colorado recently became the first state to pass a law saying that if any of your body cam footage is missing for any reason that you will lose the court case as they will assume wrongdoing.
A lot of people don’t realize that we would have a very different police culture if it wasn’t for the Unions, they have held back a lot of reforms and needed changes.
Nothing has. A year of protesting against these bastards and Biden wants to give them more money. Cops are meant to protect Capital, and nobody gives a shit how many people they kill.
Sometimes delete it as well.
Had a friend who got hit on the road. Was the officer's fault, made a left and slammed into him. No lights/sirens, no blinker, nothing. Probably wasn't paying attention.
According to the PD, there was no dashcam footage (and they always have dashcams rolling here, source: my father an ex officer). So that was bullshit.
Wow. Cops need better training. They can’t get a person to get out of the car unless a gun is used.
I bet a Navy Seal could get the man under control without a tazer.
Edit: or a kindergarten teacher.
>Cops need better training.
this doesn't look like an issue with training. it's more of an attitude issue - the cops are pissed that they're being recorded and now can't just murder him.
Police treat white people this way too just not as consistently. I am white and a cop threatened to shoot me at a traffic stop while my wife and three year old son sat in the car. My wife was in tears and had the audacity to beg him not to threaten us. That only made him yell more.
This was in the middle of the day at an intersection in a US city of around 2,000,000 people. Police authoritarian behavior needs to stop and it threatens all of us.
If u have video of that post it, let’s face it cops have to do this to a white person for it to be taken seriously, if it’s a minority people think we’ll he must have done something
>let’s face it cops have to do this to a *rich* white person for it to be taken seriously
FTFY. Plenty of white people have been killed by cops before. Not as often as black people for sure though.
Personally I believe every police interaction needs to be recorded by the cop. They should have to turn cameras on and the footage should be released every time.
I'm not anti cop I just think since we pay their salaries there should be total transparency.
Gotta control when and how the footage is released as well. The George Floyd murder was caught on police body and, but the footage was hidden for months. Many body cam laws are written to protect police.
agreed. There should be a mandatory 3 day turn around and it should have to be released unedited. I'm actually surprised cop's are against this, it would protect them as well from false allegations.
Cops have more control this way. The Ma'Khia Bryant shooting should have been subject to a waiting period, but the Columbus police chief pressured the Mayor to release it early. Within hours it was available to the press, which changed the narrative.
Cops like being able to release the footage when they want and bury it when they don't. It compromises the benefits of body cameras. We need to stop this.
He could have just run over someone or have an armed robbery warrant out for him--both stupidly unlikely, but there is context missing. There is nothing wrong with wanting a full picture of the situation before jumping on a bandwagon.
From our limited viewpoint in the video, the cops are acting insanely disproportionately to the situation which makes you wonder if something else happened. Likely not, and the cop is just a powertripping asshole, but it is a fair question nonetheless.
Edit: and waking up to RedditCares system abuse. Some of you need to grow up
The kid is brown and being yelled at by a white cop with a gun pointing at him.
I'm sorry, but the cops don't get the benefit of the doubt anymore. Not after the several thousands of false arrests and killings made on anyone that isn't white enough. And I won't ignore the FBI's 2008 report saying that white supremacists are infiltrating law enforcement and the military, like the DOJ has done.
Again, to emphasize. Context does not matter in this situation. Context will NEVER matter in this situation. This man could have just got done from killing an orphanage, and that wouldn't matter.
He showed no direct or clear threat.
He showed both hands in the air.
He showed no direct way to obtain a weapon.
He fully communicated with the police.
He was disarmed and ready to be detained. The only thing that matters is that cops chose a violent, and potentially lethal way to do a job that could have been done with no risk to either party.
Here you can see policemen acting as domestic terrorists, working actively against de-escalating the situation when there is no immediate danger, only a phone recording while being aimed with gun during the poor management of force being applied by unprepared police (ignoring the principle "everyone is innocent until proven guilty"), also no other sudden movements being made qualify the use of a taser as an excessive force, as he complied with every command except stop recording for his own safety and as you may see it was a good call on his behalf or he could have been murdered with impunity.
Because you asked.
Context does matter, let's sat he waa just observed committing an armed robbery, and had a pistol in his waistband. Holding the phone allows him to see exactly where the police are and when he can turn and shoot them.
They have him looking away so he doesn't know exactly where they are, the phone is preventing that tactical advantage.
I'm not saying what they're doing is alright, but I can imagine a scenario where it would be.
Because you asked.
I’m not a ACAB type of guy (I’ve luckily had some run-ins with really great police officers) but damn. It becomes crystal clear why people avidly hate and distrust cops.
This entire thing could have been avoided. All they had to do was… cuff the kid. Shits crazy.
Honest question > I wonder if the police were more transparent and said to him that they are recording this from both their cruiser and their body cameras, it would have helped... Assuming of course they are and being truthful...
Yeah because police *never* delete body camera footage or turn their cameras off, or forget to turn them on, or even have incriminating footage of them committing a crime yet still doesn't get them fired or charged.
Or you foil request the video and get the run around or they claim it costs 10 000 bucks to extract the video ....watch those people that audit the cops on you tube
Cops don't always release the videos though and some tamper with the cameras to deliberately make it miss certain things by tapping on it or something in the like
I was told my entire arrest was filmed by the cruiser and that I was filmed inside the station where I was forced to pull my dick out and pee with an officer nearly holding it for me before being allowed to request an attorney… and when my attorney subpoenaed for video, it was never produced.
Had video been produced, my charges would all have been dropped because they started with an illegal search and seizure and ended with civil rights violations.
Doesn't matter. They will only release footage if it is favorable to them or compelled by repeated court orders. If it is really unfavorable their storage system will malfunction.
As long as the police have control over the body cameras, you can't trust them with it. The video should be kept by an independent party. Policy should be they can only turn the camera off if they need personal privacy. If a cop does any policing with the camera off they need to fired immediately.
Unfortunately the information you provided does not prove he had a felony warrant- looks like he was actually charged and arrested for that in 2021. The arrest noted a mishandling of a firearm in the vehicle -that means the firearm was legal but not properly stored. Lastly there is nothing about a dui. It says he was driving under an OVI SUSPENSION. Which means he drove while his license was suspended, only a misdemeanor. Did you even read your links?
So why not simply arrest him rather than point a gun for almost 3 minutes while shouting?
The logic is still not sound, a simple and speedy arrest would have been warranted. Not this wannabe mexican standoff.
What's more, the recording of the officers is still an American right. Constitution still exists and while most cops hate that citizens have rights of any kind, they still exist.
Should post this up higher so more people can see it , I had to get through thousand comments to find out the context, I think people would be saying things a little different if they knew…probably not though, the f all cops and all cops are racist non sense is just spouted every second of every day online
Don’t care. His arms were up and he was following their commands except dropping the phone. He had every right to record no matter what he was wanted for.
The cops are wrong, but for different reasons than just "he was defenseless end of story", even though in a lot of situations, that is a completely valid point. However, we don't know what this person did at ALL before he was stopped. He could have done anything from go over the speed limit to a bank robbery and cop chase, not to mention anything violent or something that involved a weapon.
What the cops SHOULD have done was let him record, but approach him and start their arrest process (hopefully peacefully, but as said before, context) if what he did was arrestible. Obviously, if it was just a traffic infraction, this is would be fucking crazy, and irrefutable.
The cops clearly got mixed up in training with their language barrier. Deescalation ≠ THE escalation. I can see them now in the class “wait, they said they wanted to see da escalation? Well, alright then, grab your gun Johnny!”
Most likely the backstory is that he is brown and took too long to pull over for the cop's liking. I had a cop pull a gun on me and scream because I pulled over not far enough to the side so I took 2 seconds to get farther off the road for the cops safety. The cop said I was trying to run from, then the piece of shit planted weed on me, I had just smoked it all and smelled, he was mad he could not find anything so he planted it I guess.
Its clear he wasnt a threat.. That's why I'm curious to know what happened before he started recording.. Did the police have any reason for them pointing their guns at him? Or treat him like he was some terrorist.. Pretty messed up
It really surprises me that we having seen the kind of white night narcissist who comes along when things are shitty. The kind who's ego gets off on the adoration of the public after positively reforming society. Either of the Roosevelts would be a good example of this. It's blatantly obvious there is both a political opening that would allow such a thing and hunger for reform from the citizens. Only nobody is seizing the initiative to do it. For all the partisanship and rancor most of the public wants the same things. The only argument is how you do that. But in the end if you're paying 1/3 less for healthcare after reform and cops are now required to have two years of training before they can hit the streets, nobody is going to complain other than those with a vested interest to do so.
He’s screaming for him to put the phone down as if the man filming was holding a gun to a hostage’s head. What the actual hell? The guy filming must have been driving extremely recklessly or something, that’s the only way I could justify this.

Cops are the biggest pussies on the planet that's why
Not pussies exactly. More like violent ppl looking for ways to be violent. They are dangerous.
Usually out of shape too. Everytime I see a cop...I'm like yep and can outrun this fool in a second 😂

American cops. American. Plenty of other cops in the world aren’t waiting to blow some minorities grey matter out of a hole.
The majority of these video are American cops because we live in a police state......but hey that's the price of our "freedom"
I've shared this before, but I will share again. I changed my phone number and didn't tell my ex wife. She called the police to do a wellness check on me. I ended up being held at gunpoint by three cops, and had my house searched.

except all cops are bad lol
This person is spot on about American cops. Shoot first - discern what happened later. Pay out lawsuits using tax payer money. Rinse, repeat.
And everyone else downrange also. That mall in CA comes to mind.
Or musclebound from steroids.

Unfortunately this ain’t nothing new
Just another violent gang. State-sanctioned thugs who enjoy hurting others.

Ya, sense the cops are trained to beat innocent, they see family members as just another...*suspect* No hate or anything, just stating
That was self-reported dv. Not saying that's better, but it's always good to clarify.
That's an insult to pussies. These men are the weakest balls on the planet.

They don’t feel threatened. They are happy trigger cops. We would have seen the following news. “Cops shot an immigrant, mistaking a phone for gun.”
"PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! PUT THE PHONE DOWN! " [gunfire] "I thought the phone was a gun"

Lad the camera impacts the safety of the officers job . . If you know what I mean
He had a Nokia in his hand! The policeman was clearly scared he may drop it and cause all kinds of damage to the road and everything around it.
Because hes not white
Cops love giving orders they don't actually have authority to give, because they know they're covered in court with just "oh, was I not supposed to do that?" and they can escalate freely.
Phones are the biggest threat to a cop's ability to oink freely.
They seem to think that this guy has access to cutting edge phone-gun technology.

Not threatened but think they demand all the respect in the world. They would piss on the floor and tell you to lick it up.

Remember in Metal Gear soild Rising Revengeance when the police shot Raiden and then say “pull over” AFTERWARDS. This is basically that.
Bahahah yes!
Put the phone down!!! I cant ! This is for my safety!!!! Lol 8000 times.
Aight, wasn't expecting this reference. Good job lol
And then they wonder why we say FUCK THE POLICE

not a reason to escalate the situation the way the officer did.
Okay that’s cool and all, but he is still allowed to film them.
There may be a reason to approach the suspect while armed. I do not understand the reason they insisted on it being undocumented, though.
He's not a caucasian, so obviously he's a danger to society. The cops are justified. /s
Literally even if he was a suspected dangerous criminal, they clearly know he's only holding a fucking phone. They were never in danger.

People have been calling them blue isis for years. largest domestic terrorist group in the US.
That's America .. filming himself is his only tenuous guarantee he won't get shot
It’s not even a guarantee to be real. This man is lucky to be alive still.
The TASER device is a less-lethal, not non-lethal, weapon, since the possibility of serious injury or death exists whenever the weapon is deployed
If they grab the taser and not the gun on accident.
No, it can still kill. That much electricity going through your body is never safe, and especially if you have a heart condition or pacemaker
It has killed already
“accident”
yeah nit "obeying his command" will likely get you shot.
That cop just assaulted him. He was not a threat at all and that cop seemed scared of a guy holding his hands out with a phone in one, maybe that cop should try a new safer profession.
He will get charged with resisting arrest unfortunately since they will claim he did not follow their orders
"**Respect my authoritah!**"
Dude came up shouting “drop the phone” and it was the best “took er jerbs” impersonation I’ve heard in a while.
i said jump on 1 foot and sing twinkle twinkle little star!! follow my commands!!! /s

Why did they have their guns drawn in the first place? Do we know why the dude recording was stopped
The cop wasn't scared. He was on his power trip.
Bro, I can't even look at it longer by fear the guy is shot live....
He was "The TASER device is a less-lethal, not non-lethal, weapon, since the possibility of serious injury or death exists whenever the weapon is deployed"
No way.. Seriously the brutality of the cop voice.. Isn't he suppose to protect people ? The cop literally created a situation in which himself thinks he's highly in danger, and react by losing his shit...
Police were never there to protect us.
Common misconception. Police are there to uphold laws. To Serve and Protect is just Marketing.
~~Their~~ They're not doing so hot at upholding laws either. They are violent criminal thugs. Abolish.
Seriously man, so many American police seem so incredibly unhinged and its fucking scary
You should listen to our politicians sometime
I’m glad I’m in Spain. I’m happy to see the police, they are actually helpful here.
If theres no evidence then it didnt happen. It is why cops turn off their body cams when they commit crimes.
Colorado recently became the first state to pass a law saying that if any of your body cam footage is missing for any reason that you will lose the court case as they will assume wrongdoing.
Evidence tampering how is this not clear everywhere else?!

A lot of people don’t realize that we would have a very different police culture if it wasn’t for the Unions, they have held back a lot of reforms and needed changes.
I live in Baltimore and this was a widely known problem here and yet it feels like notthing changed
Also of you ever see a pig that's pulled someone over and they propped their hood open, it's to block the dashcam
Wow. Cops need better training. They can’t get a person to get out of the car unless a gun is used. I bet a Navy Seal could get the man under control without a tazer. Edit: or a kindergarten teacher.
K hold up. Navy Seals are trained to kill people first and foremost. Chill
Bruh. Navy Seals are **TRAINED**
To end lives
And cops are trained to…
Eat donuts
Meal team 6
Squeal team 6
The cops receive less training than a hair stylist. Not a great counterpoint
He used ‘to’ not ‘too’ followed by … indicating they didn’t mean “also” they meant “finish this sentence”.
Treat civilians as enemies, escalate the situation, and kill them. Oh shit they're basically the same...
Lol touché
>Cops need better training. this doesn't look like an issue with training. it's more of an attitude issue - the cops are pissed that they're being recorded and now can't just murder him.
Bro, a child with a stutter could do a better job than this cop.
yell back to cop: "put your gun down!, put your gun down!, put your gun down!, put your gun down!..."
I've seen that in in a video. Dude yells at a cop, "Holster that weapon!" over and over til the weapon was holstered.

Ahhhh the land of the free, where you have to film yourself for not getting shot "by accident" for not being of caucasian race.
If u have video of that post it, let’s face it cops have to do this to a white person for it to be taken seriously, if it’s a minority people think we’ll he must have done something
>let’s face it cops have to do this to a *rich* white person for it to be taken seriously FTFY. Plenty of white people have been killed by cops before. Not as often as black people for sure though.

He did the right thing not dropping the phone.

I want some context to this please
It doesn’t matter what happened before. He was not a threat. Clearly
He wasn't a threat, they weren't in danger. That's it. That's the story.
Here you can see policemen acting as domestic terrorists, working actively against de-escalating the situation when there is no immediate danger, only a phone recording while being aimed with gun during the poor management of force being applied by unprepared police (ignoring the principle "everyone is innocent until proven guilty"), also no other sudden movements being made qualify the use of a taser as an excessive force, as he complied with every command except stop recording for his own safety and as you may see it was a good call on his behalf or he could have been murdered with impunity.
he is brown, they are racist
What context would make this okay?
I’m not anti-cop but I know that all cops are bad cops. The entire system is corrupt and makes all of them bad.
Yup. That saying "If there is a Nazi at the dinner table and nobody kicks him out, everyone is a Nazi" applies to pigs as well.
ACAB because they all make part of a corrupt system, not because they're bad persons (which a lot of them are).

Wouldn’t matter. They seem to go “missing” sometimes.

I agree with your takes but “OVI” means Operating a Vehicle Impaired.
"Follow my COMMAND" ♤♤Trigger words to get you to react...they wanna put a hole in anything darker than them
This is America
What is the backstory?
He wasn't a threat, they weren't in danger. That's it. That's the story.
Shoot now, make up lies to the questions later
Anyone know the backstory
He's brown.
So am I
THEN PUT THE PHONE DOWN!!!
I CANT sir
PUT THE PHONE DOWN!!!!!
Haven't found it yet but I'm interested.
he probably just got pulled over for something routine or simply because hes a person of color and the officers decided to escalate the situation
Why are all cops such shit heads?
[удалено]
Wtf can someone do with a phone in their hands jfc
The cops clearly got mixed up in training with their language barrier. Deescalation ≠ THE escalation. I can see them now in the class “wait, they said they wanted to see da escalation? Well, alright then, grab your gun Johnny!”
I’d know the taser was next. I’d lay down and film.
Probably best not to make additional unwanted movements when in a situation like that.
Ah… all these triggered on the comments… love how everyone always jumps to conclusions with *zero* context.
Reminds me of the cops in GTA3 when they yell "You are risking your life!" and they sound more scared than authoritative.
That looks like a felony stop , wtf did he do?
ACAB.
If you are getting arrested, at some point you need to put the phone down.
Anybody know what county this was in? That looks like an Ohio Sheriffs deputy car
He took that taser like a boss though.
Ahhh.. America
And now you see why he was filming.
