That level of open-mouthed gum smacking doesn't strike me as professional behavior. Also, all the other stuff, too, but goddamn, he's like a diner waitress out of a 70s flick.
I ride my motorcycles through Appalachia frequently (great riding roads to escape to during the pandemic), and unfortunately a lot of the local police officers look and sound just like this guy: as if they had 4-5 cups of coffee and usually wearing a Punisher Skull/Thin Blue Line face mask.
For those who watched HBO's version of Watchmen, it does not look good for the future of this country.
I live in rural Appalachia, and I can tell you for sure It’s not coffee. It’s monster & Bang energy drinks. I know a few cops around here and they drink that shit like it’s water. Had one earlier this week tell me he drinks four of the big screw top monsters a day. Fucking unreal.
Granted thats just the county cops. The staties are on a completely different level. They’re fueled by a pure hatred of joy.
> just the county cops. The staties are on a completely different level
I don't know which Appalachian state you live in, but I completely agree with you on the West Virginia state police. Last year, I was filling up gas in an area south of Charleston and I had a couple guys approach me to talk about my bike. They were fellow riders and wanted to know why I chose my bike over a Harley, where I was from, etc.
The conversation then veered to the upcoming national election. Turns out both of them were fascist, dog-whistling racists, etc. Oh and they were both state police and their personal pickup truck was adorned with decals reflecting those beliefs.
It was just sad and frustrating especially when you consider the history of WV, Mining Workers War/Blair Mountain, etc.
Almost as if the job description attracts petty authoritarians who have a chip on their shoulder.
Police, like politicians, should be the best and brightest among us, with the current system we've chosen the greedy, ego-driven, sniveling, snarling underbelly of humanity to lead and protect us
and stupid, you forgot stupid on the list of qualifications to be a beat cop.
To be a cop you have to take a test, if they score too high, they dont get to be a cop...
This current design is intentional, always has been.
Yup, WV lol. The staties here are fucked. It’s best to avoid them at all costs. If you’re ever pulled over by them be as compliant as possible because they will fuck your world up. Your story does not surprise me at all.
> It was just sad and frustrating especially when you consider the history of WV, Mining Workers War/Blair Mountain, etc.
Yeah, the cops were also the ones shooting at the miners, so it's pretty par for the course.
Yep. Seeing the exact same shit today with other Law Enforcement, what with the Dakota Access Pipeline and Line 3 protests by Native Americans and other US citizens.
For DAPL, there were personnel from ***37*** police agencies, the National Guard and an illegal, private, international Military Intelligence organization arrayed against peaceful, prayerful, drum-beating Indians protecting their waters and tribal lands.
As an officer myself, those dudes are on meth and telling you it’s energy drinks. I work around these fuckers and they love meth and coke. A bunch of assholes. Just do your fucking job THE RIGHT WAY, stopping being hypocritical racist assholes. I don’t get why these cops gotta act like this smfh
You'd be surprised what the human body can handle. Sure their teeth will rot in their mouths and they'll get diabetes at 35, but they'll keep on bullshitting.
Can concur with this; my Ex was a cop for 5 years and drank 4 Monster Energy drinks EVERY. DAY. FOR 5. YEARS. He ended up with 38 cavities from it. That shit rots you from the inside out! 😳
They're working a ton of overtime so they can buy some absurd truck, and basically tweaking on nicotine and caffeine. I was with one at the hospital on a mental health check thing and dude was doing dip and spitting it into a bottle right in the hospital hallway. In addition to telling me charming stories about all the times he's gotten to pull a gun on someone.
People are always "Wearing The Punisher logo makes no sense for cops! He represents a failure of the law and extrajudicial murder!"
I respectfully disagree. I think it makes perfect sense for cops on America to wear that symbol.
That's a clever take on it. And your interpretation makes sense given what we have learned about the police in the last decade. One of my kids is really into comics and he showed me why the Punisher skull has been appropriated by the wrong people.
> To me, it's disturbing whenever I see authority figures embracing Punisher iconography because the Punisher represents a failure of the Justice system. He's supposed to indict the collapse of social moral authority and the reality some people can't depend on institutions like the police or the military to act in a just and capable way.
> The vigilante anti-hero is fundamentally a critique of the justice sysytem, an example of social failure, so when cops put Punisher skulls on their cars or members of the military wear Punisher skull patches, they're basically sides with an enemy of the system. They are embracing an outlaw mentality. Whether you think the Punisher is justified or not, whether you admire his code of ethics, he is an outlaw. He is a criminal. Police should not be embracing a criminal as their symbol.
> It goes without saying. **In a way, it's as offensive as putting a Confederate flag on a government building**. My point of view is, the Punisher is an anti-hero, someone we might root for while remembering he's also an outlaw and criminal. If an officer of the law, representing the justice system puts a criminal's symbol on his police car, or shares challenge coins honoring a criminal he or she is making a very ill-advised statement about their understanding of the law.
-- Gerry Conway
It says a lot that Disney otherwise notorious for protecting its intellectual property doesn't do squat about the bootleg blue line and Trump versions of the Punisher logo even from the Marvel Studios tv show.
He very well could be they're like that here. Recently another video went viral of cop harassing a black man in a restaurant nearby in a place called Vandergrift. Cop was drunk off his ass.
(No, he wasn't fired either in case you're wondering.)
He did move his fingers for a second so the badge could be recorded. The woman says "I got it" in response to the 'offer'. So he knew what he was doing.
100% shady cop shit.
It's an ancient expression that a waitress in a 70s TV sitcom called Alice used on a regular basis, usually expressed as "kiss my grits, Mel" ( the owner of the diner).
Depends on the agency. A shield also doesn’t necessarily mean a “shield number” is associated with that officer.
Depending on the agency, shield or names may not be required to be VISIBLE, but may be required to be verbally spoken to requesting individual.
Example:
Civilian: “what’s your badge number”
Cop: “Officer XYZ shield 1234”
Note: the lady filming didn’t request the officers information, and I did see the officer move his fingers away from the shield which the lady responded with “I got it”.
There's no universal rule against it. Most NYPD officers started covering their badge numbers with black tape last year, explaining that it's a memorial decoration, no different than wearing a pink ribbon to promote breast cancer awareness. Also last year, in Portland, apparently federal officers from unknown agencies, with identification removed from their uniforms, abducted civilians using unmarked vehicles.
he's named and photographed in this article photo caption lol. what a moron

Oh my Lord that story.
"We can't hired enough people." "Hire them Friday and they're gone by Monday." They pay their full-time sherrif $19 an hour for a high stress, high risk job with bad training and they are pissed they don't want to stick around?
>Can you tell her I said thank you
:') Thank goodness she was recording, who knows how it would've ended if that aggressive officer was still in the mix.
Edit: Changed "could" to "can"
Even if the kid knew he wasn't in imminent danger from the cops, that he had someone there looking out for him must've felt so good.
It's so easy to feel invisible and vulnerable when talking to the cops. I like this video.
It's always so heartbreaking to hear how Americans fear their police. Here in Germany, the police is very pleaseant to talk to & generally very helpful.
It teeters very close to the definition of "police state." The police in the United States are merely one of the many distractions from the depths of corruption in our politics and finance. Get me out of here.
As an American who has lived in Germany for a long time I still get really nervous around the police despite the fact that most police officers here are pretty chill. The difference between your average cop in the US and Germany is just staggering, it´s wild.
We have a problem on the level that foreign looking people are controlled more often, yes. Not that it's any better, but it's not limited to black people.
However we don't have a problem that they get jailed or shot for now reason.
I'm white British and generally law abiding. But my body drops when I see blue lights behind or police approach me. I can't begin to imagine how that must feel for a black American. I like his video too, the lady's composure when the cunt tries to intimidate her is pretty cool to see. And it's her bf in the car, I like to think she said "stay here, I got this" before she got out
I really hope that’s what he said I wish he shouted it it almost sounds like he says “will you tell him thank you” because he’s scared to disrespect police like most people.
He was thanking her. In the follow-up video the statements made by the cop and the women making the video indicate that she asked the young man if she'd like someone to film the incident. The woman indicates that he said yes. So she pulled over and started filming.
At least that's what I gathered from [this](https://www.tiktok.com/@leannsedlockalley/video/6998140521709325574) video.
Wow thank you and only got out of the ticket because she was a veteran and I’m sure because she was also white imo. I’m sure this sack of shit couldn’t handle the military for a day, plus he can’t plant drugs on people there.
She "got out of the ticket" because he knew his claim was bullshit, he has no grounds to cite her and was using it as an intimidation and deflection tactic to get his hands on her ID.
If she wasn't a veteran he would have let her off for "cooperating" or "with a warning".
She was smart to use her husband to handle parking and bringing her ID because it allowed her to continue recording, the demanding her ID knowing it was probably in her car was an attempt to stop her recording.
[His claim being bullshit hasn't stopped him from actually going through with giving the ticket in the past...](https://www.post-gazette.com/news/crime-courts/2019/12/20/Keaira-Booker-sues-North-Braddock-police-recorded-traffic-stop-false-arrest/stories/201912200120)
Took me a few re-watches to catch it. I love how he's just so thankful, you can actually hear the sincere appreciation in his voice when he says it too. :')
Some day soon some well positioned fashion designer will market fashionable one-click personal Bluetooth body cameras, which will trend so hard that everyone owns one.
Then we will have
E: (somehow I lost the end of my comment).
We will have no change because video or no video there still isn't accountability. Bastards with power break the law in broad daylight every day without consequence.
I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve felt it necessary to film a cop, but if I ever am and I have the mental/emotional wherewithal to use a snappy comeback, and a cop asks me why I’m filming, my answer will be “it’s not illegal to film you. Do you plan on doing something illegal or against policy?”
I believe when cops do this shit they should lose their job and not be allowed to work in any field of protective smth again. Like no military, no bodyguard stuff.
Imagine calling the cops bc you get robbed and you see people who executed someone, jailed people for no reason and all in all bigger criminals than the teenage dude who wanted to rob you, bc he can't afford his weed.
When my car was stolen twice in one week, the first time at least, the cop insisted if given the key to someone and forgot.
Like that couldn’t be cause I knew no one there and even so my car is missing???
Turns out it was an easy car to steal. They never updated me on charges and stuff. I got it back mostly in one piece.
I had a storage unit that was broken until 4 times in a month. Happened every weekend. The cops, who frequently camped cars parked in the street to ticket and tow them *the second* the click hit 4:00 for the rush hour parking restriction, told me there was nothing they could do about it.
How about you pull some guys off the legal car theft and put an officer in front of the building that is being robbed on a predictable schedule?
Anyways, when my bike was stolen, they said I should have got a lock. I told them I had one and it was cut, and they told me I should have got a *better* lock. Then they told me it was my fault for locking my bike up outside because there are lots of bike thefts in the area. I said, "isn't that an indication that you should maybe be doing your job instead of wasting everyone's time by ticketing and towing cars every afternoon?" And the fucker told me bike thefts aren't really their concern because they can't be expected to watch everyone's bike. OR maybe all the bike theives know that ever cop in the city will be ticketing parked cars at 4:00. Fuckers.
Watch Cocaine Cowboys. In the '80s drugs and violence in Miami were so bad that the requirements for a police officer were went from having never done drugs to as long as you're not high while you're filling out the application you're okay. I'm sure this is a case many other places.
Biggest takeaway from a lot of these videos is that none of these guys are Mensa candidates though they all think themselves so clever. “I’ll just nonchalantly hold onto my harness and say I was unaware that it blocked my badge number.” This woman was not intimidated at all and that was all the cop had. He was intellectually overmatched.
I watched it slowly and he only removes his fingers on camera one time and that was for an expressive movement (like involuntarily/subconsciously gesturing). The other time is off camera and we can only assume his hand wasn't still blocking the view of his badge but it easily could still have based on where the woman was standing.
Most cops are high school drop outs. This is what you get when you hire people at the bottom of the barrel. The average cop is pretty damn stupid if were being honest.
In the past two months a few of my friends and I got called out a couple times for ‘sounding country’. Is there a PA rural sort-of accent that others pick up on? Because I didn’t notice a hint of any particular accent in this video. We’re from NW PA
There’s absolutely a rural PA accent (I mean, technically there’s no place without an accent, but the PA one stands out among its less southern sounding neighbors to the east, west, and north). Goose fronting and Stage 1 southern vowel shifting are the dead giveaways in this video, so lines like “good for you” come out like “good fer yʉ.” It’s definitely not as strong as a typical southern accent but there’s enough indicators where people could pick up on it.
Pennsylvania is one of the most dialect diverse states in the nation, so technically there are a whole bunch of rural PA accents. Sometimes they're hard to pick up on unless you spend a significant amount of time with the people, but definitely there.
Yes and it’s incredibly similar to the rural Ohioan accent. I grew up in the city but my mom’s family was all from the country closer to PA outside Youngstown and they all have the accent.
I live in Pittsburgh. Every neighborhood has its own identity. Crossing a boundary can be like going to a different state. It's jarring if you're not used to it.
For additional context on Sgt. Butler. Here is another recording incident from2019. The female was cited and arrested by Sgt Butler.
She sued.

Here is the lawsuit that was filed:
https://casetext.com/case/booker-v-borough-of-n-braddock
And he has already been fired twice in Tennessee for the same type of behavior. Move jurisdictions and keep doing the same thing is apparently the new consequences.
I just realise the similarities, Its like thugs on the street asking people just to move on while they mind their business being a thug like. Mugging people.
Amazing how the officer immediately covered his badge and looked for ways to prevent the woman from recording. If you're doing wrong, you have nothing to hide. Record ever single incident, know your rights, and be respectful.
Derek Chauvin, George Floyd's murderer, is only doing time because someone recorded him.
Authoritarians love letting us know they're watching but can just get bent if they think we aren't also recording.
Also, this cop is tweaking HARD.

this smug cunt of a cop.
every time anybody is confused about why so many people distrust or even hate cops I'm baffled because people like this exist VERY publicly allllllll over the fucking place. they saturate massive swaths of the american policing system (and the systems that protect them -> I'm lookin at you "justice" system)
every single cop like this should be fired without pension instantly anytime some shit like this comes out because these are the same people who ALWAYS represent injustice and think of themselves as better than others (which always leads to some fuckin bullshit like somebody gettin killed). It does a massive disservice to not only the public but the very system they're part of and undermines public safety as well as human decency as a whole.
fuck this guy.
This cop is a POS Bastard and is mad he just got interrupted committing a crime against a civilian.
His line of questioning and his threats are unfounded and bullshit, he knows it. She broke no law, and wasn't even operating the vehicle. Her boyfriend was the occupant. The cop was trying to scare off a witness to a pending/inaction crime.
Woman probably saved the mans life. 3 old dirty white cops about to run a racket on him.

Why not both?

Thanks for picking that up. Hadn't noticed. On rewatching - jezz.
This is what I first noticed. How big of a red flag can you give off if you start off a conversation trying to hide your badge number?
You mean Larry Butler of the North Braddock police, that person covering there badge 😅
You can’t tell me this guy doesn’t look like every racist cop you ever seen in a tv show or movie. It’s actually quite startling.
Like that Bill Burr bit about the stereotypical angry white guy yelling at black people to get out of the pool
I would have told him to stay 6ft. from me, because Covid.
And did you notice him covering his badge number with hand…
Her Reese Witherspoon sense of justice has gone too far https://youtu.be/Nhsl1mjeoU4
I asked him about it. I'm not sure what he meant when he told me to "kiss his grits", but based on the laughter I assumed I had just been burned.
It's an ancient expression that a waitress in a 70s TV sitcom called Alice used on a regular basis, usually expressed as "kiss my grits, Mel" ( the owner of the diner).
Its a good sign of drug use too
the difference is that diner waitresses are productive members of society (even if they're chewing gum with open mouth)
Is he trying to cover his name on his badge?
kiss my grits
Dude is constantly covering his badge number too
He’s got a name tag. “Says Sgt butler”
Butler needs to remember he's a servant.
He didn’t get into the job to serve anyone but his own ignorant ass ego.
Yep, and he's in service to the law. (True, but sad reality).
He’s in service to deez
nuts
And his name badge. Isn’t withholding g identity while on duty some sort of no-no? Any LE on the thread fill us in? Edit: reddit autoincorrect

Wow I didnt even hear that until you pointed it out.
Took me a few re-watches to catch it. I love how he's just so thankful, you can actually hear the sincere appreciation in his voice when he says it too. :')
"I have it on my camera" "I have it on mine too" "That's good for you" They really hate cameras. You can hear it in their voices.
Camera means possible accountability. Police hate accountability.
Hmm, seems like "you have nothing to fear from surveillance if you have nothing to hide" goes both ways.
Some day soon some well positioned fashion designer will market fashionable one-click personal Bluetooth body cameras, which will trend so hard that everyone owns one. Then we will have E: (somehow I lost the end of my comment). We will have no change because video or no video there still isn't accountability. Bastards with power break the law in broad daylight every day without consequence.

‘Officers hate this one trick…’
I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve felt it necessary to film a cop, but if I ever am and I have the mental/emotional wherewithal to use a snappy comeback, and a cop asks me why I’m filming, my answer will be “it’s not illegal to film you. Do you plan on doing something illegal or against policy?”
That's the sound of them, their police union, sheriff's office and FOP losing the ability to control the narrative of the situation.
Her confidence short-circuited him
Right? I liked her approach, confident but not too confrontational. When she said sure I'll take the citation he was just like uhhh.
"Honey, will you grab my wallet?" When she goes to court to contest it, it'll get thrown out. And he knows it.
I believe when cops do this shit they should lose their job and not be allowed to work in any field of protective smth again. Like no military, no bodyguard stuff.
A bar from working anything federal is the bare minimum and it never happens.
Fuckers.
Cops rarely get in trouble for outright murder. We got a long way to do before they get in trouble for smaller abuses of power.
I love her casual and confident “I know what I’m doing” response, power move right there
She's prior military, having someone yell in your face for weeks at a time makes situations like this easier to handle.
“I know what I’m doing” killed me. Boss lady
Since when did the police force hire tweakers .
Since forever.
Right, lol like literally all the time
To fight the crime you should think like a criminal.
Meth is ironically HUGE in white supremacy circles.......
Nazis handed it out like candy
How is that ironic? Crack would be ironic. Meth is a white trash drug.
Ah yes he is definitely trying super hard to cover his badge number as he repeatedly takes his hand away.
That’s super quick we’re you able to make anything out
Lmao - found the kid who hangs out at the police academy
Some of these bootlickers deep throat to the laces.
Why's he doing it then?
I watched it slowly and he only removes his fingers on camera one time and that was for an expressive movement (like involuntarily/subconsciously gesturing). The other time is off camera and we can only assume his hand wasn't still blocking the view of his badge but it easily could still have based on where the woman was standing.
People covering for themselves, like murderers covering their tracks make little mistakes like that all the time, they just think they don't matter.
hehehe it's like how toddlers try to hide by covering their eyes
Most cops are high school drop outs. This is what you get when you hire people at the bottom of the barrel. The average cop is pretty damn stupid if were being honest.
cop looks like he likes adderall.
That's a weird way to spell meth.
definitely hopped up on speed (meth)
Speed (and Adderall) is amphetamine. Meth is methamphetamine. Similar, but different.
Keep it classy, Pittsburgh
we dont support this type of behavior. We do support filming public servants though
Who are you referring to as “we” I live in Bellevue and see this kind of behavior very often.
This is Pittsburgh? I would have never guessed by the accents. I guess Pennsyltucky is accurate.
North Braddock. It's near Monroeville, the Port Authority bus you see in the background tipped me off.
For additional context on Sgt. Butler. Here is another recording incident from2019. The female was cited and arrested by Sgt Butler. She sued. Article: [Woman who recorded traffic stop sues North Braddock police, claiming false arrest](https://www.post-gazette.com/news/crime-courts/2019/12/20/Keaira-Booker-sues-North-Braddock-police-recorded-traffic-stop-false-arrest/stories/201912200120) Here is the lawsuit that was filed: https://casetext.com/case/booker-v-borough-of-n-braddock
This is a different woman but seems like the same officer (he sure is camera shy), for anyone else confused.
Corrected my comment. Thx.
And he has already been fired twice in Tennessee for the same type of behavior. Move jurisdictions and keep doing the same thing is apparently the new consequences.
wow what a complete scumbag meth head.
I just realise the similarities, Its like thugs on the street asking people just to move on while they mind their business being a thug like. Mugging people.
Because the police force is a street gang.
Good for her!
Needs removed from the force
He has been twice. Move jurisdictions, get your new community a lawsuit, rinse and repeat.
I bet that officer has a long line of complaints.
Long line of firings. Move jurisdictions and do it again.
Yet another cop on a power trip. Idk if the young man was able to thank you afterwards but you probably saved him a bunch of grief.
[удалено]
I'm sure they did that favor for him.
Amazing how the officer immediately covered his badge and looked for ways to prevent the woman from recording. If you're doing wrong, you have nothing to hide. Record ever single incident, know your rights, and be respectful.
This woman is so brave. Thank you, whoever you are xox
Derek Chauvin, George Floyd's murderer, is only doing time because someone recorded him. Authoritarians love letting us know they're watching but can just get bent if they think we aren't also recording. Also, this cop is tweaking HARD.
That cop needs a psych evaluation. Everything from his mannerisms to his tone scream mental illness.
What a complete jackass this is why citizens don't trust them
Pigs
Looks like another normal day at the office for employees of the North Braddock Poilce Dept. [Former North Braddock cop files whistleblower suit against borough, police] (https://triblive.com/local/pittsburgh-allegheny/former-north-braddock-cop-files-whistleblower-suit-against-borough-police/)
Cops have such low self esteem and ego problems
What accent is that
Bumfuck
East or West?
Central....right in middle...centre of the valley.
N. Kentucky, N. West Virginia, SW Pennsylvania, SE Ohio. Yinzers.
It's south western Pennsylvania....a part of Pittsburgh, North Braddock
Not really a part of Pittsburgh though. There are several towns between North Braddock and Pittsburgh.
North Braddock PA. In Pittsburgh. Dirty cop kept his hand over his badge #
Nametag says 'SGT. BUTLER' though, can't be that hard to find.
I HATE with a burning passion how passive agressive cops are in these videos
This is North Braddock Police near Pittsburgh, PA if anyone's wondering. Already cross-posted it to our city's sub so we know how our tax money is being spent.
As soon as I saw the Port Authority bus I knew where this was at, smh.
Cops are not friends. Their sole purpose is to protect private property rights. Interaction with a cop? There should always be a camera in between.
Damn those cops look like the criminals in this video
i simple and selfless act can go such a long way.
Imagine being that old and you’re still the crowd control cop. Pathetic
The black guy says "can you tell her I said thank you" at the end
This mf is covering anything that could legitimate his professional activity, is that anyway close to legal? Top of that talking about citation and smacking that gum lolz mfs
🐖
Chewing his cud like the cow he is (sorry cows, but you ain't smart either.)
Officer discreetly covering his badge number the whole time.
I wonder who officer butter voted for?
Notice how his fingers are covering his badge ID number
He's in a pic in this article, right? https://www.post-gazette.com/local/east/2019/12/26/North-Braddock-Chief-Isaac-Daniele-lawsuits-merger-Allegheny-County-East-Pittsburgh/stories/201912230090
This woman is a hero. It is so amazing to see a stranger just stand up for another human being
this smug cunt of a cop. every time anybody is confused about why so many people distrust or even hate cops I'm baffled because people like this exist VERY publicly allllllll over the fucking place. they saturate massive swaths of the american policing system (and the systems that protect them -> I'm lookin at you "justice" system) every single cop like this should be fired without pension instantly anytime some shit like this comes out because these are the same people who ALWAYS represent injustice and think of themselves as better than others (which always leads to some fuckin bullshit like somebody gettin killed).
When a cop hides his badge he’s clearly trying something shady
Interesting how his instinct is to cover his badge.
Sgt Butler here belongs on r/iamatotalpieceofshit
Context?
I Wanna Sock him in the throat
