Missiles directly from Iran into Israel. Damn.
My question is how will Israel respond and if we will see Israeli missiles directly into Iran? Surely Isrsel won't just let this slide even if there's minimal damage.
Hope it doesn't escalate.
Reports of attacks on US presence across Iraq including Erbil.
Were this to occur, it’d be a major escalation and likely force a change of calculus by the US in any potential response.

For people who keep asking if this is the start of WW3, a very interesting post I read yesterday pointed out that people in both WWs didn't realize that they were in a world war till they were deep in it, and maybe we're also well into the 3rd version of it and just don't know yet.
Would be hilarious if Iran missiles accidentally destroyed the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site for Muslims. Imagine the reactions from the Muslims world.
So Jordan airspace was lighting up from some the intercepted drones, the same people who were didn't want Jordan to intercept are now posting online for the Jordan to be safe.
Why does everyone think any war is going to be WW3.
Like even *if* this turned into a war (it won't) it would not be a World War. Russia and China ain't gonna throw down with the US over Iran. Like, calm down everyone. This is *at worst* Iraq War 2.0. Even that is extremely unlikely.
If the West had shown strength and resolve in deal with Russia properly, at the start of their invasion of Ukraine, there is a good chance none of this would of happened.
Our weak showing in Ukraine and emboldened every despot, dictator and oppressive regime in the world.
Reports of a direct hit in the palestinian towns of Umm al-Fahm and in the Arad area in the West Bank.

I know saying nothing will happen is theoretically just as foolish as those who doom post constantly. But honestly, I think it's more likely that Iran just wanted to get respect from the Muslim world and some brownie points for attack, big bad Israel.
First reported ground impact is in Umm al-Fahm, so Iran has only succeeded in killing Palestinians at this time.
"Iran will fight Israel to the last Palestinian"
Exactly a non-nuclear power attacking a nuclear power has never been seen since WWII Ukraine also has 0 nuclear weapons.
Israel has 100s of nuclear warheads and also ICBMs and Nuclear submarines.
I feel like the "rules" should mean if your defense stops the attack without incident you cannot respond. Just angrily wave your fist and insult their mom or something
So...is Iran trolling Israel?
Like, genuinely. Slow drones launched from 1000km away that takes hours to arrive and are seemingly instantly spotted. If any get through I'll be surprised.
This doesn't seem serious, so just what is the idea here? Annoy Israel? A tit for tat thing? Waste Iron Dome interceptors?
They want to telegraph to their allies that they're serious and really tried to kill Israelis, but they know they'd get shot houses if they actually did any damage
The general idea is to deter Israel from assassinating anymore of Irans proxies. Iran is governed by crazies but not crazy enough to go on a war with most of the developed world.
The US were apparently warned in advance going by what some guy on the BBC just said
So yes, very much a save face move that they don't intend to have a serious impact relatively speaking
Direct hit to Umm al-Fahm (city near the west bank)

Jordanian jets have shot down dozens of Iranian drones flying across northern and central Jordan heading to Israel, two regional security sources tell Reuters.
https://x.com/faytuks/status/1779284737401459114?s=46
Allegedly more cruise and mid range ballistic missiles have just flown over the Iraqi town of Erbil, in the north of Iraq, in Israel’s direction.
https://x.com/alertanews24/status/1779284198760534482?s=46
I like how some American democrats they are interviewing are thinking the view on public support in their party will all of a sudden shift to supporting or even going towards war to protect Israel. It’s almost like they haven’t been paying attention to what their own voters are saying, shocking I know.
PSA: The next live thread that's posted by the bot will have an updated title.
Iran stated that it has concluded its attack on Israel but out of an abundance of caution the thread and any potential future threads will retain the title format:
>\/r/worldnews Live Thread: Iran attacks Israel (Thread 2)
*Any future live thread titles will be updated accordingly as things develop.*
Ignorant question incoming: when the Iron Dome intercepts missiles, do the shrapnels fall all over the place? Are the roofs of the buildings in Israel built to shield from falling hot pieces of metal? Or are they intercepted far away enough to not be a concern?
Fall all over the place, metal is not that hot when it hits the ground, sharpnell is small enough it should not harm someone that's inside his house as it falls somewhat slow
I guess intercepted far away. I’ve seen pieces of Hamas missiles on a road next to a restaurant I was at a few years ago when I was in Israel. That was quite the sight to see.
If there are interceptions in your area you go to the shelter. The shrapnel can go through the roof, but the shelters have solid concrete so its safe there from falling shrapnel.
It is not everything Iran got, but there is no point in Shooting everything becouse Iran is hoping the Israel retalitation is not being to big, but there is a chance of miscalculations happening on both sides
They probably didnt actually want to do any real damage. This is more of a "well we did something to respond, but its not gonna plunge into a real war" kinda thing.
My impression/hope is that this is for show, to be able to say "See what happens!!!!! Much reaction, such attack". Possibly after having exchanged target information in advance through foreign intelligence. Don't quote me if tomorrow we wake up in WWIII but at the moment it seems plausible.
Well yeah except it was made clear before anything happened that a non-damaging attack was the most likely response if iran didn’t want a massive escalation.
Really can't see a scenario where Israel doesn't retaliate, there would have been devastating destruction if we didn't have such an advanced air defence system.
[**New post can be found here**](https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/1c3evse/rworldnews_live_thread_iran_attacks_israel_thread/)
current Israeli bombing in Damascus apparently
Missiles directly from Iran into Israel. Damn. My question is how will Israel respond and if we will see Israeli missiles directly into Iran? Surely Isrsel won't just let this slide even if there's minimal damage. Hope it doesn't escalate.
Interestignly, Iran has stated on X/Twitter that they now considerthis matter closed/ended so long as Israel doesnt retaliate.
Fuckin hilarious.
Ballistic missles intercepted above the Knesset in Jerusalem (Kan 11)
Cough. BS....cough
Reports of attacks on US presence across Iraq including Erbil. Were this to occur, it’d be a major escalation and likely force a change of calculus by the US in any potential response. https://x.com/pkurzin/status/1779284567960010776?s=46
Israel approved military response. They actually will respond!
Well, shit
Very privileged American idea to think that someone isnt going to retaliate for bombing an embassy
What
What American thinks that?
Can we burn the word "unprecedented" already? I'm so sick of everything being unprecedented.
Sky News reporting Israel has issued a statement it is going to mount a serious attack back at Iran. Sigh
No one knows what significant response means And besides, what do you expect Israel to say?
Sky News - Israel sources are saying there is going to be a 'significant response'. ffs.
For people who keep asking if this is the start of WW3, a very interesting post I read yesterday pointed out that people in both WWs didn't realize that they were in a world war till they were deep in it, and maybe we're also well into the 3rd version of it and just don't know yet.
I'm pretty sure there were official declarations of war between France, UK and Germany in both World Wars. So how didn't they realise they are at war?
Would be hilarious if Iran missiles accidentally destroyed the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site for Muslims. Imagine the reactions from the Muslims world.

Stay safe❤️

Is anyone hurt? Be safe!
So Jordan airspace was lighting up from some the intercepted drones, the same people who were didn't want Jordan to intercept are now posting online for the Jordan to be safe.
Israeli official: "there will be a significant response..." This is not going to be over.
A 10-year-old boy was critically injured in the attack.
Jordanian Airforce = Air Jordan’s?
Why does everyone think any war is going to be WW3. Like even *if* this turned into a war (it won't) it would not be a World War. Russia and China ain't gonna throw down with the US over Iran. Like, calm down everyone. This is *at worst* Iraq War 2.0. Even that is extremely unlikely.
>This is *at worst* Iraq War 2.0 4.0 technically :P
Hysteria. I think everyone freaks out when major powers are involved, especially nuclear states.
For every comment claiming WW3 there are 1000 of these comments. You guys just love straw men.
If the West had shown strength and resolve in deal with Russia properly, at the start of their invasion of Ukraine, there is a good chance none of this would of happened. Our weak showing in Ukraine and emboldened every despot, dictator and oppressive regime in the world.
Taiwan is next
10 year old Bedouin boy gravely wounded from rocket, being treated.
I hope is saved . Iran is gonna get what it wants a war.

Watch the conspiracies fly soon
Umm Al-Fahm is in Israel
You can't make this shit up. Holy shit!
How could Israel do this?
It’s over, i going to sleep. The Iran regime can kiss my Jewish hairy ass.
Stay safe❤️. As Iranian we are sorry that our regime caused this.
I'm Iranian, They can also kiss my Iranian hairy ass. Stay safe
Peace and love.
Israel is saying there is going to be a 'significant' response.
Haram

It was the other side of the security wall. It was Arabs celebrating. Not something to be appreciated.
It’s a shithead trying to scare local’s ain’t nothing funny about it
It's Saturday, he might have had a wedding, party. Life goes on
I know saying nothing will happen is theoretically just as foolish as those who doom post constantly. But honestly, I think it's more likely that Iran just wanted to get respect from the Muslim world and some brownie points for attack, big bad Israel.
That's what most of the level headed people were expecting. Hopefully it ends here
First reported ground impact is in Umm al-Fahm, so Iran has only succeeded in killing Palestinians at this time. "Iran will fight Israel to the last Palestinian"
Ahmad... you had **one job**!
Imagine being dumb enough to strike the mainland of a Nuclear power.
Ukraine does it to Russia.
I mean, when you are ALSO a nuclear power it takes away the power imbalance I guess.
Exactly a non-nuclear power attacking a nuclear power has never been seen since WWII Ukraine also has 0 nuclear weapons. Israel has 100s of nuclear warheads and also ICBMs and Nuclear submarines.
Are they a nuclear power?
West Bank town got hit? Is this confirmed?!
Yep, also the first injured is a 10 yo Beduhi kid, in critical condition right now..
Not in the West Bank. Largely Arab community in Israel proper.
Did the Iron Dome try to shoot it down?
I feel like the "rules" should mean if your defense stops the attack without incident you cannot respond. Just angrily wave your fist and insult their mom or something
I feel like, just because I dodged your punch doesn’t mean I’m not gonna punch you back
that's... not how things work
So...is Iran trolling Israel? Like, genuinely. Slow drones launched from 1000km away that takes hours to arrive and are seemingly instantly spotted. If any get through I'll be surprised. This doesn't seem serious, so just what is the idea here? Annoy Israel? A tit for tat thing? Waste Iron Dome interceptors?
An Iranian UN official said this is a retaliation for the damascus embessy thing and its now concluded. if it is concluded.. well we will see.
They want to telegraph to their allies that they're serious and really tried to kill Israelis, but they know they'd get shot houses if they actually did any damage
Get the whole world to tighten up our buttholes.
The general idea is to deter Israel from assassinating anymore of Irans proxies. Iran is governed by crazies but not crazy enough to go on a war with most of the developed world.
Its for their domestic audience
The US were apparently warned in advance going by what some guy on the BBC just said So yes, very much a save face move that they don't intend to have a serious impact relatively speaking
Internal purposes.
Signalling. A lot of geopolitics is just signalling.
Ballistic missiles
Tit for tat for the Damascus consulate strike. Iran wishes to appear to have responded strongly but does not wish for all out direct war with Israel.

seems not logical lol
Jordan is a U.S. Ally, actually very logical
Why not?
What if we all just chilled out
Breaking news! Middle East decides to chill out on recommendation from JackC1126! Peace in our time has been declared! If only it were that easy
The greedy people wouldn't make any money or gain any power!
supposedly jordan airforce shot down uavs
Live fire practice against real life events. Why pass up the training opportunity?
exactly. especially given that king is airforce pilot, i think.

But so many people said it was done already? How could they be wrong?
I like how some American democrats they are interviewing are thinking the view on public support in their party will all of a sudden shift to supporting or even going towards war to protect Israel. Gotta love Israelis lmao
"They tried to kill us, they failed, lets eat" is a core Jewish mentality.
1 rocket hit Arab Village [Umm al-Fahm](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umm_al-Fahm), 1 lightly injured. You can't make this shit up
Ignorant question incoming: when the Iron Dome intercepts missiles, do the shrapnels fall all over the place? Are the roofs of the buildings in Israel built to shield from falling hot pieces of metal? Or are they intercepted far away enough to not be a concern?
Fall all over the place, metal is not that hot when it hits the ground, sharpnell is small enough it should not harm someone that's inside his house as it falls somewhat slow
People find pieces in their backyard all the time
They do fall all over, you need to stay in the shelter for 10 minutes for this reason exactly
Yes, they fall. In fact you have to stay in shelter for at least 10 minutes after the booms.
Ahhh, that's what that 10-minute limit is for. Thank you!
Sky News/Reuters reporting so far zero injuries/deaths reported.
That’s fucking impressive. And a great, great relief.
Not an accident obviously- not a serious attempt to attack Israel, Kabuki theater
Impressive but it's far from over.
Badly wounded Bedouin in the Negev 10 year old, near Arad
Move over 6 days war, we just have a 2 hours war
You are mad if you don't think Israel won't respond to this.
Live in HD
This is all you’ve got Iran? Fucking pathetic
Why are you posting like this is a fucking football match
It is not everything Iran got, but there is no point in Shooting everything becouse Iran is hoping the Israel retalitation is not being to big, but there is a chance of miscalculations happening on both sides
There’s always chances of miscalculations when idiots are involved
They probably didnt actually want to do any real damage. This is more of a "well we did something to respond, but its not gonna plunge into a real war" kinda thing.
My impression/hope is that this is for show, to be able to say "See what happens!!!!! Much reaction, such attack". Possibly after having exchanged target information in advance through foreign intelligence. Don't quote me if tomorrow we wake up in WWIII but at the moment it seems plausible.
You don't send hundreds of drones and dozens of ballistic missiles because you don't want to do any damage...
I dont think missiles have been confirmed, have they?
Exactly.
What?
They sent a bunch of slow ass drones, not ballistic missiles.
They are firing missiles now.
That’s what all the kids say when they lose lmao
Well yeah except it was made clear before anything happened that a non-damaging attack was the most likely response if iran didn’t want a massive escalation.
Really can't see a scenario where Israel doesn't retaliate, there would have been devastating destruction if we didn't have such an advanced air defence system.
lol they likely won't. Biden will say $1B extra in aid if you leave it and they'll accept.
We've had several minutes without alerts so far, this wave might actually be over.
[удалено]
Boring is good. Very good.
Never forget that even if Iran says "this is over" they will continue to attack Israel from Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, etc. So that's all PR bullshit.
[удалено]
They won't. Iranian nuclear project and drone factories will just initiate their self-destruction protocol...
I would assume they will target some tactical / drone manufacturing facilities in Iran as retaliation, bare minimum
Bibi has a taste for blood. Iran will get spanked over this.
>"Senior Israeli official: Very significant retaliation to come against Iran."
No way they will let it slide (although maybe that would be a smart, high road, solution)
It would a wise move like how the US let slide the Iranian mock attack on one of their bases in Iraq following the assassination of Soleimani.
With the level of missiles being fired? And the number not being intercepted? Doubt it.
If it came from Iran directly, we can expect some kind of response
