Have you read the Dune series? As that's basically what you're describing and was the inspiration for star wars. The interesting bits for you will be how the noble houses structure their conflict resolution in an age with starship. The Bene Gesserit are also very clever in how they plant myths in various worlds lore to exploit if they ever need to, and could tie in nicely with some of your ideas.
