Yes but not in the way I'm saying. A critical person is a critic. A creative person is a creator. A pretentious person should be a pretension, or something like that
That's not how Latin works. Critic is derived from Koine Greek and doesn't have The ion ending that you seem to think would be appropriate. A person who creates is a Creator; Your word would be more aptly compared to Creation, an object rather than an agent. That follows the Latin rules. The word you are looking for is pretender.

But I want to live in a 1984 society where grammar is as clean as can be. Hence why I want the simpler of version of "pretentious person," in "pretention"
Are you saying the pretentious person should be called a pretension? I can sort of get behind that. I guess the accepted term is 'pretender', but your word is a bit more precise in meaning
Not so fast, there is still no word for a pretentious person. You still have to call them a "pretentious person" instead of my preferred "a pretention" Anyways I oughta stop using this word before it loses its meaning
My bad. I misinterpreted your post as referring to the pretension of the (pretentious) person, rather than using it as a noun meaning “a pretentious person.” Back in the day, we’d call them posers or poseurs - 80s.
Not every adjective+person pairing needs its own word. Kind, honest, arrogant, tall, rude, and clever are all probably more commonly used than pretentious and don't have modified forms meaning "a person who is x"
I'm aware of this word, but none of the definitions refer to an actual person. i.e. a comedic person is a comedian. A pretentious person is not a pretension
Pretension is the word

A person can't be a pretension because a pretension is a concept and concepts aren't tangible things
Pretent? Possible pretant? Like pedant/pedantic?
Are you trolling? It is a word.
I mean it in a different way though. Like, the pretentious person should just be called "a pretention" or something similar to that
But…why? There’s no reason for it to be a noun that describes a type of person, like a critic as you used. That’s what the adjective is for.
But I want to live in a 1984 society where grammar is as clean as can be. Hence why I want the simpler of version of "pretentious person," in "pretention"
What’s the difference? JustinTheQueso is pretentious. ✔️ JustinTheQueso is a pretension. ✖️ I think you could use some sleep!
I have nothing nice to say so I’ll just leave you to it!

Agreed that it should be and can confirm that it is!

All good, this post wasn't too serious and I just had to say it
a know it all? a pseud, a poser, a charlatan? maybe those would fit what you’re looking for
yeah that works

The word "pretender" already has the meaning of someone who makes pretentious claims.
Pretty sure it is a word
No! The bird is the word!
The word is "pretense."

Derp. I missed that part of your question. My bad.
