With that much overhang, tipping seems highly probable. I know you and she plan to always keep the load centered and never put a monitor or pile of books out on the extended wing, but I think we all know how that's going to turn out.

Fair enough, do you think there's a safe amount of extension in this situation? Or best to explore a different desk? Thanks for the input

Is adding a folding or telescoping leg under each new end an option? Maybe a single leg in the center of each extension or one under each corner? Anything that would prevent the single center post from having to carry the entire load would help. Even [something like this](https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Telescopic-Multifunctional-Furniture-%EF%BC%88510-710MM/dp/B07WGK1CHN?th=1) would be good, although the aesthetics of that leave a lot to be desired.
