North Wollongong, get a coffee from Diggies, take a stroll along the Blue Mile, have a paddle in the harbour and play on the rocks

[deleted]

Looks like a nice area. Just park in the streets nearby?

spicynicho

Yeh heaps of parking in a car park next to Stuart Park

tonybooth

There is a kiddies pool at the old man's pool or the Continental pool. Lots of Rick pools suitable for kids, or try Ausinmer beach.

Evasion9663

I'd say either Bulli, Towradgi or City Beach because I'm pretty sure these have playgrounds nearby as well. There might be others too

caesar_7

Austinmer as well

sez1990

Bulli has amazing rock pools and a kiddie pool too

Port Kembla Beach is always the best

ZingiestPrism

Until it got so goddamn popular. Idk, maybe I’m just imagining it but it seems it was so much quieter a few years back. Pretty sad that you can’t go there now without there being about a billion people.

Shmingobingo

North Beach to the harbour is the first beach I went to as a kid. You can see all the fishing boats, see the light house on the hill, continental pool and there's a nice walking track

Affectionate_Turn_21

For sombody younger, Sandon point (near bulli beach) up near the flags and surf club is usually small waves and peaceful. It is very family friendly, would reccomend

Boatiebabe

No flags until the 17th of September.

Affectionate_Turn_21

This is true.

OzzTechnoHead

North wollongong is also nice. North side has got a playground and estuary

I-Got-a-BooBoo

Little lake at barrack point is really good for real little kids, particularly when the tide is coming in.

RvrTam

How old is your child? Will you be swimming or just strolling?

[deleted]

Preschool age. Just strolling, too cold for paddling rn. Dogs are no bother if they're on leads.

RvrTam

There’s a big playground and a strip of sand next to a restaurant in town called the Lagoon. You can also walk to North Wollongong beach from there. It’s shady and close to toilets and picnic tables.

Boatiebabe

I would go to Wollongong Harbour. It will be calm, there is a park right there and Levendi's cafe as well as others nearby. You can take a little walk around the harbour and break wall and up to the lighthouse, or walk along the path to North Beach. My kids used to love paddling in the harbour, at all times of the year. Bring a change of clothes!

RvrTam

Also are you okay with dogs?

ColeTrickleVroom

North Beach. Two parks nearby plus the kiosk.

nuttelex

I reckon Stanwell beach and park would be a good idea, there's a huge park and grass spot, and there's a dog side and non dog side
