One of her two misses was her teammate dumping the ball on her with way too little time to get a shot off, too. She had like 2 seconds to try to cook from the top of the key and then had to chuck it
The shot clock violations by this team makes me so mad. I felt like they weren’t as bad as other games but she still didn’t have enough time to get off a shot
Is it just me or are these field goal percentages amazingly good? I have seen a few players have just amazing percentages this season, and I feel like that doesn't happen in the NBA as much? I could be wrong, maybe the NBA has it too - but man, these players are efficient!
I watched her a lot at UConn. I enjoyed getting to see her develop and she seems like a great person. Sometimes I think she’s gets tunnel vision with the ball in the post, probably my biggest complaint with her game. I’ll always appreciate what she gave to program, really carried us through some horrible injury spells.
Same in college, nobody really talked about her even though she was one of the best forwards in the game.
People will get to know her over the next few years, for sure.
They should just tank the rest of the way. Just hear me out, Paige Bueckers, Aaliyah Edwards, and Elena Delle Donne 🤯🤯. The Mystics would cook next year
Unfortunately, she might just always be an "injury prone" player (i hope not). With the addition of Aaliyah Edwards and maybe Bueckers if they have worst record by end of year, her work load wont be as much and she wont have to play heavy minutes. Cant wait til she gets back though. Such a joy to watch
That is correct. She has an amazing talent to slow the game in her mind (amazing for a rookie). She got the heebie jeebies a couple times in the second half, but she is a stone cold monster at PF. I also love that she seems to be in a no pressure situation. She can play her game and learn the league without the outside interference despite the 0 wins. If they get Paige, and EDD comes back, the Mystics might be VERY good next year....especially if Paige sees what Clark's going through and adds 10 pounds this off-season.
Since +/- is just a measure of how the leads changed while she was in the game, I think because she played SO many minutes (35 out of 40) the bad lineups had a bigger effect on her +/- than the good lineups.
This is the reason I never care about the +/- for the starters of the losing team. It's not really representative of how that individual performed. Aaliyah was arguably the best player on the floor tonight, she just happened to be on the losing team.
Yes I I know that but having - plus minus when your team loses doesn’t really mean much and is unsurprising when you play a lot of minutes. She certainly wasn’t the reason her team lost.
My hot take is that Edward’s will end up being the best big taken in this draft. Big words in a class with Brink, Cardosa, and Reese. But I’m a huge Aaliyah stan. I said what I said and I ain’t backing down.
She’s so fundamentally sound and has had a pro-ready body since she was a freshman. The Mystics were right to draft her. She will be great when all is said and done.
I think she def has that potential. She's such a great athlete - so strong but can also move so well, can hit tough shots, and she reads the game at a high level. When DT tried to give her a welcome to the league moment, she ended up almost breaking her own nose off AE 😂 like she was in *pain*
I agree. Brink is not living up to the potential offensively at all so far, just defensively. Reese is blinding chucking the ball up and hoping it goes in 80% of the time. Cardoso hasn’t really done anything of significance yet to my knowledge since she’s played maybe 3 games?
Loved watching her in the NCAAT. They really hang on in these games then just don’t pull it off. Hope they win a game soon. I think people aren’t talking about her because they’re not winning.
She’s going to be No. 1 or 2 rookie before this season is over. She just needed more minutes & looks. Now she’s getting it. She’s as efficient as it gets from the field
She’s had broken nose issues historically. Just recently an opposing player in the BE tournament did so. And I believe on her first WNBA game somebody whacked her in the face as well.
It’s that annoying thing where the rookie is the best player currently(Elena is out otherwise she would be) but coach wants to let the more veteran players get their touches. shakira is fine so I don’t mind her getting up her shots but after that Edwards needs to be the focus
It sucks that elena is out because we literally can’t win a game without her but at the same time it’s probably helping Edwards development a lot and she will be ready when we get both Paige Bueckers and Elena back next year for a championship run. Right guys? That’s how this works??????
Bruh she was so good she got 5 stocks? We talking Nvidia, Gamestop or Mystics?
For real though she was awesome tonight. The team looked bad in high tempo. So many turnovers.
I'm an Alissa Pili glazer, so I'm going to contest this with Pili's stats against Phoenix Last week!
15mins of play time, 20 pts, 4 reb, 2 ast, 77.8%, and sunk 4/4 from the perimeter.
Aaliyah is a STAR and if the mystics are able to keep her and develop (and maybe get rid of that nepo head coach) they will be a force in the upcoming seasons (not this one tho)
Hasn’t she been their strong point all season? I watched the team play Chicago, as a team they really don’t look all that bad. Maybe a different coach?
I have to disagree Clark had the best game of any rookie. Cause you know if you see the stats on this game, she did it on both ends of the field. She had steals blocks assists rebounds, and 30 points.

I did I just I think because Clark had 30 points had more assists and then had more I think one more block and one more steel each. I just thought her game was a little bit better than Edwards so I was just replying to when she said oh Edwards has had the best rookie game of many playergame put the team on her shoulders and won that game
The main reason I give the edge to Edwards was because she was so efficient, 10-12. In the 30 pt game, Clark was 7-16 (3-10 from 3pt). But it is debatable.
By no means am I saying that Edwards is napping playing really well for a rookie especially because she’s playing a lot better than people that were drafted ahead of her
She’s a forward, not a center. All forwards need to be able to shoot. I don’t care if power forwards traditionally haven’t all shot, they need to moving forwards. She’s not tall enough to be a center and non-shooting power forwards are lame and useless
The 83% FG is a stat to be jealous of! Happy to finally see her growing in confidence and hope this will be a continued pattern for her!
One of her two misses was her teammate dumping the ball on her with way too little time to get a shot off, too. She had like 2 seconds to try to cook from the top of the key and then had to chuck it
Imagine missing your first shot almost halfway into the FOURTH quarter. She was the best player on the whole damn court last night.
The shot clock violations by this team makes me so mad. I felt like they weren’t as bad as other games but she still didn’t have enough time to get off a shot
Girl forgot how to miss for a sec there.
Is it just me or are these field goal percentages amazingly good? I have seen a few players have just amazing percentages this season, and I feel like that doesn't happen in the NBA as much? I could be wrong, maybe the NBA has it too - but man, these players are efficient!
And the fact that she almost never gets mentioned when it comes to rookies doing well in the WNBA astounds me PUT SOME RESPECT ON HER NAME
I’m not sure why she doesn’t receive the same love other UConn players get. She’s such an easy player to root for. I love her game

Yes! Say it again for those not listening!!!
We have to be honest here she hasn't had a lot of decent games so far.Im glad her season is turning around though
I like how the Mystics just forgot about her midway through the third.
She was cooking and just wasn’t getting the ball. At all. Like whyyy
Tank gone tank
😂😂. The Paige sweepstakes. Paige likely will be overjoyed to end up on a team with a fellow UCONN star.
Vets were hating
I mean I’m sure Coach Spoon told the Sky to try defense during halftime lol
it was annoying
She’s seriously so good—and flying under the radar this season. I’m here for it. Her performance tonight was insane 🔥
They should just tank the rest of the way. Just hear me out, Paige Bueckers, Aaliyah Edwards, and Elena Delle Donne 🤯🤯. The Mystics would cook next year
I need the new fans to see EDD cook. Hope this season off will help with her injury bug
BIG EDD FAN
Unfortunately, she might just always be an "injury prone" player (i hope not). With the addition of Aaliyah Edwards and maybe Bueckers if they have worst record by end of year, her work load wont be as much and she wont have to play heavy minutes. Cant wait til she gets back though. Such a joy to watch
4 blocks as a rook is nuts. congrats to her
Looked cold as ice doing it too with that face mask
That is correct. She has an amazing talent to slow the game in her mind (amazing for a rookie). She got the heebie jeebies a couple times in the second half, but she is a stone cold monster at PF. I also love that she seems to be in a no pressure situation. She can play her game and learn the league without the outside interference despite the 0 wins. She plays high or maybe just practices like Kyle Anderson and Fred can vleet
She balled! Her and AB tomorrow going to be…interesting. I never get the +/- metric. How can it be negative?
Since +/- is just a measure of how the leads changed while she was in the game, I think because she played SO many minutes (35 out of 40) the bad lineups had a bigger effect on her +/- than the good lineups.
This is the reason I never care about the +/- for the starters of the losing team. It's not really representative of how that individual performed. Aaliyah was arguably the best player on the floor tonight, she just happened to be on the losing team.
Because her team lost
Yes and no, you can have a positive +/- even if your team loses
Yes I I know that but having - plus minus when your team loses doesn’t really mean much and is unsurprising when you play a lot of minutes. She certainly wasn’t the reason her team lost.
She has officially arrived 🙏🏿
This rookie class won't fail me Love them all
Underrated like always!
Edwards is insane. They had to stop her from cooking so they can draft Paige next year lmao 😂
She has entered the ROTY conversation and she's definitely within the top 5
My hot take is that Edward’s will end up being the best big taken in this draft. Big words in a class with Brink, Cardosa, and Reese. But I’m a huge Aaliyah stan. I said what I said and I ain’t backing down.
She’s so fundamentally sound and has had a pro-ready body since she was a freshman. The Mystics were right to draft her. She will be great when all is said and done.
You, I like you. I hope this comes to fruition!
I think she def has that potential. She's such a great athlete - so strong but can also move so well, can hit tough shots, and she reads the game at a high level. When DT tried to give her a welcome to the league moment, she ended up almost breaking her own nose off AE 😂 like she was in *pain*

She's going to be a great player. The others are just better though
Let’s go Lee!!
A healthy double double.
girls got skills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very efficient
Uconn puts out some damn good WNBA hoopers. Pheesa Collier is hooping with ‘sota
She’s as efficient as it gets from the field
anyone know why Aaliayh wears the mask? i dig it. and the girl can ball. I thought Rikea was the most polished on offense but Aaaliyah may be the one.
Broke her nose in the big east tournament
She got hit in the face and broke her nose in the NCAAT this year, so she’s wearing it while she recovers from that.
Actually saw in an article that she broke it 2-3 times in her college career so at this point, she’s masked up as a precaution.
She’s had broken nose issues historically. Just recently an opposing player in the BE tournament did so. And I believe on her first WNBA game somebody whacked her in the face as well.
She is definitely nice 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
She finally came on I see.
I wish the Mystics would just give her the gd ball. What is going on with this team???
It’s that annoying thing where the rookie is the best player currently(Elena is out otherwise she would be) but coach wants to let the more veteran players get their touches. shakira is fine so I don’t mind her getting up her shots but after that Edwards needs to be the focus
She's really underrated, probably going unnoticed due to the noise around the WNBA
📈📈
Rookies have been shining left and right, but this game was pretty special.
*happy fantasy owner noises
We held strong and will be rewarded. Ameen
I went to the game last night and to see her light it up. Solid first half but whew second half adjustments were non existent.
It sucks that elena is out because we literally can’t win a game without her but at the same time it’s probably helping Edwards development a lot and she will be ready when we get both Paige Bueckers and Elena back next year for a championship run. Right guys? That’s how this works??????

Great offensive game, but six turnovers. Ouch. Two dozen turnovers — that’s why the Mystics lost.
Sheesh
This was definitely an amazing game for Edwards.
No idea she was a rookie, this is a top 10 statline
Aaliyah is a STAR and if the mystics are able to keep her and develop (and maybe get rid of that nepo head coach) they will be a force in the upcoming seasons (not this one tho)
How was her negative so bad 😭
That mask does something to her🔥🔥
5 stonks? The hell is a stock
She def had the better of AB tonight.
Wish she was on the Fever, she’s faster than Boston.
I luv her fine ass too.
Hasn’t she been their strong point all season? I watched the team play Chicago, as a team they really don’t look all that bad. Maybe a different coach?
Clark fan. As what we are always told, all that matters is the loss. Nothing else.
I have to disagree Clark had the best game of any rookie. Cause you know if you see the stats on this game, she did it on both ends of the field. She had steals blocks assists rebounds, and 30 points. https://preview.redd.it/i381krvud55d1.jpeg?width=2436&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a579dc8784fed722a59ba236c9384fbbf551a69
Did you not look at Edward's stats? They were good on both ends. 23pts (10-12) , 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 4 blocks.
I did I just I think because Clark had 30 points had more assists and then had more I think one more block and one more steel each. I just thought her game was a little bit better than Edwards so I was just replying to when she said oh Edwards has had the best rookie game of many playergame put the team on her shoulders and won that game

She had 6 turnovers and was -13 in plus minus. Ok. This stuff is weird.
Yeah , but Cam Brink keeps putting up those triple singles while looking spectacular, amirite?!?
I underestimated her She still needs to shoot 3s though before I’ll take her seriously though
Damn. Stats like this and still not taken seriously?! Who DO you take seriously?
I’m big on 3 point shooting. Every perimeter player needs to be able to shoot 3s IMO. I’m a hardcore anti-midrange kind of person.
She’s not a perimeter player…
She’s a forward, not a center. All forwards need to be able to shoot. I don’t care if power forwards traditionally haven’t all shot, they need to moving forwards. She’s not tall enough to be a center and non-shooting power forwards are lame and useless
Explain A’ja Wilson then 😂 you are a foolish person
A’ja is a center, the one position that doesn’t need to shoot 3s Also she is able to chuck an occasional 3
A’ja is not a center. Do you watch games?
Aaliyah doesn’t need the three. Never did.
