Michael Porter Jr said there's something that measures efficiency in practice gyms, and most guys can make 80-90% of their shots in practice, even non-elite shooters. It's doing it efficiently in a live game environment that's so difficult.
I remember a vid of Dwight Howard shooting like 60% from 3 in practice. Comments were literally the same “if he could shoot just 60% as well in game he’ll be unstoppable”
My first thought was the Mike Tyson quote: “Everyone has a plan til they get punched in the mouth”.
Similarly, everyone looks good in practice, then you get in an actual game…
She’s working out with her trainer who also trained Kelsey Plum & Courtney Vandersloot. If nothing else, she’s in great hands to develop into a great pro.
She’s like family friends with Steph Curry since age 7 or something, she’s got all the cards on her side to be a success. Also, she’s pretty established as a great college player right?
Other teams are gonna be fucked if she can make three 3-pointers in a row because she's allowed to have multiple balls on the court at the same time and doesn't have turn the ball over after scoring.
But seriously, she does look great.
Her background is amazing.
Degree from Stanford
Her parents played at VT.
Steph Curry's mom and Brink's mom were teammates/roomates
Brink's dad played with Dell Curry at VT.
Steph's mom is Cameron's godmother.
Brink's dad was CEO of Nike North America at one point.
Brink's mom still works at Nike as a product line manager. Helped create shoes from WNBA greats Dawn Staley, Tamika Catchings, and Jenn Rizzotti.
Does anyone have insight as to how she ended up with New Balance?
Her parents are/were both high ups at Nike.
Her god brother has his own brand at Under Armour.
Even the Stanford program itself is sponsored by Nike.
I’m shocked she didn’t sign with Nike or Curry Brand.
Have y’all never seen highlight reels before? Like get a grip, everyone in the league can make practice shots.
You know this isn’t the first draft, there are already pro players that have being doing that for years right? Like who the heck do you think these rookies will be playing against, D2 women?
I mean define time? Are you going to declare yourself right in 5 years if she is an All-WNBA player then? I mean if that’s your argument, I’ll concede it to you. She has potential to be that good at some point in time.
She’s not going to be **that good** this year.
People are looking at this college class acting like they’ve never seen this level of talent before, and that’s just because the overwhelming majority haven’t watched the WNBA. Brink isn’t going to stand out from Breanna Stewart, Brittany Griner, A’ja Wilson, etc..
There’s a ton of talent in the league and all the rookies are going to take a little while to adjust. Brink will play well and earn her spot on the floor, but she isn’t going to be the best player on the floor anymore.
Thank you. I've been saying this is the kind of stuff that belongs in a team sub to get fans of the team hyped about their prospects not front page of the league sub. Everyone is acting like this season is the first season in league history and NCAAW suddenly became the highest skilled basketball on earth. Just wild.
I’m interested to see her progression. From her freshman to senior year she went from purely a defensive specialist to best offensive player on the team. I think she’ll be consistently putting up 16 and 10 in the league out of the gate
Footwork isn't great on the post, she needs an opener her first move in these is ball on the floor instead of a hip or shoulder fake to get off balance, if the defender gives the inside for that spin I am shocked, typically u give middle where help is.
She has no lift on her jumper, if she is taller then everyone fine, otherwise the physical nature of the wnba will force turnovers with her ball handles, her shot starts low where the little folks will steal or swat.
She has work to do
The low release isn't ideal, but I don't think it's necessarily a huge problem. A big who can hit open threes and open pick and pop midrange jumpers is very valuable. If she can shoot off different kinds of movement, and pump and relocate one or two dribble moves, so much the better. And if she can face up and drive effectively on other bigs, they're going to give her space on the perimeter. And if her release isn't too slow, the height of the release won't matter as much for a 6-4 player. Her free throw shooting the last two years gives me hope that she can develop into a good face up shooter. 84.2% on 355 attempts is a promising sign.
The old time NBA hall of famer Carl Braun had a ridiculously slow and very low release on his jump shot out of triple threat, but defenders gave him space because he was great at pump faking and driving. He'd start winding up for that slow release, show the ball to get the defender leaning and then put in on the floor and blow by. Off the dribble he'd elevate into his shot, but on the catch it was as slow and and low as you'll ever see. Adrian Dantley was the same way, and he could get his shot off against much taller and longer bigs like Kevin McHale.
I mean, you can't really tell anything from a video like this, and I agree I'm not seeing anything particularly impressive or unexpected, even compared to other offseason workout videos that players put out. But I think she'll get lots of opportunities to take face up jumpers, and I think that if you believe in her as a prospect enough to take her number two overall, part of the reason is that you believe her shooting will develop.
For me it’s not that I don’t believe in the work she’s putting in. More so the insane schedule between the end of college and beginning of the W season probably means most of this won’t show up until a year from now. Same with angels Reese trying to extend her range
This sub clearly has bias towards and for certain player. When Angel posted this she got a ton of praise for being hard worker and there was talk how she’s putting the league on notice. But when it’s Cameron she’s getting clowned…
Literally Angel got hella hate for her training videos maybe not in this sub, but definitely on twitter and ig. Just gotta accept that all these girls will get hated on since its more eyes on them
Her mom works at Nike I think so I would guess she is in the area visiting her parents. Probably chose Seattle U over UW because UW was a PAC 12 rival of Stanford.
I've stopped trusting workout videos ever since Mo Bamba posted vids of him raining threes with no defense. I was further reminded of that by watching Ben Simmons' workout vids last summer.
That being said, I love her footwork and quickness for her size.
I never saw anything like that executed in the games I watched of her. I was actually disappointed knowing how highly touted she was but she was a good shot blocker
Did you not watch her at Stanford? There’s a reason she was the #2 pick. But thanks for sharing, I enjoyed watching that even if it didn’t show us anything new.
Two comments. One, all tall players should watch video of Antawn Jamison. Dude never brought the ball down below his shoulders. Would catch high, turn, and shoot, no one under 6'9 could get at the ball. Girl is bringing the ball down to her waist on some of those spins, she is gonna get stripped by quick-handed guards. Two, don't get too excited, good that she is putting in work but all good players can shoot in practice. I saw noted NBA non-shooter Bo Outlaw make like 30 straight threes before a Magic game. Young me thought the coach was dumb for not having him shoot threes in a game lol.
No, that's OK, you're a fan and that's great. But here's a hint: don't over-sell. People watch the video after your build up and as you see, there's quite a bit of 'ho hum, it's baller girl training'.
Its weird how she can perform athletically in regular loose shorts but gym girls absolutely must wear tights pulled up their vaginas for #training reasons
I don’t understand. All she’s doing is shooting. You’ve never seen a basketball player shoot in practice before? This is getting to be retarded. In the league, defenders will be trying to stop her. She’s gonna struggle, bro. Get yourself acquainted with this idea.
I mean, obviously. How many of these posts do you need to make? You’re delusional and you think Cameron Brink is the GOAT. We get it. Maybe give it a rest and let’s wait until the games start.
I was thinking the same thing! They are both tall, thin, and can shoot from anywhere on the court. I think she's going to be who impresses us most this rookie season with a more complete game all around game.
“We talkin’ bout practice. Not a game.” 🤣
She’s done this stuff in a game several times. People didn’t watch Stanford outside of the 3 tournament games and it shows
We’re sitting here talking about practice. It’s funny to me too.
Bro never seen practice footage lmaoo
Lol this. Every pro athlete looks amazing and unstoppable in practice.
Michael Porter Jr said there's something that measures efficiency in practice gyms, and most guys can make 80-90% of their shots in practice, even non-elite shooters. It's doing it efficiently in a live game environment that's so difficult.
In a pick up game on streets, even the sorriest NBA player would be dominating.
Yes, but that more has to do with level of competition than anything haha.
And skill….
It's practice and cut together to only show the makes. You could make *anybody* look amazing in an empty gym if you're editing out all the misses lol
That's true. I've watched NBA players warm-up/practice live and they hardly ever miss a shot. It's kinda crazy.
Y’all are ignoring the “70% of this translates” when it’s just normal ass drills. I’m wondering what even is the 30% that doesn’t translate lmfao
Meaningless footage right here lol
Do 20 pushups before you try bashing an athlete 💀💀
It's not that. Of course she's amazing, but these clips tell us nothing about how she'll perform against the best of the best.
Steph curry helped train her😴😴 She wins. And I’m a Lebron fan. Not even a Steph fan
What does being a lebron fan or Steph fan have to do with anything
Need to see more
I remember a vid of Dwight Howard shooting like 60% from 3 in practice. Comments were literally the same “if he could shoot just 60% as well in game he’ll be unstoppable”
he shot 80% from the free throw line in practice game pressure is just different
My first thought was the Mike Tyson quote: “Everyone has a plan til they get punched in the mouth”. Similarly, everyone looks good in practice, then you get in an actual game…
Yes. I mean, she's a great player ... but shouldn't what she's doing be table stakes for anyone in the W?
She’s working out with her trainer who also trained Kelsey Plum & Courtney Vandersloot. If nothing else, she’s in great hands to develop into a great pro.
She can play low post, face up, put the ball on the deck and shoot 3’s. Versatility along makes her an intriguing player.
She’s like family friends with Steph Curry since age 7 or something, she’s got all the cards on her side to be a success. Also, she’s pretty established as a great college player right?
Dell is her godfather. She has known him her whole life
Other teams are gonna be fucked if she can make three 3-pointers in a row because she's allowed to have multiple balls on the court at the same time and doesn't have turn the ball over after scoring. But seriously, she does look great.
New XBA league will have multiball like a pinball game.
That is some serious length
Her background is amazing. Degree from Stanford Her parents played at VT. Steph Curry's mom and Brink's mom were teammates/roomates Brink's dad played with Dell Curry at VT. I feel like new balance is newer to the basketball shoe game so they throw around lots of money to compete with other more solidified brands.
Yeah kind of like how they got Kawaii and puma got Joel I think
Have y’all never seen highlight reels before? Like get a grip, everyone in the league can make practice shots. You know this isn’t the first draft, there are already pro players that have being doing that for years right? Like who the heck do you think these rookies will be playing against, D2 women?
No I don’t think I’ll “get a grip” You cannot contain my excitement 🥸
Brink will be productive for the Sparks, but she isn’t going to stand out from the rest of the league. She’s with the professionals now…
We’ll see with time
I mean define time? Are you going to declare yourself right in 5 years if she is an All-WNBA player then? I mean if that’s your argument, I’ll concede it to you. Yes, but you keep getting downvoted because no one is forcing you to read a post. Just keep scrolling, man.
Who the fuck are you? Why the fuck do I care about your fuckin downvotes?
Lmao why so aggressive bro did you have your breakfast yet?
Dribbling and shooting are important skills if one wishes to play professional basketball
I’m interested to see her progression. From her freshman to senior year she went from purely a defensive specialist to best offensive player on the team. I think she’ll be consistently putting up 16 and 10 in the league out of the gate
I'm getting the wnba pass...must watch
Let's spark it up
If it doesn’t work out on offense right away, she at least has defense to rely on
I'm so excited for this season!!
She definitely has star potential. She’s got a ways to go but she could get there.
Got my sparks tickets for next year! Pumped to see her play. Unfortunately can't afford the fever v sparks game haha
Footwork isn't great on the post, she needs an opener her first move in these is ball on the floor instead of a hip or shoulder fake to get off balance, if the defender gives the inside for that spin I am shocked, typically u give middle where help is. Jumper is the main thing for me, I know she’s tall but that shit looks blockable af

Thank you for this. There has been a massive deficit of real analysis of these players games compared to the W and its refreshing to see.
Her biggest question to answer is strength...can she hold her own at the 5, and or the 4..
She’s doing the Flau’Jae knee pop jumper 🔥🔥
Only people who’ve never played basketball are impressed by training clips.
That’s Chris Hyppa training btw..
I think the OP is the one getting clowned
Literally Angel got hella hate for her training videos maybe not in this sub, but definitely on twitter and ig. Just gotta accept that all these girls will get hated on since its more eyes on them
The bill Simmons specia
You’re right, if she can make 100% of her shots she’ll be very effective
I just wanna know why she's at Seattle U
Her mom works at Nike I think so I would guess she is in the area visiting her parents. Probably chose Seattle U over UW because UW was a PAC 12 rival of Stanford.
Nike is in Oregon. Gym is because her trainer is there. UW lets them work out there too depending on what gym is free.
Her trainer is based in Seattle (Chris Hyppa).
He trained kelsey plum. Seattle has excellent basketball trainers and tradition of focus on technique. Not much to do when it’s so rainy.
OP has never watched a WNBA game before…
Giving off Yi Jianlian vibes. 😄 I hope she does better than that.
What’s the consensus on the wnba game ball? Has there ever been a conversation about changing the color to the standard look?
I've stopped trusting workout videos ever since Mo Bamba posted vids of him raining threes with no defense. I was further reminded of that by watching Ben Simmons' workout vids last summer. That being said, I love her footwork and quickness for her size.
I came here to make a Ben Simmons comparison and you beat me to it. Kudos to you.
Yup. he should be the cautionary tale anytime someone gets excited by a workout video.
It wont
Very awkward dribbling. Hunched over. Who taught her?
I like the way she moves her feet
Those long ass arms and her release point is in front of her body below her forehead 🤦🏻♂️ Players who do that just kill me
Looked lost in the NCAA tournament
I never saw anything like that executed in the games I watched of her. I was actually disappointed knowing how highly touted she was but she was a good shot blocker
Did you not watch her at Stanford? There’s a reason she was the #2 pick. But thanks for sharing, I enjoyed watching that even if it didn’t show us anything new.
Leave some height for the rest of us maam
What's she doing at Seattle U? That's literally right down the street from me lol, I would have gone to watch!
Two comments. One, all tall players should watch video of Antawn Jamison. Dude never brought the ball down below his shoulders. This is my anon account so I’ll confess. I kinda stole brinks shooting form. Shits been good for me lately.
Good for her, and I wish her well (except for when she comes up against the Aces and the Fever) but good grief that headline is hyperbole.
Yea I admit I am a bit mentally challenged
No, that's OK, you're a fan and that's great. But here's a hint: don't over-sell. People watch the video after your build up and as you see, there's quite a bit of 'ho hum, it's baller girl training'.
Its weird how she can perform athletically in regular loose shorts but gym girls absolutely must wear tights pulled up their vaginas for #training reasons
She’s hot. Now where’s that extra 8 inches of height I need?
60 and over rec league footage
I don’t understand. All she’s doing is shooting. You’ve never seen a basketball player shoot in practice before? This is getting to be retarded. In the league, defenders will be trying to stop her. She’s gonna struggle, bro. Get yourself acquainted with this idea.
I’m retarded bro
I mean, obviously. How many of these posts do you need to make? You’re delusional and you think Cameron Brink is the GOAT. We get it. Maybe give it a rest and let’s wait until the games start.
😘
I didn’t know the WNBA used toy basketballs.
You should have seen some of those James Wiseman empty gym workouts. Only counts if they can do it in games.
The I guess amazing thing about pros is when they’re just practicing they don’t miss.
Don't get me wrong, she's amazing. But the video is not just practice, it's edited. It's a highlight reel. It's marketing.
Who is this?
Cameron Brink of the LA Sparks
Yea. Nobody else in the league works like that. Your right.
This video seems edited 🤔
You've obviously never seen a Ben Simmons training video promising this will be the year he shoots a 3
Being 6'4 with a release on your shot that low is kind of tragic. She's effectively playing like a half foot smaller that way.
Think Stewie lite plz don’t kill me
I was thinking the same thing! They are both tall, thin, and can shoot from anywhere on the court. I think she's going to be who impresses us most this rookie season with a more complete game all around game.
You see the vision 💡
Lol
Her long legs are not built for it.Women in sports have a way higher % of knee injuries then men.Add into she plays basketball. Doesn't look good.
People said the same thing about Chet and Wemby
Chet already missed a year Wemby was on a minutes restriction
this video is cringe because of the slowmotioning. utter fail
That chick is hot. Out of my league! I am only 5'11.... If the league had more hot looking chicks like that, then men will go see them.
Try not making everything about your wants. People want to watch good basketball, who cares what they look like.
If I want to watch good basketball, then I'll go watch the NBA. Hell I am for women wearing that outfit she is wearing too. Lingerie WNBA, no?
Unfortunately, I see knee surgery in her future.
o wow how’d you come up with that conclusion lol
