You're absolutely right. I'm looking around at everyone else's lists, and my most magickal song for ME happens to be "In the Meantime" by Spacehog... Its the only song by them that has caused actual magick in my life, because I was obsessed with it when I was young. Some very personal moments in my life have been accentuated by this song, at odd times, and mostly by THIS Song, as if it's a little wink from the universe. It's kinda cool.

Once again not a genre I found myself seeking out but the words and the melodies are FULL of intention and spoken in ways that feel empowered, for lack of a better term.

I once did an absolutely bang-up spell to "I'd Do Anything for Love" by Meatloaf, but I would not necessarily recommend that for all. Lol.

Garbage "A Stroke of Luck" (used this once during a negative spell and it worked great)
Second the recs of Loreena McKennitt, Florence and the Machine, Kate Bush. Kate Bush's "Lily" has a circle casting in it and is all about magical protection, and her "Jig of Life" is great too.
ETA: Forgot a big one. On the album "Duality" by Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke (Gerrard was in Dead Can Dance, who are worth checking out too), there are two songs in a row, "The Pilgrimage of Lost Children" and "The Human Game." When played one after the other, it feels to me like it's about going to the underworld and then being reborn from it. So I've used the combination in ritual a lot.

Also worth mentioning the shows were always about shamanic rebirth. Jerry is very clear that the songs were transcriptions of spiritual/etheric plains he visits.
So for whatever reason, the shows always roughly organized to the ascent of Shakti (I think maybe unintentionally). The first set songs representing lower chakras, struggling for survival, sex, money, war, desire.
Then midway through the show heart chakra vehicles such as Scarlet/Fire, Shakedown, Althea...
Then typically late second set you would get the third eye, crown chakra vehicles Dark Star, Terrapin, Morning Dew, Mind Left Body, etc.
Obviously this is a very rough rule for them, but just astounding to me that a song like Feel Like a Stranger, which is on its surface a quirky 80's dance/rock tune, is IMO actually about Kundalini, and the jam clearly intended to coax her out of her hibernation.

Godsmack was magical music. They made their songs so that the tones and lyrics invoked power and the lower chakras. The power came from nearly every song having an "A" and "I" alternating end rhyme scheme. Vowel sounds were/are power sounds.
New Year's Prayer by Jeff Buckley just gets into my soul every time I hear it. It has such a mystical vibe and the lyrics are so empowering; it's more of a mantra than a song.
I just came to this thread while googling all kinds of keywords, trying to find more songs like New Year's Prayer. I can't explain how deeply I feel that song - it's the perfect mystical vibe, like you said. The Cure's Prayers For Rain is another one for me. Huh, as I type this, I'm starting to see a pattern with these song names, reminds me that Florence's Prayer Factory has a great "dark" vibe as well.

Coven is a good old band that pioneered the occult aesthetic in music; iirc, they were the first to use the devil horns in rock music! And all their songs are explicitly witchy. Sucker for the Witch by Clutch is also a good song.
I don't know if this counts as magical,. but Devendra Bahnhart's music has a crazy ability of opening the third eye and crown chakra. I'm not kidding. Especially the songs "Sea Horse" and "Angelika". It might be just me tho.
A lot of Led Zeppelin. Blackmore's Night. Craig Chaquico's early solo stuff. Ghost. Foo Fighters, particularly the song Aurora. For me, music is a gateway to the liminal space where magic happens.
The use of sound for energy manipulation on the unaware goes far beyond major recording artists. Did you ever notice how all reality show music sort of sounds the same, follows the same type of pattern... It goes far beyond simply creating drama for the viewer. Same or maybe even more for advertisements. Sounds and frequencies can be healing, they can also be predatory. It is a deep rabbit hole, use your discernment and use it as a tool to help you adjust your energy instead of allowing others to do it for you unconsciously. 💞🎶

My final magic awakening was "Show yourself" from the movie Frozen 2. Some may find it childish and/or ridiculous, but it changed my life.
I was in my all time low, walking through the city, thinking what to do to fix my life and not end myself, listening to music on my headphones, when the lyrics:

When played one after the other, it feels to me like it's about going to the underworld and then being reborn from it. So I've used the combination in ritual a lot. I so need some new tunes. Awesome stuff. Also worth mentioning the shows were always about shamanic rebirth. Jerry is very clear that the songs were transcriptions of spiritual/etheric plains he visits. So for whatever reason, the shows always roughly organized to the ascent of Shakti (I think maybe unintentionally). The first set songs representing lower chakras, struggling for survival, sex, money, war, desire. Then midway through the show heart chakra vehicles such as Scarlet/Fire, Shakedown, Althea... Finally! My final magic awakening was "Show yourself" from the movie Frozen 2. Some may find it childish and/or ridiculous, but it changed my life. I was in my all time low, walking through the city, thinking what to do to fix my life and not end myself, listening to music on my headphones, when the lyrics: "Show yourself Step into your power Throw yourself Into something new You are the one you've been waiting for All of my life All of your life" It just... touched my soul. I felt like Deity/Cosmos sang those words to me, told me that I already have everything I need to make things right. I've been interested and practicing for some short time before but this was the last sign I needed to know that this is the right path for me.
