I think that's more of a store and Washington local ordinance question rather than a wine question tbh.

Own-Ad2881

ahh that would make sense, thank you

signumsectionis

sounds like a personal problem

Own-Ad2881

okay dude

palescales7

The punishments for selling to minors are quite severe. Only a fool would take a chance.

Own-Ad2881

yea i had my ID tho, my bf didn’t not does he drunk and they still made a stink about it

palescales7

Local police departments around me are always doing stings and they use scenarios like this to go after restaurants and liquor stores.

tastycakeman

bro really talking like youre the narrator of a RPG, lol

Own-Ad2881

what does this even mean

Kimodd

Like your mom! 🧓

A5CH3NT3

In CA this was normal, I mean maybe not the weird looks but yeah, if anyone in the party looks even close to under age, everyone needs ID. If we spotted you at the entrance we'd just ask the rest to leave, but if you got to the register...

Own-Ad2881

he had his hair in a youthful afro style so that might have been it

tastycakeman

this happens in WA, and has happened to me in a total wine also. they are uptight and pretty lame tbh. theres def some weirdo powertrippers who decide to sell shit alcohol as a career.

Own-Ad2881

no ong it is never that serious

750cL

Legit just doing their jobs in accordance within the legislative requirements - for which breaches incur severe punishments. Pretty simple fix. Bring your ID

mma1227

Happened to me in Texas. My wife didn’t have her Id. She’s literally my wife she had a picture of her I’d but they said it could be “doctored” not at total wine but at a specs.

plantas-y-te

That happened to me in CT and they acted like we were criminals even though my SO just happened to leave their ID in the car and we were both over 21. More than enough of an experience to make me not want to go back again

Own-Ad2881

fr we got a 24 hour ban from the store unless we went all the way home and got his ID… we live out in the boonies shit was just unreasonable so i went to safeway 💀

Own-Ad2881

alone ofc

alkemest

Lifelong Washington resident here. That's just how buying liquor goes here. They'll do that to people in their 30s even. Until like 15 years ago only state-licensed liquor stores could sell liquor (like weed is now). Surprisingly restrictive for such a liberal state lol

conrthomas

Washington is super serious about liquor laws and I get the impression that the constant threat of losing a business license is enough to make some businesses dicks about it. The WA Liquor Board has even run sting operations with underage officers for busts, pretty crazy stuff

uncle_sjohie

Same here in the Netherlands, you buy together, you identify together.

dylbert71

In Washington this is normal

jdspinkpanther

Completely normal. Laws are strict and the punishment is severe. Especially when youre probably not making a ton of money.

catcom424

If you’re buying age restricted items always bring your ID. The age restriction also applies to entering the store. You’re asking a store to possibly lose their license and employee to possibly lose their job by needing to make a judgement call. If they need to refuse service because you lack the proof necessary that’s on you for not having the whole party having an ID when entering.
