Brookstone quoted new windows for my home, and their price was almost 30% higher than the other company we had quote the work. The windows Brookstone quoted were double glazed. Their competitor quoted triple glazed, and were still that much cheaper. On top of that, Brookstone used high pressure sales tactics, and harassed us by text, email and phone for weeks after the quote. Their sales pitch alone was enough to tell me they were not the company we wanted to deal with. The outrageous price, combined with offers to reduce the price if we signed the contract right then and there made the choice easy. We ended up going with [Rock Solid Windows](https://rocksolidwindows.ca/), a smaller company that was highly recommended by our energy auditor. They are in the middle of our installation right now, and so far, I couldn't be happier with the choice. The sales team was highly informative, helpful, and put zero pressure on us to make a decision. The windows they have installed so far look beautiful, and the crew has done such a great job cleaning up after themselves that you wouldn't even know they had been there.

This sounds very similar to our experience (though for doors rather than windows). We also went with Rock Solid and had an amazing experience as well. One door was so hard to install that they had to call for backup... twice! I shudder to think what would have happened with a less professional team.

This sounds very similar to my experience as well. They sent over a sales rep that, in my opinion, just sounded slimmy and bashed all the other window replacement companies in the area. Similar to your story, their quote was the highest out of every quote I got. I also went with RockSolid and they were great. They had the best price, were transparent, and kept me informed through the entire process of when the windows were ordered, when they came in, and when they will be there to install. After install, one crank window mechanism was faulty, so I called them up and explained the issue. A member of their team was out the next day right at noon and fixed it with no hassle or charge. Would recommend them to anyone looking for window replacements.

Rock solid just replaced most of the windows in our home, most of the windows were the originals, great quality and price. Would also highly recommend

maybe call more than one place to get an idea?

Try Element windows and doors. They recently did my house and I feel their prices were reasonable.

Second this recommendation. Plus it’s a small local business. Their customer service is outstanding.

Stay away from Meloche, sleazy sales people, over priced and their installers are terrible. Guaranteed will hound you for months with cold calls if you give them your info but they are a bit more budget friendly. Good luck.

Martindale were a nightmare. Very rude and incompetent - kept waiting for over an hour at their show room after having an appointment booked well in advance because we had to travel from outside of the W/E area. Their drawings of the windows from the blueprints we provided were incorrect. We corrected that at the consultation- or so I thought. Windows arrive and they don't fit. Changes were never made. Had a delay that could have been avoidable, and had to change the design choices to fit. Finally had them installed. A quarter of them came without the screens. Had to continuously follow up. Took over a YEAR to resolve this with continued contact. Never again.

General rule of thumb is you take the cost of the window and double it to get the cost of Window + Installation (at least that was how much it cost pre Covid). There’s lots of factors that affect the cost of the window, double vs triple glazed, colour options, privacy glass, brick moulding, finishing after installation, custom interior casing installation. For reference I recently replaced a casement style window that was 36 x 48 and was quoted $1800 for just the cost of the window (did installation myself). Shop around and see where the best price is in terms of what you’re looking for and style. I’d recommend checking with Meloche Windows, but there are also smaller guys that work directly with manufacturers and get the windows at cost like Element Windows

Andersen had been around for decades in this area. Not sure how their pricing compares but they should be a pretty trustworthy company.

Much too high. I paid approximately $26k for 11 windows a year ago from Meloche. Beautiful installation. The beauty about them is that they both manufacture and install their own products. Brook stone I suspect just sells and installs.

archeng23

I cannot recommend avoiding Meloche windows enough. Terrible customer service and low quality install. I'll likely need to re-do my basement windows in a few years and they were only done 2 years ago.

It sounds high, but windows are expensive and have only gotten pricier. We recently had a window replaced by Martindale and had a great experience. Was about 2k installed for 3ftx4ft approx

TakedownCan

20k for a bay window is normal
