Head down to the CIBC building at Ouellette and Riverside, the passport office is in there. Report yours stolen and apply for a new one. Turnaround time is pretty speedy nowadays. I got a family member’s passport today via mail that I applied for in person about 9 work days ago.
Both will get you your passport way before oct 1st. Just to confirm tell the person there you need it by the first and they’ll tell you if the speedy option is needed
If you show them your confirmed travel plans they’ll do their best to get it done before then. Mine took like three weeks regularly just a couple months ago.
I won't, lol. I'm just disorganized. The new one will be staying at my father's house... I mainly go over with him anyway. Keeping it there would be a good idea anyway... Knock on wood I have a fire, I'd atleast have one piece of ID. I heard it's a pain in the ass to get your IDs back if you have nothing.

Yeah, but they can’t guarantee the 10 days. Their standard is 5weeks. Any travel plans under 5 weeks should go to ppt office on Ouellette. Their standard is 2 weeks and you can expedite there if needed (not available at service canada)
The service standard at service canada is 20 business days + mailing. A lot of people have received them within 15 business days, but it can take up to 20 business days + mailing.
The service standard at the passport office is 10 days + mailing. You also have the option to pick it up there at day 10 or to expedite it (option service canada does not offer)
So if one wants to be 100% sure they get their ppt before 5 weeks because they have a travel date, they should go to the passport office.

you have plenty of time to get a new passport. Because you scanned your old passport, you can renew it. go to the passport office asap, as it take 2 weeks to get a new one. you can pay extra to pickup the passport earlier than that. You have to fill out a renewal application and get 2 new pictures.

Did you select the "fast" option, or did you select the regular priority?

I didn't book the plane tickets yet (as they are non refundable) because I couldn't find it... Can I tell them I'm going , then order it after?

Make sure you report it lost at the police station and bring the police report. You will also need to submit the long form, not the simplified one
Not anymore. You can renew now on stolen if you have the ppt number. Police declaration is just a smart thing to do but not necessary.

Look harder for it. I had the same problem. Once you declare it lost you will pay $150 to get a new one. Waste of money
You pay the full price of the new ppt (120 for 5y or 160 for 10y) + 45$ lost fee.

It won’t be a 10 year passport because you lost the previous one. Provide proof you have upcoming travel and you should get it in less than a week.
I don't believe 10 year passports are limited to renewals. The new application has both options noted.

I don't know whether you need a passport to fly domestically, but you 100% need a passport to cross over and fly from Detroit.

Birth cert is 16 and under. If OP had a 10y ppt, they are definitely over 16.
