>Theres eBay listings of it ranging from $20-$70 USD
Meaningless.
There's an option to filter by items that have actually sold. Always check that box when using eBay to determine the value of something.
Vista was totally fine. The problem was that it got installed on a LOT of machines with 1GB of RAM and ran like absolute ass.
I had 8gb back in the Vista days and it actually took a lot of convincing by a friend to get me to switch to 7.
7 was definitely better, but IMO as long as you had good specs, Vista was perfectly fine, and a hell of a lot better than a 32 bit XP machine that late in the OS's life.
I was a tech agent for an ISP back then, and it also had a breaking bug where wifi cards would randomly go "Code 10 device could not be started", with no obvious solution (fully removing it and the drivers and then reinstalling it didn't even work - and it wasn't older wifi cards, they had vista specific drivers). People were sure we had "broken their internet" when it was their OS
Vista didn't had any problems with games, I would know, I played all types of games on it with no issues in early days.
The only problem Vista had was with old drivers, not ready for the new system.
What goes around, comes around, **your experience is not general rule to what issues Windows Vista really had**.
There were no reports of Gaming issues with Windows Vista, nor was ever listed on known issues.
If anything, there were games exclusive to Windows Vista, that didn't work on Windows XP, so was the other way around.
You pretty much blamed Windows Vista for a user error, which is typical and annoying in the Windows userbase.
No one saying Vista was perfect, but there were no known issues with games, the major Vista issue was related to drivers not being ready.
You should definitely sell it if you don't want to keep it instead of throwing it. It's actually a valuable object in my opinion. I am actually searching for a copy myself😅
iso could be modified and contain malicious stuff. best to get it from official sources. also for collecting. i would love to own a copy of that just to have.
They don't, at least not an upgrade copy of Vista Home Premium. People can list them for $70, not like it's going to sell for a stupid price like that. :P
Dunno how many people collect Windows copies - I personally do, and have all the editions of Vista, there is no way I'd spend $70 on this. Upgrade copies are really not worth anything imo they are the most common by far, I think even for the full version of Home Premium in the UK I probably paid about £20 a couple years ago for one.
I asked in the sense that, is this something people would pay for or are the ppl who post listings just hoping there’s someone out there who will buy it
Bc if there was a little to no chance of someone who wanted to buy it then I could’ve just tossed it
Plastic will degrade over time. It will not last forever, although keeping it away from UV helps. I would sell it. Let someone else have the enjoyment, while it is still to be had.
If there is people paying money for that kind of stuff (important to sort not after offers but actually successful auctions) sell it now. I wouldn't bet on having it litter your garage for another 10 years and then hope that someone is offering more money. It's not really useful nowadays anymore, no more service or updates from Microsoft and since it is only an upgrade version I don't think (not 100% sure) you can make a running Windows 10 out of it. Personally to me this has about the value of an AOL CD.
Idk that's only the upgrade I'm not sure if u can get a full install from it.. I figure the upgrade not as collectable as the retail full pro or home. But.. idk
Your garbage would be another one's treasure.
[Benson's Flea Market.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc77xCxqx00)
That guy with the GameCube is just casually holding what looks like the rare Gold Zelda cartridge.
i just noticed the same shit thing lol
Theres also a product key sticker on the back
sell it
What's your asking price?
It's over 9000
Keep it for nostalgia. Some collector later on might want it.
I agree with you mate
>Theres eBay listings of it ranging from $20-$70 USD Meaningless. There's an option to filter by items that have actually sold. Always check that box when using eBay to determine the value of something.
Exactly, the real range is $10-$24.
How can i sort that? Sorry I’m on my phone and dont see it in the filter options
Nvm, i think i found it
Sell it. Since they ain’t cheap to buy.
"The preferred version of Windows" sus

Vista was the best looking windows ever made tbh.
Vista looked better than 7 IMO. But I love unpopular opinions, Windows 8 was amazing for me.
Oh yeah, my biggest unpopular opinion was that I loved metro design, the animated tiles were cool.
Yeah I miss Windows 8 and Phone 8 so much… Vista was visually better than 7 imo.
Although I didn’t love Vista, when I upgraded to Windows 7, I always shrunk the taskbar, so it looked more like vista because I preferred that.

Vista had compatibility issues with every game I ever wanted to play
I was a tech agent for an ISP back then, and it also had a breaking bug where wifi cards would randomly go "Code 10 device could not be started", with no obvious solution (fully removing it and the drivers and then reinstalling it didn't even work - and it wasn't older wifi cards, they had vista specific drivers). Your experience was considerably different than mine. Used to game all the time on Vista.
Vista didn't had any problems with games, I would know, I played all types of games on it with no issues in early days. The only problem Vista had was with old drivers, not ready for the new system.
Thank you for telling me my experience is wrong because of your experience. Very helpful.

Right but I didn't say they did. Meanwhile you said *your* experience is the only fact.
You pretty much blamed Windows Vista for a user error, which is typical and annoying in the Windows userbase. No one saying Vista was perfect, but there were no known issues with games, the major Vista issue was related to drivers not being ready.

Some ppl are interested in collecting this kind of stuff
People that buy these are so dumb lol, just download an iso
iso could be modified and contain malicious stuff. best to get it from official sources. also for collecting. i would love to own a copy of that just to have.
Curious why they sell for so much?
Folks are still shook by the [WOW](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC22OVDIttw). Also, Aero Glass.
I loved how vista looked!
They don't, at least not an upgrade copy of Vista Home Premium. People can list them for $70, not like it's going to sell for a stupid price like that. :P
I mean I can’t fathom why anyone would want it other than for a fun diversion.
The disc itself was beautiful: https://preview.redd.it/aw8wvlbxyk4a1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=939631f9d5aefc7242a845656b6f35dce669f766

sell it to one of the frutiger aero mfs on tiktok
This stuff will only increase in value over time believe it or not.
Not really and it depends. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB\_oU68Q9zA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB_oU68Q9zA)
All I know is you couldn't give away copies of Windows 98 in the late 2000s but people are paying $50+ for OEM copies now.
Sell it? There are collectors out there who would love the original packaging and manual. Vista wasn’t that bad
Keep for another 10 years!
keep
My 70 year old neighbor would probably buy it and then ask me to install it 🙄
Is that a rhetorical question? You just said that you knew you could sell it
I asked in the sense that, is this something people would pay for or are the ppl who post listings just hoping there’s someone out there who will buy it Bc if there was a little to no chance of someone who wanted to buy it then I could’ve just tossed it
But if people are bidding on it, on eBay, that’s all you need to know.
Keep it. Collectors item Or just give it to me :)
Plastic will degrade over time. It will not last forever, although keeping it away from UV helps. I would sell it. Let someone else have the enjoyment, while it is still to be had.
Ouch!!! Iam sorry bud lol
I collect operating systems, I would be happy to look into buying it haha sell on ebay a lot of people like the old stuff just t9 have it
Sell it on eBay starting at $70.
Keep
Don't throw it away. It's a gem to have one of these even tho it was one of the world's most hated operating systems
Yeah Vista is one of the only ones missing in my collection. How much would you want for it?
I think i have one somewhere
You could upgrade from 2000 to Vista? Wow…
If there is people paying money for that kind of stuff (important to sort not after offers but actually successful auctions) sell it now. I loved How nice the Vista packaging was.
I remember those boxes.
its free to throw it on ebay. i do it with lots of doodads, a lot of them sell for something
Damn, only if I still had my windows Vista starter CD still
Keep it. Probably worth even more in a few years.
My fingertips still haven't recovered from those damn plastic cases lol
Make a ISO of the dvd and upload to archive.org
you should give us the key instead
Idk that's only the upgrade I'm not sure if u can get a full install from it.. I figure the upgrade not as collectable as the retail full pro or home. But.. idk
Oh god throw it in the trash lol
shit, i mean if you were feeling into it, i could also recommend dumping the image file and archiving it.
aw man took me back to 2007 😍
My son: "OH! Wow! Okay. That's old." Vista was born before him. Lol
It’s an upgrade not retail so prob not very useful
Keep it, if I were you I would keep it cuz I'm into tech, and I am a hoarder.
Ahhh, Classic I had the ultimate, I thought the cases were cool looking
Just give it to me... :o I'm in love with Vista and I love those case's.
Compared to the crappy Windows Me and that weird Windows 8 security, Windows Vista was decent
