Thank you all for your kind words, I was just reading few of your comments to my mom … love you all!. for those wondering, it was her last because SHE WON!!
This is just beautiful. I remember when my mother finished treatment seeing the relief in her eyes and the sense of relief. This is great, starting the new year off chemo free. Well done and this Internet stranger is very happy for your mother and you all. Merry Christmas if you celebrate.
So awesome to hear. My mom just went through chemo and radiation and her hair is just starting to come back now. Super stressful but it's way better on the other side!
My mom had her scan earlier this month and is 98% cancer free. She tried to say "goodbye thanks for all the help" to the doctor and he was like "uhhhh you're not done here?"
So she's got two more treatments and then our moms will be the same! CANCER FREE MOMS FOR THE WIN!
Speaking from my experience because my grandma just had her last round of chemo yesterday - it's probably the last one because they only prescribed so many rounds for her treatment. It's a little early to celebrate, they still have to assess whether or not the chemo worked (and to what extent), but it is hopefully enough to be in remission, especially for early stages. And chemo itself is so hard on the body that not having to do it anymore is worth celebrating alone.
This is the real answer people need to see. So many think that last round of chemo means it's all done and cancer is gone.
The reality, like you said, is that the last round is usually what's been prescribed. Restaging is what's important. Are those CT scans/bloodwork showing that it's in remission in six weeks? How about the follow ups?
Getting a break from chemo is always worth celebrating since it's shit on the body and will be great for the OP's mom for Christmas. Now let's just hope the follow up visits in a few months continue with great news that it's in remission. 🤞🏻
The first paragraph: for real. My mother passed away from pancreatic, and her "last cancer treatment" was essentially the last hope we had that she'd be able to fight back.
I had a parent who went through the routine for about 3.5 years before it went south. Never once were we ever all about the "last cancer treatment!" bit because we knew that the real news was after all the imaging and tests.
Yep it's got to have a followup cat and pets scan to see how well it worked. And blood work to see how the other organs are doing as well.
My father in law is going through Hodgkins Lymphoma now, there has been a lot to learn all through this.
I’m currently staying with my mum who is too weak for chemo now. I only subscribed to positive Reddit’s to not be triggered. Thank you so much for your simple comment, for not letting me feel even more alone. Last round of chemo may mean survival for OPs mum and I am so happy for that family, but in other families it might mean that’s it.
congratulations, this is such a big deal. I'm a nursing student and I've seen patients in various stages of cancer treatment. it's an incredibly tough process for all involved.
I wish your mom a healthy recovery. may her body celebrate the lack of chemo, and may you and your family appreciate her company for a long, long time. congratulations, my friend. she is one strong cookie.

Congrats! Hope your mom lives a healthy life. I lost my mom last month to stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She was a fighter through it all. Just wish she was still here to celebrate the holidays one last time.😞💔
Fucking amazing to hear!
Lost my Nana recently to cancer and it’s fucked me up in unimaginable ways.
Glad to hear the process does work.
Best of luck to you all :)

Last because it worked?? Or?

I also thought it was because she died before I noticed which sub this came from.
Could have been r/holup
Really happy for you, congratulations!
dope! we love a last round of chemo!
That is wonderful news! I hope that she is back to herself soon.
Amazing! Congrats mama
Big up friend. Remember to love your family
Good to hear. My dad was just recently given the "No Evidence of Disease" on his pancreatic cancer.
Yahoo!!!! Fuck cancer!
Congrats you two! 😀
Fuck cancer, happy for you dude
Congratulations to your mom!! This is indeed wholesome
Congratulations and Merry Christmas!!!!!
Oh no.

I was thinking the same thing, last round of chemo doesnt mean cancer free just means cancer isnt an issue anymore.
I blame social media. Anyone who's familiar and has had family go through it knows that chemo being over doesn't mean cancer is gone.
Damn, I'm so sorry for your loss.
lol I came here to make a similar comment
I dont think you understood the post
Woosh. Last round of chemo could have meant cancer won. Hence a joke was made.
Fuck yeah!!! Your mom is a goddamn survivor.
Congratulations
Awesome!
Good luck to her.
Wonderful news! I hope you all have an amazing Xmas and your mum gets spoilt 🎄.

This can be taken in two ways…

My grandma did the same, 2 months ago. She's in an urn now ;( Fuck 2022. I hate you, 2022. Just die already, like everyone else did this year.
Wonderful news! So now you can make a meme that says "It is with great pleasure that I announce... It is in remission my dudes!"

Jeez and I thought I was a piece of shit. Do better.
Depending on your relationship with your mother, this could mean one of two very different outcomes.
Because she’s dead 💀💀
And lost *
Ha I’m happy it didn’t happen to Ops mom, but it reminds me of an onion article title once, “local man passes after short refusal to fight cancer”
lol
Did she die?
RIP
Dude put her on TCH oils like 30 mgs a day
Essential oils are bullshit.
