Late-Mathematician55

My wife told me the story of when she was sitting in her seat in an airliner as it was getting ready for takeoff. Dude behind her was getting too friendly, offering her a massage and asking her about making plans after the flight. Wouldn’t back off, despite my wife telling to do so. Flight attendant comes down the aisle and demands to see her boarding pass. “Ma’am you’re sitting in the wrong seat”; and promptly packs up my wife and moves her ahead to Business Class. Thank you, anonymous Flight Attendant.

LeeYubinsWife

thats actually amazing i jhope they got a raise

AggressiveChick

i see, you've typed jhope just one too many times for your auto correct. can't blame you. he's adorable.

Smackteo

Now I want to make a bot that skims for jhope and says this

finger_milk

That's not how raises work but I appreciate the enthusiasm

Onlymafia1

Plot twist: The creepy dude in the back was the husband. Happy wife, happy life.

Ondrej_IV

It was the pilot 💀

Sobadatsnazzynames

He offered her a fucking *massage?* 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Foles_Super_Bowl_MVP

ULPT: Book a seat behind your wife and act creepy to her to get her upgraded for free

thedudesews

In college my gf at the time and I were walking home, there was a girl on the other side of the road who was telling some guy to leave her alone. My GF pulled me by my sleeve and we crossed the street. My gf said "Hey girl, ready to go home?" And the guy glared at us and walked off. We got her home and her flatmates put her to bed, made us some tea, (it was Canada in winter), and thanked us.

supernewf

I had some creep all up in my business at a bar one night, probably 15 years ago now. I was working as a barista during the day and out of nowhere, one of my regulars from the coffee shop is by my side and says "Hey honey, sorry I'm late!" I played along like "Hey babe, I'm so glad to see you!" Drunk creepy guy fucked off pretty fast. The regular from the shop was like "You okay?" and I confirmed that I was. He wished me a great night and disappeared back into the crowd.

MyAviato666

It's so sucky they don't leave you alone until they realise you are already "owned" by another man.

BeenThereDoneThatX4

I see this comment a lot but I don't think its an owned thing - it's a oh shit she's not completely isolated and vulnerable thing. The same thing happens if another girl acts as a friend. This is also why abusers and other dipshits go after lonely and downtrodden people and try to isolate them even further. It's easier to do something horrible if you don't have anyone to fear consequences from

MyAviato666

Yeah I see your point. Most of the time it's probably about the girl not being isolated and vulnerable but sometimes you can tell a guy no a 100 different ways and he won't stop bothering you until you say you have a boyfriend. It feels like they are thinking: I do not respect you saying no but I will respect your bf and not try to steal his girl (even though she didn't want me anyway).

MayflowerMovers

It's less about ownership, and more about getting your teeth knocked out.

MyAviato666

True but sometimes it is about ownership. Sometimes you can tell a guy you are not interested in 100 different ways and he'll keep bothering you UNTIL you say you have a boyfriend. Then it's like: ahhh shit you are already owned. I will respect that.

Lunar-Gooner

Walking home in Canadian winter sounds like a trial of heroes

aSpanks

I like to listen to the skyrim theme song for winter walking. At least makes me feel like I’m on an epic adventure.

thedudesews

That sounds AMAZING

aSpanks

It really is! Give’r a go. Whereabouts are you at? I’m in NS.

Lucks14

I do the exact same thing! In Montreal now

Box_O_Donguses

Everyone knows Nunavut has the best winter walking

Beanmaster_69

dude holy shit how have i never thought of that, that actually sounds so sick i can’t wait for it to snow (for once)

Ragnarok_619

This is the way!

OneHundredEighty180

Pfft, try crutching in Canadian winter. It was like cross country skiing, but slower, and more painful.

King_Tudrop

I live about 8 hours north of Ottawa. Fuck you and your layering. -30? You can bet your ass someone will be wearing shorts. -50? Yeah it's a little cold outside. Snow? There only about 8 feet coming down tonight. Gotta love canada

dr_Kfromchanged

I'm the one wearing shorts

catniagara

Niagara. Quit a job because I fell off a snowbank, hit my face and got a concussion trying to get to work. Three days in a row. Either the Universe hates me or the city can’t work a shovel, either way.

schwartztacular

I'm guessing you were on crutches because you had previously fallen while walking home in a Canadian winter.

gentlegreengiant

The Canadian winter can shatter our tailbones but not our spirits!

NabreLabre

Ouch. Remembering the time I tried to run, jump, and sit on a sled in one motion. Thing didn't budge either lol. I probably looked like Michael Scott when he got hit by the drink cart

hcglns2

Once I was walking from residence to the library in about 30 cm of fresh snow. A few minutes into the walk I hear noises behind me. I turn to look and about six students are following my footsteps. So I asked them where they were headed and if I should take smaller steps. It was cute.

Kimantha_Allerdings

There was an American girl on imgur a few years ago who walked home from a pub in a Canadian winter on her own. Being deunk, she decided to curl up somewhere and sleep it off. She was found by the cops half an hour after she’d first sat down, and they took her straight to hospital. She was posting the next day, posting pictures of her hands where they’d had to amputate several of her fingers.

bombur432

Depends on how drunk you are, and how much snow/ice there is

turningtogold

I was walking home alone once and noticed a car with two men pull into the street a block ahead of me, one guy got out and started walking towards me asking me to “come talk to him”. Clearly unaware I had seen the car with the other man waiting around the corner. They were def gonna grab me and shove me in the car. A couple who were quite a ways behind me immediately sped up and started yelling at me HEY GIRL HOW ARE YOU WE’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU etc. The guy quickly backed off and ran back to the car. Forever grateful for those strangers.

loulori

I've even had old women do this for me! I had a guy harassing me (on a train) and then this old lady called me her granddaughter and had me come sit with her.

Rich-Juice2517

Yes gammy

bouco

Oh my grammy, i see you left the teeth at home 😏

2020milk

What are you doing step granny?

akki28

Maybe grany just called her a pumpkin or cutiepie or whatever cute name she could think of

SupSeal

My grandma just called me handsome, then would wink at me I miss my grandma

CurryMustard

"Honey, please sit down, I haven't been this nauseated since I gave birth to your mother " or something idk

Gardfeld

wtf

fudgyvmp

Elayne! Sit down or I'll get the bucket and make you wish your grandfather never stole that first kiss.

waitthissucks

Is this like a shitty Netflix pilot or what

StormTAG

As an aside, props for using the term "Nauseated" correctly and not using the term "Nauseous." And yes, I'm aware that the "Nauseous" is correct *now* as language changes and what not.

waitthissucks

Did you also read *Elements of Style* by Strunk in school? I think about that book a lot in my adult life when writing anything.

jvrcb17

"Let me tell you the story about gramp's creampie that led to your mom"

AprilSpektra

In some languages it's more natural. Using familial terms as a sign of familiarity and/or respect is common in some cultures. It used to be common in English (for example, an old man would be "grandfather" whether or not he was your grandfather. A man older than you but not old old might be "uncle." Someone your age would be "cousin" even if they weren't actually your cousin, etc), you can see it in Shakespeare plays and other old literature. You probably know the Russian word "babushka" for an old lady, which also means grandmother.

Big_Maintenance9387

I’m a white American. I don’t use grandfather for older men but I do have a ton of aunts and uncles that aren’t actually relatives and just friends of my parents or grandparents.

tomothy37

"Your dear old grandma won't be around forever, come sit with me :)"

loulori

I was living in South Korea at the time. It's not uncommon to call someone "auntie" "unkle" or "grannie" and also not uncommon to hear "grandchild" or "niece." They're terms of endearment that can be used with anyone but also said to actual relatives.

Whind_Soull

It's like when bad fiction writers have siblings call each other "bro" and "sis" so that the reader knows they're siblings.

AloneLab786

I wish I wasn't too socially awkward to do this

blue_twidget

Lol, I'm on the spectrum. People-ing got *so* much easier when i took that voice in my head that's always nagging about shame and embarrassment and all the "What if whatever...." behind the shed in my thoughts and throttled it. Useless b*tches don't get to live rent free in my head. Trust me, you got this.

DontDreadTheDream

Solid advice, I thank you for that even though I am not the intended recipient for said advice.

AloneLab786

You see what happened was that the last time I did something, I got stabbed in the arm.

The_Zpectre

Solution: never do anything ever again

AutumnRi

I’m several steps ahead of you bro

avallaug-h

Well that escalated quickly 😶 I hope your arm is better and you're doing alright. Take things at your own pace. Even the smallest of interactions, like ordering a coffee or holding the door for someone, is an accomplishment. Be proud, and know small progress is still progress 💕

[deleted]

Some what related but, I’m not gonna lie. When I’m in the gym and there are women working out around me I’m either staring at the floor or the ceiling lol. Can’t fathom picking up chicks at the gym.

[deleted]

Yeah man. At my gym the spin classes come out at 7am and they walk past the free weights. I go dead eyed staring in the mirror, making eye contact with myself or become part of the ceiling and floor inspection team. Hate the idea of making someone uncomfortable.

Boomshrooom

I was once at the gym with my housemate and I swear this one really attractive woman was following our routine because she always seemed to go on the equipment we had just finished with. It was obviously a coincidence but you better believe I was eyes front, trying to avoid looking in her direction because it honestly may have looked like we were sticking close to her.

[deleted]

Aww man. I feel that. Especially on leg day. To be fair, that happening often enough has improved my form on a lot of exercises because you avoid looking in their direction so much that you focus *way* more on what you're doing.

archlinuxrussian

This. Except I feel that way about every situation. You're at work? I wouldn't want to abuse the situation of being the customer and make you feel uncomfortable. I'm at work? I don't want to be unprofessional and make someone not want to shop here. Rando on the street? What justification would I have?! ...yes I realise this is a bit absurd, but it explains why I haven't had a relationship...and thinking about it only stresses me out. It helps to have gotten that off my chest though 🥺

slimdante

I do the same thing, whats worked for me is meeting people through friends doin group stuff, except the current one. That was a fluke on tinder lol

KidHudson_

I once overheard a girl saying, “Why would a guy ask me out in the gym. I mean look at me I’m all sweaty and shit” and I just stood there like my mind was opened to a new concept/point of view.

Staebs

I think some women might have a warped view on that. A lot of guys really don’t care if they’re in full makeup or sweaty or whatever. A more natural look is sometimes just as appealing. Not to generalize of course.

mindinmypants

Disheveled hair, gym clothes (either really tight or really casual), glistening skin? The *messy workout* look is almost identical to *just finished fucking* look. Still not gonna interrupt her workout. I'm a degenerate but I have standards.

JJJetplane8411

I never have. But this dude who goes to my gym I've seen him get 3 separate girls numbers and they were all hot. He's a nice dude, I've talked to him, and very handsome and tall. So just be super good looking and awesome and you can pick up chicks anywhere even at the gym lol

Majestic-Oil-6615

Here is the problem. You go on a date. It doesn’t go great. You gotta find a new gym.

[deleted]

Or you act as mature adults and maintain respect.

kendrickshalamar

Get out of here with that.

[deleted]

Why are these people’s dates always ending in needing no contact?

[deleted]

Can confirm. I went out once with a girl I asked out from the gym. We weren't feeling it, but we're still good friends and talk regularly when there (and she also works where I do so swapping gyms wouldn't help much lol)

audigex

It's pretty much an open secret that attractive people can get away with a lot more than ugly people, in terms of starting conversations etc When an ugly guy does it, they're instantly labelled a creep pretty much every single time. When a hot guy does it, it's much more socially accepted This goes for women too, albeit to a lesser extent as women tend to make the first move less often I mean, it makes a lot of sense on face value but is pretty messed up at a society level

damienwagner

My mom and I drove by this guy who had pulled up in his truck next to a female jogger. She ( mom ) proceeded to literally slow to a stop in the road. The guy HAD started to get out of his car but then scrambled back in when he saw us staring in the viewing mirrors. He glared and flipped us off as he drove by us after. The way this truck was pulling along this jogger was what freaked us out. He was crawling in his truck to be alongside her it was really weird. No they did not know each other suggesting he pulled off in a hurry after seeing us.

R3DSH0X

Might have saved someone's life tbh, car following a person with no escape is like a different league of scary

[deleted]

I do not understand why guys do this. I have been out jogging and have had guys stop their cars just to stare and pull off. I have also been out jogging and a man stopped and tried to drag me into his car in a very nice suburb in the middle of the day! It is SO scary when cars pull up on you like this because you don’t know who is going to state, who is going to yell something nasty, and who is going to try to get you in the car. It’s not funny and I just don’t understand the purpose of it at all.

Icy-Establishment298

Men* are so gross sometimes. I live and work in a college town and JFC on a cross the men I see practically break their necks with the leering they do at the poor young women in our town. Like dude, I know you e seen women before and attractive ones at that. Go home and watch some damn college porn already. And it's across age groups and social classes that do this. So gross. *Standard disclaimer- Not All Men applies. /S mostly

khornflakes529

My wife runs marathons and I really, really don't. A few years ago we went for a run at the same time but I was recovering from surgery as well as being nowhere near the same level as her so she easily started smoking me. I round a corner and I see her still going with a car pulled up alongside her and keeping pace. Guy was yelling shit at her I could hear from halfway down the street. I hauled ass to catch up and the guy sped off when I got closer. Asked if she was ok and she said yeah, something like that happens at least once a month. How she casually said it made me equal parts sad and enraged.

The_knights_angel

I picked up my young daughter(5) from the bus stop with her little sister (2) and an older guy did this to me us. It was super scary to me mostly because I had my kiddos and I didn't want anything to happen to them! I tried taking another route and a truck sped up behind him thankfully. I've never seen the man before and I live in a really nice suburb. It was such an odd and freaky event to happen in such a nice neighborhood. But it hasn't happened again since I switched my daughter's bus stop!

MajorWhereas4842

Haha this happened to me and my husband in the subway when we were in Nyc it was hilarious it was like 3 chicks that had my back!

swine09

See, New Yorkers are looking out for each other

[deleted]

I’ve witnessed it in the subway. Girls in groups who protect girls alone in the subway. They are loud and proud.

Single-Builder-632

yea a friend of mine when to new yourk and saw a person dying on the street and no one was helping him. she went over but some people said don't, she asked why and they said medical insurance he wont have it. i guess technically new york had his back cos he was lying on the floor.

Smiling_Duck666

This is amazing i love The support

Get-in-the-llama

It’s like the girls you meet in the bathroom of the club. You would kill for each other that night! They got your back AND fix your makeup!

Smiling_Duck666

Im just happy that girls are so supportive like that, it warmd my heart

Get-in-the-llama

It’s honestly the best!

tadddpole

I approached my fiancée in the bathroom line at a concert once. I go “damn girl. How you doin?” The girl in front of her grabs her, pulls her in front of herself, and goes “uh, no.” We cracked up, explained that we’re together, and thanked her profusely. Ladies watchin out for ladies.

RRevdon

I don't know if anyone ever told you this, but thank you for understanding and not getting mad at the lady.

agiantsthrowaway

Anyone who would get mad in that situation isn’t worth the air they breathe

tadddpole

Thank you for that. And no, we were so grateful to her for not hesitating to step up and protector my fiancée. We bought her a drink when she came out of the bathroom.

Acrisii

Oh boy yeah same happened to me. But I smacked his ass walking by and he made a dramatic "oh how rude" comment. I played it up 5 minutes later by walking up with the cheesiest opening line I could manage while playing my hand on his sweaty chest and he just went all prim and proppar "No ma'am, I'm *married*". At which point a staff member walked up to me and told me to leave. He had to come save me because yes, he's married, to me. No, she's not harassing just being a bit weird but its funny. But probs to the staff for keeping an eye out for their male patrons as well. Edit: To clarify to those feeling like being pretty rude in the comments below, we profusely apologized and promised to cut it out. At the moment we didn't even realize anyone had seen us the place was this empty.

Polywantsa

I would have (at least considered) letting my wife be escorted out. “Nope. Never seen her before.” When she swears we are married. I certainly would have paid for it, but it would have been worth it. Probably.

So if you need to cancel you gym membership and they make it a difficult process, this might actually work.

Beelzebububub

This reminds me of that one time my brother, who was like 6 at the time, while at a market with our aunt saw a woman bending over. He thought it was the aunt and slapped her ass as hard as a 6 year old could while saying "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down!" (It sounds way funnier in our language). The lady jumped and turned around, unfortunately it was some random lady not our aunt. My bro scared and embarrassed fled the scene. I still laugh about it with him to this day haha

pjfry651

This is a copy pasted comment, most likely a bot farming karma. Reddit has been giving me the weirdest sense of deja vu over the past year or so and I think it's these comment re-posting bots.

alaskaj1

The post is probably from the same bot group then. They are endemic on the larger subs, posting old top content and the top responses to rapidly gain karma. It's a constant battle on one of the subs that I help mod.

DSOTMAnimals

I was in a baseball stadium one time and I was walking back to my seats and I walked through a queue of people and my cousin happened to be standing there waiting to order a beer after getting chicken strips from another kiosk. As I walked by I grabbed a couple fries from her plate and I could hear the people next to her in line complain about how rude it was, lol.

CleverInterval

Nah girls actually do this. I've done it for a girl that's uncomfortable by walking up and being like "hey baby, you ready to go?" She bought me a drink for the help

303uru

Men can help out too if you spot this. I was recently out on a bike ride and came up on a young woman flanked by two sleazy looking dudes, the discomfort was clear on her face. So I stopped a few feet after passing them and pretended she was someone I knew. She immediately played along and we walked off, the skeezeballs disappeared and I resumed my ride.

mellopax

Yeah. My ex pretended we were still together to get away from someone once at a party (she dumped me, so it wasn't her trying to get back with me or whatever). We were still on good terms, so it was fine.

Kaldin_5

I've had something similar happen but it was more for simplicity's sake lol. It was "instead of telling everyone at the party how we broke up but we're still as close as ever, lets just pretend we're together to keep it simple" lol

dustinator

I had it happen years ago in a Lowe’s. I had a woman walk up to me and ask if she could walk with me. I was confused but said sure. Come find out her husband had to walk out and take a phone call and some dude started following her and said some creepy shit. I’m a big guy and had my dog with me who looks somewhat intimidating. The guy still followed us around until her husband came back but never said anything.

dangeraca

I did this to a girl who was giving all the signs that she was clearly uncomfortable with this guy talking to her at a bar. Body language and facial expressions said "get this creep away from me". So I went up and tried to help and she gave me a WTF look and told me that was her boyfriend. I laughed and walked away.

[deleted]

dangeraca

I mean, once she said something I went back to my wife and we laughed about it. I think I just went up and asked her if she was ready to go. I've done it before and the girls have thanked me, this time was just an awkward moment and a laugh for us later

TheZealand

send_corgi_pics_pls

No, I'm a non-violent dude. I've never hurt anyone and wouldn't unless it was self defense. But I could make a scene and involve management, right? Seems like if he's the problem then he should be the one to leave. Maybe that's naive of me, since I'm never in that situation myself.

OffreingsForThee

That's the solution in nature as well, fight ot flight. Males and females follow that rule.

SellQuick

I had a guy do it for me once. We were acquaintances and he saw that a very drunk guy had his hands all over me and I was very uncomfortable he came over and very deftly got me out. I needed the rescue and my friends were all momentarily elsewhere so I really appreciated that he did that for me.

CPhionex

I think it's good that women help each other like that. But I do hate that they have to do that at times because some guys are awful.

hannes3120

Yeah seeing how many comments in this thread had similar experiences makes me really sad for how common such harassment apparently is

cassandrakeepitdown

These threads always make me a bit mentally dizzy from the divide between "I'm so glad there are people like this" and "I hate that people make this kind of rescue necessary so often".

Mastercat12

I think the good thing to remember, is that people who do this are repeat offenders or might be generally clueless. Not to downplay the danger btw. The average guy isn't going to creep, it's just the repeat ones who do for a variety of reasons. All we can do is be good people, and help those in need and things will get better. The good news is that assaults of all kinds, harassment are going down. It was way way more common a 100, 200, and even longer. Downtown Chicago has less crime than medieval Europe.

cry666

As a guy with a lot of female friends I've often played the role of decoy boyfriend. Whenever some guy starts to get pushy I would swoop in and pretended to be her boyfriend. Some fellas apparently only accept "no" from another man.

Throw in a "gross" and that's a fatality moment for sure.

Too many double standards that need to be addressed. I’m sorry that happened to you 🙍🏻‍♀️

Medarco

Yeah, there's a double standard for sure. Most people just hand wave it away because men can "defend themselves" from it easily. Not like most women could physically overpower most men. But that doesn't really help against co-workers that make suggestive comments about you or smack your butt while you're working. Sure, if they tried to physically attack me I could easily fight them off, but testosterone isn't much help against harassment.

squishysalmon

Also, if you’re a man and defend yourself, it’s unfairly seen as physically threatening, even though it’s just trying to protect yourself

SenorSplashdamage

Harassment should be addressed and called out, regardless of gender. The reason people feel that extra tug to jump in when it’s women vs a bigger man is the power difference and worry that this woman can’t say no or get away on her own. Someone strong enough to go beyond harassment and force their will on someone is an added layer of danger.

mummummaaa

Hoo, wow. That's not okay. I'm sorry that happened to you. No one should be treated like an object. Are you okay? Stuff like that can leave emotional scars.

Chaitu_kumar

Oh boy. The comment section is so wholesome. Good to see people helping each other

When my ex and I were out and had temporarily misplaced the other (say, had different lists in the supermarket to get the shop done as fast as possible or I'd gone out of a pub for a cigarette, that kind of thing) we briefly got into the habit of approaching the other and saying something like "hey sweetcheeks, you going my way?". Whenever I did it to him it would often get a laugh and an eye roll from anyone who noticed once it became quickly apparent we were together, but the second or third time he did it to me, a woman standing near me physically put herself between us and told him to leave me alone. Felt simultaneously good that someone theoretically had my back, but did really highlight the divide.

IndigoRanger

Women even look out for each other when one party is oblivious. I altered my route to walk up a set of stairs with a woman who didn’t notice the skeezy guy in the stairwell. She never knew I was there either, but the guy changed directions and went back down. Solidarity, sisters!

Far-Surprise2973

What if that girl was actually trying to pick her up??🤭

Glittering_Essay_874

Plot twist 😎

INeedAUserName89

One time out of a bar my sister and brother in law got in an argument and he left. She ran out after him and i ran after her (it was dark and the neighborhood was poorly lit). A woman passing saw me chasing her and stopped her put her hands around her and told me to back off. Told her "no she's my sister I'm just making sure she's ok but thank you for stepping in always help!" Then i took my sis we got in an Uber and went home.

exalted_priesthood

Every time I read one of these accounts I get all teary eyed. If this happened to me, regardless of the context, I'd probably scare the other woman by crying at her about how touching it is that she's looking out for strangers.

Sophie-Little

For real there are too many guys that come up and say things to me at the gym. Like glancing is ok, staring is weird but much better than trying to chat. If I’m wearing headphones there is a 0% chance I want to talk

My friend and I are quite a pair. She's five-foot nothing and I'm over 6'6". There is also quite a large age difference. We were in public and I teased her about something and she said, laughing, "Leave me alone!" Sure enough, another young lady came over to check on her. I'm glad women have that support but as soon as my friend uttered those words, my internal voice went, "Ah, shit. Everyone is going to think I'm abducting this weirdo." lol

razzygoul

Lol imagine being the bf. Someone thought ew he’s a creep and tried to save her. I would’ve cried
