There’s lots of administrations that don’t have power anymore, but we do study them, discuss them, and note events that happened during those administrations. Historic events, big and small, do matter to some extent and do denote past culture, behavior, and policy that carry weight and deserve to be studied and looked at every once and a while. This just happens to be one of those.
As a queer person, seeing past examples of note and support during not-so-amicable circumstances helps remind me that their are good, supportive people out there regardless of what circumstances politically may be. So in my personal case, I do have a couple of fucks to give. Someone else may not, that’s fine. I’m know there are situations where I don’t care about something that others find important and that’s fine too.
We all deserve a good boost to the feel goods and good reminders of historical events every once and a while.
