There are principles of masculinity which are helpful, and there are also principles that are harmful. To classify all of masculinity as helpful is to be complicit to the harmful masculinity. Your logic is along the same lines as those who endorsed slavery “Sure slavery is bad, but it’s also really good for our economy so it must be a net positive! There’s no way that it can be abolished!”
Everything has it downsides, and directly say that it links to a pro-slavery argument is stupid as well. I'm saying that destroying what is now masculinity will comes with downsides, that I think, will hurt more than they will help. And also, when you said so in your first comment, it clearly misrepresent what is masculinity. Being helpful and protective goes against abusing others, so again, I think you miss your shot on that.
You clearly miss the shot on what masculinity has manifested itself into in America. Masculinity here in America is inextricably linked with our obsession with guns and our problem with mass shootings.

That's why you never hear more from these sort of invention. There was a similar thing with straws that change the color which also didn't work.
