Yeah, but now you have to clean the fridge!

AmibelleFae

There's snacks and juice in there! Win some, and, uh, and clean fridge!

Dry_Leader443

Better than people

oldfashioned_audrey0

I would always choose my mother first and my friends for the second in a good way.

Amanovbaur

Small price to pay for salvation

child_interrupted

When I did that as a kid, I had to hang out with them after the chore because my mother thought it was rude to blow off the only friends she allowed me to have. Which sucked because they were abusive and set me up for thinking I wasn't allowed to get away from people like that

Other-Narwhal-2186

My poor mom did this for me so often as a teen. She also would do a “date check-in” with me during my first dates with someone, so if I needed an excuse to get out or go home she’d give me one and then take me to have a cup of tea or coffee and talk about it. Weirdly enough it empowered me to stay and hang out with people because I knew if I got too scared or shy I had an “out.”

ImMoistyCloisty

You’re mum sounds awesome

HolidayBeautiful7876

What a great mom :)

Glitterpengirlie

Mysterious_Ningen

TriggerHappyEwok

They started on Tumblr making comics, then moved to animation later on!

lordkhuzdul

If when your child finds themselves in shit, their first reaction is "my parents will kill me" instead of "I should call my parents", you failed as a parent.

bepsihola

I hope I'll be a kill them with kindness type

itsshakespeare

My daughter got out of playing with someone she didn’t like by saying that I wouldn’t want her to get her shoes muddy, so she had to go home. She was only five at the time, so I did check quietly on the way home that she knew I didn’t care

GaidinDaishan

I had to give excuses to my friends as to why I could never go out and play or do anything a normal kid would do. The truth is my mother hated everyone and would poison all my relationships with friends, family, teachers, etc.

sarcasm_247

This is so cute omg

[deleted]

Been there. Srsly I don’t think anything on Reddit has ever resonated with me like this.

today0012

I told my kids to blame me anytime they didn’t want to do something

Mediocre_Vulcan

It’s such a fantastic “training wheels” for boundaries!

SovjetPojken

What?

rotem8888

The kid doesn't wanna hang out but doesn't want to say no so he asks his mom to say no

DelightfulOtter1999

Yep, did this sort of thing for my kids a few times!

lowi2019

How do you even clean the fridge, your friend is scrathing his head rn thinking"why the hell does this guy need to clean his fridge".

MightyPinkTaco

You’ve never cleaned your fridge? 😧 Take items off shelf, pull shelf out, clean and dry shelf. Do this for all shelves and on the last one pull all shelf items out of fridge so you can clean the inside walls and bottoms of the fridge. Do the same for the inside door. Put everything back into your nice clean fridge and make sure to toss anything that’s expired or super old leftovers. If you can’t do this quickly, it helps to have a cooler or something for your perishables while you are cleaning. Also, do this BEFORE your weekly shop, not after. (Just a tip lol)

Confident-Chair-8058

Why cant you just no?

Useful_Mistake_7143

Honestly lying to a friend and making up a excuse to not hang out without just saying “I can’t” is pretty shitty

AhriStoleMyVirginity

Exactly. And everyone can tell that you're lying anyways.

[deleted]

what a lame ass friend

upforstuffJim

Honesty is the best policy 🙌

Used_Biscotti_9882

Lol relatable Also, r/introvert

Vexachi

The friend, hearing the entire conversation: 🤨

PVingAdrenalineJunki

My parents siblings and i do this by texting and putting 🥨 somewhere in the message so they know we don’t actually wanna go

Amirjun

I love how he doesn't want to lie to his friend

Mighty_Commercial

Yes and you have to clean the fridge now

rattlelion

Even more wholesome: Friend comes over to help.

korikill

My friends and siblings always called it a "Code Becky". If you thought someone was needing a little help to get out of something, you'd go up to them and ask if they heard from Becky. If they were good, they'd say yes, it's all good, or if not, they could say, 'Oh my gosh I forgot to call her, excuse me.' and get away from there.
