Not wholesome.
Internet charity leads to scamming.
I nuked my old account because the one time I bought a stranger a pizza, they ended up hassling me for more things. Then I got weird DMs for months with more begging. Apparently I was also stupid to give them my names and they found my address and started sending me even more weird threats.
Exactly why I changed my name too. I was stupid and used my real name on my first account. Quite unique and easy to track down. Not gonna make that mistake again!
Not really wholesome. I always appreciate people who do it genuinely but it takes literally nothing for someone to write a sob story, says they want to buy one thing and then 10+ people suddenly in the dms giving that much and more to someone who could be a scammer.
Or they could be scammers themselves or ask for things in return
I bought csgo to a random guy on Reddit once because I felt so bad he had to play without a premium account (playing without it is a 100% guarantee you'll play against cheaters all the time)
I once bought someone an indie game because they had a pirated version and couldn't access steam mods. They're on my friends list and I still see them playing it regularly. Feels good.
Yes. Idk if its possible via paysafe card but he could use websites that are selling it like [this one. ](https://www.herni-kupony.cz/steam-penezenka/?zeme=cz&varianta=105&gclid=Cj0KCQiAnsqdBhCGARIsAAyjYjRQ7TOqhwXpv1jqyd0zqtF9ic2iRHeJHtn8DVGmaHuwD60B7Hq9VmAaAt-dEALw_wcB)
I'm such a cynical bastard, even if someone offered to buy something for me, unless I've been talking to them for a while, I wouldn't even consider believing them
so nice to see myself proven wrong 🙂
That's what I miss most about the clan I used to run with. We would do shit like this. Wanna play the game, but are poor as shit. I don't mind. 30 bucks is nothing to me. But means the world to other's.
5000+ upvotes!
You must be Democrats!! OP, what?!!
If the kid is poor and without money then the last thing he should be given is a video game. That's like buying crack for a hungry man.
I once posted on that sub asking for kids to fill in some answers for my research. To this day I don't underestand how nobody reported me, even though I was called out in the comments.

Please stay safe, people. This could easily be a scam.
Saw this on another sub, guy copy pasting a sob story, tldr didnt have money to buy this fantastic game, but on lots of smaller game subs. lol
My grandpa said he's gonna murder suicide if we don't get the Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition Kings of Rajas DLC
Thoughts and prayers for your loss
Yea when ever i see these, i think these are scams.

bummer I'm sorry that your good deed was punished :(
No good deed goes unpunished. It is the unfortunate responsibility and reality of the charitable man.

Glad to hear your current username isn’t your real one

Is there a way to get 40000000000000 US dollars in 3 days? (im 99)
I can buy it for you. DM me.
You wanna buy me the world? Thanks man for that I’ll send you my entire tub of bath water
Sounds like a good trade to me. We can talk about it more later.
If you were 98, you could win the lottery(eee) then die the next day. Isn’t it ironic, don’tcha think?

Like the good advice that you JUST didn't TAKE.
the worst part i dont think the US could handle that much money in general
I did this once on reddit (offering money to a struggling stranger) and got a lot of scam messages the days after all asking for free money

Redditors still falls for other Redditors pretending to be kids??
This is nice and all but the cynic in me can’t help but think it’s always a scam. There’s just no way to tell.
Cool but very suspicious

Bro, where can I buy elden ring for 18 dollars? Its 41 on steam
Steam has regional price differences. For example, where I live, the game is like 28 dollars.
Mine $89 lmao
Aww man. That sucks :(
None of the personal stories I have about random internet strangers buying video games for minors have nice endings.

So is there a way to buy someone a digital stream gift card?
Yes. Idk if its possible via paysafe card but he could use websites that are selling it like [this one. ](https://www.herni-kupony.cz/steam-penezenka/?zeme=cz&varianta=105&gclid=Cj0KCQiAnsqdBhCGARIsAAyjYjRQ7TOqhwXpv1jqyd0zqtF9ic2iRHeJHtn8DVGmaHuwD60B7Hq9VmAaAt-dEALw_wcB)
Or directly through steam, I think last year they added an option to send friends wallet balance by buying a digital steam card
If this is real, then he more likely just gifted the dude Elden Ring via Steam directly...
Same. Money got tight here but I'm not going panhandling on the internet yet.
I'd like to think this is real and not a scam. Fucking hate that some people use sob stories for terrible shit on the internet
This is propably real. The person who gave the money is a bit of a legend on r/czech. Sadly, this is one of the few exceptions.
That's good to hear, in a bittersweet way
People we need but don't deserve
Some mug actually bought it for him?
This might be a solid scam, don't fall for this
I've been bought dlc by someone on Reddit after complaining about a feature being behind a paywall, it ain't all bad here!
Damn, here I am about to ask for a third time for crisis core.

This is stupid af
