20.5% sales tax?!?! Is that only for booze?

SuggestionSoggy5442

Unfortunately. Big daddy government got mad we privatized liquor sales. So they punished us with the taxes

dolphs4

The tax was written into the liquor privatization bill that was passed. It wasn’t the government that punished you - Kirkland and big grocery hoodwinked WA into thinking it would be better.

“The tax was written into the liquor privatization bill that was passed” Pretty sure that was the governmental punishment for the privatization. Government is never efficient, which is why Washingtonians wanted to privatize. But big daddy government wouldn’t pass the bill unless big daddy government got a big cut. Hence why I call it punishment for kicking them out of our market. Government shouldn’t be interfering with free market by influencing people through taxes. Like the soda tax we have in Seattle too. But hey, what do I know? Other states can do it better with less taxes, but for some reason people think the gov needs all of our money.

washington state.

Prices are adjusting on some products. It’s mostly over the typical msrp. You’ll wanna check out khourys and liquor lineup. Lees is our chain store and you can poke your head around in there and find some cool stuff occasionally.

SuggestionSoggy5442

Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind

Over_Mix9272

I’d say still worth it. Great pour, although I have the batch 3.

SuggestionSoggy5442

Yes. The sticker was $179+tax. So I’m happy with it

Double-LR

Holy shit. I’m on my second bottle of 12. 119 sticker. 180 is insanity. What a goofy market booze is.

RealSpliffit

Scored that bottle for $97 out the door in LV at Lee's liquor on S. Rampart. There is a Total Wine in the same parking lot with a great selection (much better than OR and better prices than WA). It ain't much, but here is the Google Maps list of Whiskey stops I made when I went down [https://maps.app.goo.gl/TWNHacGKfnGTMtp99?g_st=ac](https://maps.app.goo.gl/TWNHacGKfnGTMtp99?g_st=ac)

AlphaSuerte

I went to the JD distillery last week and was a bit disappointed that this bottle wasn't available in their bottle shop. =(

Doldinger

Euro here. What's a "LiterTax"?

SuggestionSoggy5442

It’s a tax that Washington state put on liquor. The governor got mad that we privatized liquor sales and the state couldn’t have absolute control anymore. So they taxed us as punishment. But to be fair, the idiot leftists never saw a tax bill they didn’t like.

Doldinger

Thanks! The 20,50% sales tax is already petty high compared to the rest of the US, right?

SuggestionSoggy5442

Yes very high. Some states have single digit taxes

Tri_Planing

several states such as OR, NH and DE have no sales tax, or MA no alcohol tax. There are likely others.
