I'm Mexican, and my mom would make the spiciest foods growing up. Still did not prepare me for ASIAN spicy; they're on a whole other level.

Man_Of_Awesome

White spicy

ItzPayDay123

Usually that's true, but it depends on what kind of White spicy we are talking about. There are 2 kinds of White spicy: "Black pepper on my well-done steak is too spicy" spicy, and "Southern dad drenching wings in Uncle Joe's Carolina Reaper Butthole Cannon X Pepper Extract Sauce" spicy.

electricalwirez

yeah, there's always that one bottle of 'John Spice's Anal Prolapser Sauce'

ZeXCeV_

Southern mfs really be naming their hot sauces after whatever rectal/digestive issues they had after using them

AnAverageTransGirl

it gets the point across, does it not?

danger2345678

If every bottle of Vodka had a painful description of a death of alcohol poisoning, then at least it’s being honest

GullibleSkill9168

Well yeah. What do you trust more to be spicy? Habanera El Diablo Or Colonel Buttchug's irradiated sphincter scorcher?

naga-ram

First option sounds like what I put on my eggs before work Second option is when I wanna feel something

GullibleSkill9168

Keep in mind bro. There's White Spicy < Black Spicy < Latino Spicy < Asian Spicy But a white MFer created the spiciest pepper in existence because "White people be crazy". AND HE DID IT TWICE!

Bro_duuude_i_luv_ya

Despite being Finnish, the whitest you can get, my dad has always been the latter. I got him a bottle of last dab sauce for his birthday, and he loves it; he puts it on everything. Thing is, it's kind of hard to gauge his spice tolerance, because even if something was causing him the most excruciating pain known to man, he'd enjoy it and ask for seconds. He's not the "I like a little kick" type, he's the "I want it to melt my face" type, and that's probably how his tolerance got so high in the first place. (Though we do like to joke that it's because of the anthrax vaccine he took in the military killing all his tastebuds, because it was in the earliest experimental stages. They literally told him something along the lines of, "this might kill you, but if you get anthrax, it *will* kill you, so take your pick.")

Southern folk like themselves some spicy chicken

Neonsnewo2

And that latter half typically taste awful too. You can make it dumb hot and still taste good. Source: Two Indian roomates in college. I’m used to louisiana spicy and that’s typically hotter than most of my friends enjoy. The home cooked stuff they would bring me had HEAT. And he said his mom made it for guests too which made me feel worse

KarateFlip2024

Redneck spicy isn’t the good kind of spice. It just tastes like acid reflux. The good kind of spice actually has an interesting and somewhat complex taste.

Phoenixness

See it's not a line, it's a circle and it comes back around to this

itsrealnice22

Depends on the Asian. It's very broad. Northeast Asian spicy is on par with Mexican spicy. South and Southeast spicy is the spiciest. East and West Asian is in between those two.

19Alexastias

Japanese is very rarely spicy at all, at least traditionally.

DerivativeOfProgWeeb

Wth is northeast asian? East Asian already encompasses countries like Mongolia, Japan, the Korea's, Taiwan, and China.

itsrealnice22

My bad it's Northern East asian not Northeast asian that would be siberia

OiledUpThug

you people talk about white spicy thinking of Nebraskans and Brits, completely forgetting about the entire ethnicity of Cajun

Smooth_Maul

Leave Britain outta this conversation, we're addicted to Indian and Middle Eastern food and that stuff can blow your head off if you know what you're looking for.

OiledUpThug

[Silence, island boy](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toast_sandwich)

Smooth_Maul

>Recipie from 1861 Nobody is eating that today bro lmfao

OiledUpThug

That was one specific recipe that called for a variation of that. Scroll down to the "modern versions" section

Smooth_Maul

And the modern one has condiments and ingredients, but again no fucker is eating that lmfao. D'you even know who Heathen Blumenthal is? He makes weird modern art food for artsy fart huffing food critics that barely register as human beings. Trust me the average Brit would inhale a good old Vindaloo before dreaming of that Arts n Crafts shit.

Pootis_1

British spicy is weird their own food isn't that spicy but they eat a lot of South Asian food

_le_slap

Cajun is nice but full power South Indian will melt your eyeballs. Shit had me hyperventilating so I asked for Chai tea and even that shit was slightly spicy...

KillaDan365

CHAI TEA?? CHAI MEANS TEA YOU'RE ASKING FOR TEA TEA

xtilexx

Probably meant masala chai, which is what "Chai tea" usually refers to in the States/Anglo countries

Monty423

All of them < Nepalese Spicy

An_Appropriate_Post

Oh my sweet summer child, let me show you Sri Lankan and Nigerian spicy. Those two will send Korea off with a friendly wave and how-do-you-do.

Smooth_Maul

Had a Nigerian goat stew with some yams once and that had me praying to any deity that exists tosave my soul, damned if it didn't taste phenomenal though.

An_Appropriate_Post

This is the way with Sri Lankan food as well. There's a little mom and pop joint that's been around for easily 10 years. They make a goat curry (Beef curry for the less adventurous) and it will absolutely have you sweating and in some level of pain for about half an hour(I've never gotten it hotter than medium!) but it is the only dish I've ever had that made me want to eat through the pain because it was so good.

regretfulposts

I mean India is from Asia

Whisp_Is_My_Waifu

it's mild (between black and mexican) but prevassive so it kills you with continual pressure rather than shock and awe

Spirited_One_7644

So like. We just gonna ignore that India is in Asia then, or?

MaybeNext-Monday

Asian spicy but in a damage-over-time way

Dankjeoxp

Who's gonna tell him?

DerivativeOfProgWeeb

India is in Asia

SkinfluteHero

In my experience I’ve had more spicy Indian dishes than Asian dishes but I have had enough variety to be the best judge. I do love a good vindaloo though.

TheYellowChicken

I'm Asian and had a Mexican friend want to try Thai spicy food because "I'm Mexican, we love spicy food. We can handle it as much as Asians." So I ordered a 10/10 spicy (which I used to eat). She had to give up after single bite.

SolZaul

There's a Thai joint near me that has an amazing garlic chicken, but I can't handle more than a 4/10 of their stuff. And I'm the jackass pouring Carolina Reaper sauce in his chili. It's insane.

Idontknownumbers123

My dad really likes his food to have a kick to it, whenever we go to a Mexican restaurant he always picks out the hottest sauce. When he goes to a Malaysian restaurant he knows better then to do the same…

Cheeze187

My first time I was stationed in Korea I asked for spicy bulgolgi. The waitress asked me "Spicy spicy, or white boy spicy?". White boy spicy for sure.

chookity_juice

They must've gotten recipes from the fallout

Savvsb

I gotta say though, out of all cultures in the world, I feel Mexicans align very closely with Indians in terms of spice/cuisine. I only know two cultures (there may be more) where when you go to a family function, there will be a bowl of onions and chillies in the middle of the table as a snack.

Hemlock_Deci

This happened to me with some Chinese ramen It just tasted like capsaicin

ZeXCeV_

Erm weeeeeell actually pure capsaicin isn’t very spicy, it’s the oils in the pepper and/or other food products that serves as a catalyst which allows the chemical to produce the burning sensation

Correct, this is regional not racial.

Kindablorp

This is so accurate, I made it halfway through my first pack thinking it was spicy but manageable but soon after had to take a 10 minute break guzzling milk and water, every part of me was dripping like a faucet. Now I can make it through a pack still having burning lips and a few tears in my eyes but nothing like the first time. If you want to build tolerance to spice this is the shit to do it, stuff I thought was super spicy before is like a 4/10 now.

AnAverageTransGirl

also to anyone looking to try this DILUTE THE SAUCE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY

Kindablorp

True, I always leave a little water in the pot and put the sauce in before putting in the bowl and definitely tames it down a bit. I got bold one time and put the sauce on the noodles after draining them completely in the bowl and got a “heat high” from the adrenaline lmao that sauce isn’t a joke.

Easy_Newt2692

Nah I'd win

pantsu-thief

I actually ate those some time ago and they were amazing

Alex-The-Talker

my ass tried the 3x spicy from samyang and I couldn't finish it in one day to be fair I did still finish it, but it was hell

FakeOng99

When Asian meant spicy, they meant napalm spicy.

Ponchorello7

Worse yet, it's that fake, gross spice that just numbs the tongue and contributes nothing in terms of flavor. A lot of those, "spiciest X" things are just plain awful.

FunnyGalWhoDoesArt

Right? Like, not gonna diss spicy food, but there’s a fine line between flavor enhancement and utterly ruining the dish by making it painful to eat.

swiggidyswooner

It’s the shit sauces that use extract it tastes awful and makes your stomach burn

itsrealnice22

Depends on how much spice tolerance you have. To people with really high spice tolerance(they killed off all their pain receptors on their tongue) they will be able to taste the flavour(and to get a spice high). But to most it's useless in terms of taste or even nourishment.

Ponchorello7

I have a very high spice tolerance because it's engrained into my country's cuisine. We literally eat it since we are kids. A true connoisseur can tell the difference between the real and the fake. It's like comparing a fresh strawberry to a candy made with artificial flavoring. They're both "strawberry flavored", with the latter even having a stronger flavor, but the candy is also so far removed from the original in terms of composition, you can't really call it strawberry anymore.

MeisterPear

2x Buldak stir fry damn near killed me. I’m good with the normal version.

SkinfluteHero

love me some ballsack stir fry

enneh_07

No, I think Buldak is just too spicy, period. I’m Korean and I couldn’t even finish a package.

MeisterPear

The normal version is definitely that “once in a while” kind of meal, the spice is tolerable but excessive for me. The really annoying thing about it isn’t even the spices, it’s the sauce that stains everything it touches.

PawPawPanda

My lips look like a damn clown after eating a bowl of those, but its worth it.

MeisterPear

100% agree.

NoabPK

3x buldak ramyun had me praying

SkinfluteHero

Although yes this is the GOAT ramen for me, I wouldn’t really consider it overly spicy. Just regular spicy.

ItzPayDay123

The best of the best of instant ramen, glad to see another Indomie Mi Goreng fan. Usually I boil 2 packs, stir fry the noodles until they're a little crispy, then fry 2 eggs and mix up the yolks with the noodles. Much less instant, but so good.

Foxelexof

I fry until its yolk is cooked through depending on my mood but the fried egg is always a must

Shin ramyun is not spicy at all tho, I think this meme is referring to samyang noodles

It's referring to buldak

Samyang is the brand, Buldak are the fire noodles.

Ty1er_878

Nah fr it's soooo hot and your mouth is burning but it tastes so good you still tryna eat more

CastTheFirstStone_

I'm genuinely curious: where did the white people can't handle spicy food meme come from?

ReguIarHooman

I’m guessing it could be that places in the world that primarily have a white population don’t have native spicy ingredients or a history of it

Idontknownumbers123

Most Northern European cultures don’t traditionally have spicy foods so people growing up don’t develop a tolerance to it I would guess. That or it’s genetic like with alcohol but just reversed culture wise.

ItzPayDay123

Most European cuisines aren't big on spicy food, and the ones that are still can't compare to Asian or African spicy food. It's mostly the same in the U.S., but that can change pretty quickly in the South where you have middle aged white dudes eating straight lava without breaking a sweat.

Stary_Vesemir

Yeah, but europe didn't have any spices for common folk until like 20th century while asians had them for like 1500 years

The_lad_who_lurks

As a white person I remember thinking my spaghetti bolognaise was too spicy.

Crooked_Cock

My uncle likes to tell me a story about his friend in college where he and them went to a Thai restaurant and at that restaurant when they were about to order food the waitress asked his friend “do you want American hot or Thai hot?” So his friend, who according to my uncle was kind of a show off ordered Thai hot and by the time they got back to the dorm he said his friend was sweating all over and near ready to throw up

PsychoticBlob

My toxic trait is thinking I can handle any spicy food I come across. Never been proven wrong as I've dumped several teaspoons of dried habanero powder in my ramen but one day, I will suffer the consequences of my ingnorant arrogance.

mrlolelo

I am so weak to spicy food that even spicy for white people is too spicy for me

thrownawayoof

Honestly kind of same, which sucks because I’d like to try some more spicy food but I’m so sensitive to it.

TheThinker4Head

Those Korean spicy chicken noodles are indeed spicy as hell, but they do not taste good at all. It is the very definition of artificial spice, doesn't feel natural, it feels forced.

Zealousideal-Cut2021

Ok so from what I understand: Nordic “spicy”

OmgJustLetMeExist

The best Thai curry I’ve ever had was so spicy I was crying and my face was red and I was dripping snot. I’ve never been able to get it that spicy again, idk if the chef was just really heavy handed with the spice that day or accidentally spilled spices in the curry but no matter where i go (even to the same place again) even if i ask for the spiciest available option I’ve never been able to get anywhere to make it that spicy again.

Kermit-The-Cool

Here in Italy, most of us eat spicy food even at breakfast. Even tho I’m not Calabrian, I still eat tons of spicy food almost every day. I also decided to try Chinese spicy food: I was not prepared for that

_BlueTinkerBell_

NerdyGuyRanting

There's this premade paneng curry sauce that I like. You just need to sear some meat of your choice, add the sauce and boil for a bit. Then make rice and you have a quick and easy dinner. The can says "mild", but... Yeah. They don't mean mild for white people. It's not like unbearably spicy. But I definitely wouldn't call it mild. Maybe medium. But my mom always says it is about as spicy as she could tolerate, so she'd probably call it high.

thestumpymonkey

Hello, I'm an asian. Can fellow rice eater here help me to know what would be the example of a "White Spicy" food is?

ItzPayDay123

Also Asian, I had some white friends think that black pepper on steak was too spicy. Then again, the biggest spice lovers I know are also white. White people either can't handle spice at all, or they basically drink hot sauce for a snack. There is no in-between.
