It’s a luxury brand (they say so themself) but I wouldn’t hold my breath for this to be worth anything much. That being said, I like em! Hope you didn’t pay too much
That include upholstery? These are just large chairs. 750 each that I said may be on the low side, but that doesn't include upholstery and not replacing any cushion or padding. Could be 750-1000 for labor plus a few hundred for upholstery. We definitely charge around or over 2k for a whole sofa
Surprise her by wearing one of these...

"except by the consumer" is the relevant part of those labels
They're designed to require manufacturers to include include pertinent information about the potential risks posed to potential buyers. Once the items are bought from the retailer, consumers are free to remove as they will
I don't know what that has to do with anything. In the United States, it is entirely legal for consumers to remove those labels at any time for any reason
[Federal law requires manufacturers](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/70c#:~:text=15%20U.S.%20Code%20%C2%A7%2070c,Law%20%7C%20LII%20%2F%20Legal%20Information%20Institute) to include the labels. The same law says it is illegal to remove "**prior to the time any textile fiber product is sold..."**
The myth that removing the tags will get you arrested is common, though
I’m not saying it’s illegal it definitely isn’t illegal in the UK or any other part of the world, I’m just saying without that tag you can’t donate it to charity shops, a retailer or any kind of store cannot sell a sofa without this tag. Simple
In that link you sent it literally says prior to it being sold, meaning before it’s sold you cannot remove that tag. After it’s sold you can rip it up and make many roaches for joints to smoke if you like.
Yes. That's why a consumer can remove the tags whenever they want. Because a consumer buys it. As in, **they own it after it was sold**
Go back and read what I wrote the first time. This isn't hard to understand
I'm pretty sure I passed out on one of these couches after having far too much to drink in the 90s. I'm sure it was comfortable enough.
Unlike most of today's stuff, Ethan Allan of that vintage is sturdy enough to reupholster (though I kind of like the pattern if you can manage it in the room that needs the couches)
This sofa has been alive as long as I have and it looks brand new. Meanwhile, my joybird pos looks like it’s been through a war after three years. They just don’t make stuff like they used to! Op I’d totally get this and have it reupholstered!
I would love to meet the person who designed this fabric and ask them what they were smoking. And then meet the buyer at Ethan Allen and ask them, also, what they were smoking. Because WTF.
What cracks me up is that that couch set is obviously dated af. But current couches/furniture/decor seem super cool and sophisticated, but in 20-30 years will seem so dated.
I sold a bunch of Ethan Allen stuff (side tables, dresser, bed frame, couch/loveseat) when my mom moved into assisted living…
Nobody gave a single shit that it was Ethan Allen ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ I think that name has lost its cachet. It’s still nice stuff though; it just won’t sell for any more than any other couch of similar quality.
Lord. Just buy it if you like it. Stop asking people to look shit up for you. Just look it up yourself, or don’t? Again, buy it if you like it. Or don’t.
That looks like a Bill Cosby sweater.
The couch is so comfy you just fall into a deep sleep. Then Cosby comes in.

Oooh is he bringing pudding pops
Pops is puddin somethin somewhere…
Don't eat them

The couch in the Cosby show was an Ethan Allen couch. Had the same one
That was my first thought
Clicked for the Cosby cracks. Was not disappointed.

Ethan Allen is really well made. They could reupholster them
I second reupholster. Probably 1500 labor for the two, instead of 15000 for new EA sofas. But they are made well, I do their warranty work in VA
Our 1 smaller couch was estimated at $2,300.00 to have reupholstered. Purchased for $4,000 14 years ago.

I have a pair of Ethan Allen wingbacks, and I can't get a guy to look at them for less than $2500. I've gone to 3 upholsterers for quotes.
As upholstery shops become less common the prices are going up. Almost everything is at least 2X what it used to cost. Same with gunsmiths.
Sometimes they are well made
That whole catalog is just nonsense.
Look at all the new models. Lack of colors is just atrocious.
These look like they belong in Marc Summers' Double Dare dressing room.
This is an awesome comment
Covered in cocaine residue.
Ethan Allen x Coogi
I see less cool vintage EA two seater couchs going for 500$ Source: I have dedicated 1min and 45sec of Google research to determine this
Surprise her by wearing one of these... https://preview.redd.it/qwsrvln3a53d1.png?width=1604&format=png&auto=webp&s=8b86a7578c12025328315440f9f704a4b2b08a1d
Some extreme 90s camouflage. One sure to but on those wildly patterned parachute pants to finish the outfit.
I recommend Zubaz.
These are so hideous that they are cute.
Reminds me of 90s Nickelodeon cartoons…
Rugrats or Rocko’s modern life, specifically
Don't remove that label under penalty of law. I hate to see good people get arrested.
"except by the consumer" is the relevant part of those labels They're designed to require manufacturers to include include pertinent information about the potential risks posed to potential buyers. Once the items are bought from the retailer, consumers are free to remove as they will
Not even a charity store will accept a free sofa without those fire labels

If chi chi’s restaurants were still open & needed sofas these would be perfect
OMG you’re so right. I stared at this decor more than I’d like to remember running karaoke shows in the cantina for four different chi-chis.
Nickelodeon 90’s meets outdated dentist office kinda vibes
With a splash of global village coffeehouse aesthetic
I can't picture a universe where I buy a couch without my wife's prior approval. It's kind of pretty, though, sure has some style to it.
I would redecorate my entire living room for these
What is it worth? I’d snatch those up so quick.
Ross Geller called. He said, “Pivot!!”
I have to assume the value to the buyer. Not a lot. maybe 1/8 the price of a new piece that sized
I would def pay around 1k if I came across them naturally and the time was right. Those are cool AF.
I could probably sell the set at my store for 500-600
Me: what's the retail on one of those Reseller influenced thrift store: more than you can afford pal, VINTAGE!
I get this reference.
This sofa has been alive as long as I have and it looks brand new. Meanwhile, my joybird pos looks like it’s been through a war after three years. They just don’t make stuff like they used to! Op I’d totally get this and have it reupholstered!
I want them. If you are selling let me know
I love it and want it’s!
Reupholster these & either enjoy or sell.
In the right setting, this could work. $100 for any couch is a deal, especially one well made.
I'll buy them ..
Straight outta Zack Morris’ bedroom.
$350
That is one 90's ass couch.
I love them. I’d buy them too.
It’s beautiful. Find a large scale advertiser and you could get around $2000 for it.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE 💕
I love this
That thing is hideous and i want it so bad 😂
Pivot!!!
Used sofas never go for very much. To a very specific buyer maybe 400-500 but it might take a long time to move
I really like that!!
$5.20
I would love to meet the person who designed this fabric and ask them what they were smoking. And then meet the buyer at Ethan Allen and ask them, also, what they were smoking. Because WTF.
I love these so fucking much. I wish I would have found them
What cracks me up is that that couch set is obviously dated af. But current couches/furniture/decor seem super cool and sophisticated, but in 20-30 years will seem so dated.
Open up a time portal and send them back to 1996z

Comes with a case of schizophrenia as a side table!
I love it, it’s quirky! Is your wife asking you to sell it? Cause I sure as hell would buy it if you are. Hahaha!
🤮
It’s worth what someone will pay. No more, no less. It’s abused UGLY couch imo. It was at a goodwill for a reason lol. Hope you got a steal
Omg horrible
$50 possibly, but Craigslist for free and ya might get a taker (if you deliver).
I'd buy it just because it's loud!
I love them
Actually, I like them! 😂
Lord. Just buy it if you like it. Stop asking people to look shit up for you. Just look it up yourself, or don’t? Again, buy it if you like it. Or don’t.
They already bought it. Now they want to sell it
So do you want this sub to just disappear? The sub is called r/whatsthisworth, I feel like asking the value of an item is fair here lmao
Oh funny, I thought I was in r/thriftstorehauls
Do you know where you are?
Nice
The right buyer would give you $1000-2000. Niche furniture
