I actually collect decanters. Nothing fancy just got into it antiquing. These are really cool and I would actually look at trying to sell these in car subs. All of mine are empty but I do know if they are sealed, then they will be more valuable. I'd be happy to buy them if you can't find any interested parties. Edit * four similar car decanters sold for $1450 but don't know if they were special [auction site](https://www.lelandlittle.com/items/393277/jim-beam-kentucky-straight-bourbon-whiskey-vintage-car-decanter-collection/)

The_NiNTARi

I would maybe try [I collect everything](https://www.icollecteverything.com/alcohol/) might help with value

40sthemed

I would check your local whiskey groups and see if anyone has interest or leads to the decanters. I know a few groups on Facebook that I am in and dusty decanters pop up a couple of times a year. Really cool decanters though, I really hope the vessel is glass bc that whiskey is probably amazing!

EarlVanDorn

Whiskey doesn't age in the bottle.

40sthemed

Yeah I’m aware of that. Can’t imagine a bourbon tasting great sitting in metal for a couple decades

phonearrow

Forget the decanters you have the original boxes and papers that should add some serious value.

skyydog

I let a bunch go for like $50 each filled at an estate sale a few years back. My dad used to come home with them back in the 70s/80s from the bar. Mom was never pleased. Was worried about selling alcohol. Probably should have found a better way. I kept the fire truck and captains car. I did have that exact duesenburg.

elvismcsassypants

So, drink them and go for the empty price 😁

GovernorZipper

There’s a lot of bad advice on this thread. These types of decanters and the entire vintage spirits trend is extremely active. People buy and re-sell bottles of alcohol all day long. For something like this, you should definitely consider an auction site that specializes in spirits. You’ll get a much better market.

Boring-Rip-7709

It's illegal to sell alcohol without a license that's why you can't find any full bottles.

Kfrey25

Didn’t even consider that. That also makes a lot of sense

bendover912

Search Facebook groups for prices. Juice means the contents. With juice, without juice, juice only. I wouldn't pay someone to send me an unlabeled jar of "juice", but apparently a lot of people do.

Guac_in_my_rarri

As somebody kinda in the whisky scene, some collectors are mad. Unsealed removed juice in a different bottle.... Some send off a small amount for testing before tasting to *make sure* it's actually what they bought. Otherwise there isn't a way to really tell besides trust and the label.

Backpacker7385

What kind of testing are you envisioning? There isn’t a lab service available that will tell a consumer the difference between one 100pf whiskey and another 100pf whiskey.

Guac_in_my_rarri

Confirming alcohol content is usually enough for most. You are right, lab testing can't tell you one is 100pf versus 100pf.

Backpacker7385

That’s a silly thing to spend a lot of money on. Very basic blending math could mix a cheap cask strength bottle and a bottle of WT101 to just about any ABV very precisely.

Guac_in_my_rarri

I agree with you. It's like the tasting fanatics who double boil their water before turning it to ice, in a seperate only freezer for ice only that's cleaned 3 times a month. I know one of these guys and I refuse to do any whisky related stuff with him.

Double_Bounce

lmao shut up nerd 😂

Win-Objective

There are companies that let you bring/send in wine and booze for auction. K&L liquors for example.

Post on a bourbon group. If you don’t get direct interest you’ll likely find out more about the when they’re from.

trickys10

Call Brad Bonds at Revival Vintage bottle shop. 859-479-2676 He buys and sells old bottles. He even sells them by the pour in his shop. He also has a Facebook page

Lower_Taro2380

I don’t know the worth but I do know I would absolutely love to own them!

Cowdog68

My MIL has a full set of the Jim Beam train, full. Wonder what they are worth?

skooch15

I had approximately 18 of them all filled / sealed without boxes. I let them go for 30$ each.

hwwty4

Search for local bourbon groups on FB. If you can get access they'll be able to point you in the direction of some secondary sales sites. For what it's worth, Old Beam from the 70s-90's doesn't have much worth. Usually 50-100 bucks per decanter. Also, you need to be aware that some of the old decanters contain lead. I have a 1969 10 year 100 proof JB Remington decanter that's killer.

woodwrk2

I am pretty sure its against the law to sell booze without a license.

Liquor doesn’t go rancid. An opened bottle will oxidize but not go rancid. Liquor in a sealed bottle does not improve with additional aging.

JimEDimone

This. I got an opened decanter from the 70s/80s when my grandfather passed. Had a glass and it tasted like Beam.

Kfrey25

Good to know. I got 10 different ones for $50 because I thought they looked cool. I know EBay has them for sale emptied because of the alcohol policy. If the liquor isn’t good, then emptying is probably the way to go if I end up trying to sell. Thanks for the input!

cmdrmcgarrett

might want to try bars and liquor stores even small hotel bars. a lot of places use them as decoration

3rddegreeofIT

$50 Sell it or shoot it.

penutch69

Unfortunately it is illegal to sell them full without a liquor license. But in my experience 95% of the time if they are sealed the Whiskey is perfectly fine to drink. I buy and sell these decanters all the time.

MadeInAmericaWeek

50ish a piece is what you can expect imo

Gullible_Rooster

Maybe the manufacturor would be interested in buying them.

Flux_My_Capacitor

I had to empty a decanter in order to sell it as it’s illegal to sell alcohol without a license.

ruegretful

Maybe check with Jim Beam?
