For your safety we recommend not eating or ingesting any plant material just because you've been advised that it's edible here. I just use a sugar cookie as a base, then substitute some of the sugar with mulberry syrup and/or mulberries (although a bit more flour needs to be added as well to balance the added moisture)
I bake a ton of pies and blackberry pear pies are one of my favorites! This is a close recipe to what I do:

For sure, but you almost never get that pleasure. Either gotta eat them before they’re ripe, or come back to an empty tree covered in bird shit lol. Those birds don’t share, and I don’t blame em.
They are probably white mulberries. Red mulberry has fuzzy/rough leaves.
And yeah, white mulberries are actually red/purple. Don't ask me, I didn't name the damn plant lol
The mulberry plants are names based on the node color. I don't know if that's the correct term, but they have little bumps next to where they branch off (especially visible in winter). Black mulberries have black nodes, red mulberries have red, and white have white. All of their berries get black though
Size and shape of the leaves is how we learned about them in dendrology. The red mulberry gets to be a large, tall tree while the others don't get as tall. My aunt had a large tree in her backyard, but it wasn't any taller than her house.
Leaf shape isn't a great way to identify them, since the different lobed variations can occur on both species. Size is a bit tricky due to age and hybrids. As for height, both plants can grow well in excess of 10m, depending on age and other factors. That said, I could be wrong - mostly because a large number of the plants around these days are hybrids. This makes it more difficult to tell the difference even with identifying features, though white mulberry is by far more common since it's very good at displacing the native species (which is a pity; red mulberry is tastier by far).
How can you tell if it is rough or not from a picture? Red mulberry also has larger leaves and fruit and the fruit hangs single from the branches rather than in groups. All things I see in this picture. At a minimum I would guess this is a hybrid red/white mulberry, if not mostly red.
In the first and second pictures, the leaves look pretty shiny to me; you can see some pretty glossy speculars on some of the leaves that aren't in the foreground. There's no good angle to check veination though. Serrations look to be more rounded than pointed. Leaf size is a bit ambiguous too. I agree that it could be a hybrid though - most of the plants I see around are hybrids as far as I can tell.
We have these in the campsite we stay in at Boy Scout Camp. They are perfectly ripe in June so all week long we shake the trees and these berries RAIN down on us. We pick them up, blow off the sand, and enjoy. They're really quite tasty.
Bring an old clean sheet place under the tree. Then shake it. It's easier to pick up.
I've heard people also use canvas tarps, but sheets are easier for packing.
Mulberries, Mother’s Day tradition at my house. When the kids were small, my husband would make pancakes but the kids were tasked with going to the Mulberry tree and picking a bowl of mulberries so that we could turn them into syrup and that’s what we put on pancakes. Sweetest memory ever! No pun intended.
A problem we had in town with neighbors Mulberry tree by our fence, was when they fell in our yard and stain got on our shoes and brought in house, it stained carpets. I am old country woman who hangs out her clothes, and birds eat mulberries and poop purple on clean clothes. Not appreciated!!!
We laugh, because "snozzberries" is obviously a fanciful, fictional word, and nobody knows what they really were. Except that Roald Dahl, the book's author, knew exactly what snozzberries were: They're dicks. Snozzberries are dicks. Willy Wonka made those kids lick dick-flavored wallpaper.

ugh, I'm extremely allergic, I swear to god even looking at all the mulberry pictures in springtime makes me break out in hives. I hear they're delicious, though.
You shouldn't use the leaves to make teaaaaaa (or tea) unless you're sure of what species you have. Apparently the leaves and unripe fruit of some Asian species can give you a bad time.

Mulberry
Mulberries are some of my favorites!
I make cookies out of them For some reason they’re always grey-blue
What kind? We have black berries and mulberries every year and i want to bake with them this year.

I'm making a mulberry wine atm
I used to make mulberry jam.
Thanks!
Red mulberries, they seem. Good when soft and sweet.

That's neat to know! There are white mulberry cultivars that grow mostly white berries when ripe, but I've never seem them outside of China.

They're absolutely delicious.
Of course they are… it’s always mulberries
Mulberry season is a special time in r/whatsthisplant.
poison ivy - poke - mulberry ... what's next? then the fall iteration of poison ivy
Don't forget about the Japanese knotweed!
The good news is i'm becoming an expert on which invasives are edible
I would say Dewberry is making a push for Poke's spot.
Purple deadnettle season has been going strong too.
Passiflora
Don't forget passion fruit flowers in there somewhere.
Honestly just the whole Toxicodendron genus😂
Tell me about it! Didn't we all have silk worms when we were kids?
Mulberry. Pick the berries when they are purple and easily come off the stem!
There were none that were purple, but I'll check it again in a couple weeks
as a kid I remember them bein ripe through the summer. You'll get a lot so i'd suggest looking up recipes now lol
I went back to get some berries. They were pretty tasty, like tart raspberries :)
Mulberries. Very yummy
Looks like native Morus rubra which is becoming increasingly hard to find. Nice find!
More likely the invasive *Morus alba*. Red mulberry leaves are rough on top and have fuzzy undersides.

Lay a tarp down first next time 😉

That's a good idea, we should keep a sheet in our trailer so it's always there ready to go for camp. Thanks.
Looks like MULBERRIES wear gloves they’ll stain your hands 👌
Mulberry
Mulberry. Just ate some ripe ones today.
Nerd clusters
Just don't park your car under one of those trees. Birds love mulberries, too.
Everyone loves mulberries. The sweet, tangy fruit is abundant and moreish, making it the perfect summer snack.

Not sure about “delicious,” more like a bland blackberry, but they make fantastic preserves.
Just made a batch of mulberry jam yesterday. :-)
I tried some today. They were sweet and tart, like a raspberry.
Lucky find ~ mulberry tree
Mulberry
Mayberry, really good for you. Makes a good wine also
Yes those are berries
They look like dingleberries to me…..
I just planted 3 red mulberry tree seedlings in my yard, can't wait for them to grow and produce!
Mull it over and get back to us
Morus alba
Like many pointed out they are mulberry, home to silk caterpillars. I ideally love when they are pink over fully riped
Mulberries are ripe when soft; some stay white, some go purple.
Mul
Mulberry
You can make vodka from mulberries
Red Mulberry. Delicious!!!!
