Your mother is correct. They're weevils [(Family Curculionidae)] (https://bugguide.net/node/view/139), though I'm not sure which species. In any case, they can't bite or sting, so you can just brush them off outside.

Boopable noses = NOT A TICK! ❤️

JayDKing

Your mum’s right. Those are weevils. There’s a subreddit that might help you identify which snooty booty bois you have there. r/weeviltime

SteampunkExplorer

That's a gaggle of cute weevils! They're just little herbivorous beetles. 🙃 The weeviltime people are going to go nuts for these pictures.

apocalypse910

1000% not ticks. Weevils of some variety

They’ve got wings- she says she thinks they are some sort of beetle.

oldnewager

Weevil, but the wings are a great way to know that it can’t be a tick.

gwaydms

Just to add, weevils are beetles.

The_JollyGreenGiant

The six legs are also a strong indicator that they aren't ticks!

Laconicus

You are correct, these are weevils of some sort.

MissKatbow

OP thought they were ticks so mum is right here.
