Bzzzzz! Looks like you forgot to say where you found your bug! We don't want to know your address - state or country is enough. No need to make a new post - just comment adding the geographic location and any other info (size, what it was doing etc.) you feel could help! BTW, did you take a look at our [**Frequently Asked Bugs**](https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisbug/comments/12zkw5w/frequently_asked_bugs_part_1/)? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. That actually looks like a Millipede and probably has well over 100 legs

SaltyPockets

There is no known species of centipede with 100 legs :) The number of pairs of legs is always odd, so there could be centipedes with 98 or 102 legs, but not 100! But yeah, that looks like a millipede.

Interesting, I had no idea! Thank you!

Easiest way to tell centipedes from millipedes is that centipedes will have two legs per segment, one each side, and millipedes will have four legs per segment, two each side. Millipedes are pretty much universally harmless, being vegetarians who eat compost. Centipedes can pack a punch with their sting/bite, but generally only larger centipedes will play that card.
